I just bought another domain (From GoDaddy) and I want it to connect to the same server but a different section to host a second site completely separate from the first.
So this is how I want it to be setup:
Domain1 = /var/www/
Domain2 = /var/www/website2
When I put Domain1 in the url like www.domain1.com it will connect to /var/www/
When I put Domain2 in the url like www.domain2.com it will connect to /var/www/website2

Here are some additional details - apachectl -M shows rewrite_module (shared) the host config file has AllowOverride All the dir and php5 modules are loading fine.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been running a dual boot system with Windows XP plus SUSE Linux 11.2 since january 2010. Now (2011-03-06) I downloaded Ubuntu 10,4 LTS, produced an installation CD, booted Windows XP and invoked the Wubi to instal Ubuntu under Windows. The good news is that it works! However, I would prefer a different setup.
Currently, when my PC boots, I can choose from the GRUB menu either SUSE Linux or Windows. When I select Windows, I see another menu where I can choose between Windows and my new Ubuntu Linux. I would like to install Ubuntu Linux such that my initial GRUB menu offers the choice between the three systems. From a few articles in the Ubuntu forums I conclude that it should be possible to do so. Is there an instruction on how to do it? I chose a headline that expresses my question in more general terms,

The short form of my question: Can I log into a remote host from a local host (on the same LAN) and get the full GUI desktop environment of the remote host?
Long form of question: I worked for years on Solaris hosts with the CDE environment. Our server hosts were in another physical location. My desktop machine was another Sun Solaris host which also ran CDE. At the CDE login screen, I could click a dropdown menu and tell it to login to one of the server hosts at the remote location. In my login script on the remote machine, I had "export DISPLAY=localhostname:0.0", where localhostname was the hostname of my desktop host. There was also some kind of security command that had to be in the login script to allow the windows to be sent to another host, but unfortunately, I cannot remember what that command is.
What I want to do is configure another host on my LAN, but without a mouse, keyboard, and display monitor. I would like to run the GUI desktop of the new host on my current main host, just like I did at work. Is this possible in Ubuntu with Gnome?
I've been on a quest to enable full routing through my openvpn tunnel between my office and the colo. Masquerading will work, however it will throw off anything key based and makes a lot of things just more difficult and vague in general. Is there an easy way to do this via iptables? I tried using quagga hoping it would magically solve my problems, however it does not seem to do my routing for me . I just did a basic static route within zebra...
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have three locations with a central office connected to two remote locations. At the central office I run on a cisco asa 5505 two site to site vpns. The remote end of the first site is a checkpoint firewall , and the remote end of the second site is racoon on debian. Both sites are up and working. However, where at the first site traffic goes both ways, at the second site it only works from the central office to the remote office.
For example, I can ssh from a host in the central office to a host in the first remote site (through checkpoint firewall,) then ssh back from that host at the remote office to any host in the central office. In contrast, after I ssh from a host in the central office to a host in the second remote office (through racoon), I cannot see the central office hosts (ping the ip address of a central office host, ssh, etc. all fail.) The vpn settings at the central office (the cisco asa 5505) are identical. So it seems to me that some routing magic is missing on the host running racoon at the second remote office. Where would such setting reside? racoon config files? iptables?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to setup my Ubuntu 9.10 laptop to host a small website that I can practice and learn stuff with and I'm a little stuck at the minute.
I have got Apache2 and the LAMP stack installed okay, along with phpMyAdmin and can give my external IP to anyone with the http:// and anyone can view my website that way but what I want to do is have my IP resolve into a domain name like ooloo-website.net but I don't know how to do this.
Is there any way that I can do this like register my IP to a free DNS and domain website without buying a domain or using one of those free ones like ooloo.webhost.net or do I need to host everything myself like DNS and the domain? Can I even do all of this myself?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have succeeded in using Remote Desktop Viewer to make a VNC connection to a remote WAN computer and it was quick enough to manipulate the remote computer in real time.I found the host name by getting the remote target computer to put the following url into a browser - http://www.showmyip.com/ - It returned the address for the router which I put into the Host: text entry box in the Remote Desktop Viewer window. E.g. for my computer at the time of submitting my enquiry the address was 'host81-129-54-226.range81-129.btcentralplus.com'.The remote router that I connected to needed to have the port 5900 forwarded to the remote target computer.I now want to progress to running VNC through a SSH tunnel for additional security. In the Remote Desktop Viewer there is a configuration line
'use host' <text box to enter host name> 'as a SSH tunnel'.What is the correct syntax to enter in the text box? It would help my understanding if you used the example address above as a basis for a response.Many unexpected connection attempts reported on my router, if that was you, thank you for the novel way in responding to the question and providing the syntax.The 'bible' on syntax appears to be found here:- http://unixhelp.ed.ac.uk/CGI/man-cgi?ssh+1
In the office there is a local network with samba+openldap PDC. The local domain name is company.net. The company desided to create a corporate Website on a remote hosting and desided that the site's domain should be company.net which is same as local network's domain name. So now it is not possible to reach that corporate website from within the company's local network because, as I guess, bind9 which is installed on above menioned PDC looks for company.net on a local webserver. Is there a possibility to let people from this local network browse the remote site?
