i have been trying to host a site with lampp in ubuntu and i am pretty lost and sick of all the error messages, maby somone could give me a step by step guide how to do it. or got a bether option ?
View 8 RepliesI have a Ubuntu Server that is correctly set up and has been working for awhile. It currently has a domain (Registered by GoDaddy) and it is used as the main. I just bought another domain (From GoDaddy) and I want it to connect to the same server but a different section to host a second site completely separate from the first.
So this is how I want it to be setup:
Domain1 = /var/www/
Domain2 = /var/www/website2
When I put Domain1 in the url like www.domain1.com it will connect to /var/www/
When I put Domain2 in the url like www.domain2.com it will connect to /var/www/website2
I have installed Apache on RHEL 5 ( my personal machine)Now i want to host web site on it for my personal use. Please tell me the step how to do this ?

View 4 Replies View RelatedIf I go to a virtual host it asks me if I want to save "index.php" (Typing in the host name followed by index.php also works). But if I go the main site it does not. This happened after an upgrade to Ubuntu 10.04
Here are some additional details - apachectl -M shows rewrite_module (shared) the host config file has AllowOverride All the dir and php5 modules are loading fine.
Has anyone had issues installing Drupal on centos. I have copied my files into a virtual host container but cannot access the site. Has anybody had experience with this yet? If so, what did you do to get it to work? Also, what differences does anybody know of that is preventing it from installing on 10.10 via the routes it would install on 10.04?

UbuntuA is not the gateway for networkA. UbuntuB is the gateway for NetworkB.I need to comunicate between pc on networkB e those on networkA.This is the "ping situation" (no pc tested has an active firewall):

I had xampp going, but it got messed up and mysql wouldn't start. I thought reinstalling wou;d fix it, but it didn't.

I've been on a quest to enable full routing through my openvpn tunnel between my office and the colo. Masquerading will work, however it will throw off anything key based and makes a lot of things just more difficult and vague in general. Is there an easy way to do this via iptables? I tried using quagga hoping it would magically solve my problems, however it does not seem to do my routing for me . I just did a basic static route within zebra...

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have three locations with a central office connected to two remote locations. At the central office I run on a cisco asa 5505 two site to site vpns. The remote end of the first site is a checkpoint firewall , and the remote end of the second site is racoon on debian. Both sites are up and working. However, where at the first site traffic goes both ways, at the second site it only works from the central office to the remote office.
For example, I can ssh from a host in the central office to a host in the first remote site (through checkpoint firewall,) then ssh back from that host at the remote office to any host in the central office. In contrast, after I ssh from a host in the central office to a host in the second remote office (through racoon), I cannot see the central office hosts (ping the ip address of a central office host, ssh, etc. all fail.) The vpn settings at the central office (the cisco asa 5505) are identical. So it seems to me that some routing magic is missing on the host running racoon at the second remote office. Where would such setting reside? racoon config files? iptables?
How can modify httpd-xampp.conf's permission on my opt/lampp/etc/extra/ directory? I tried chmod-ing it on terminal, there's no error message whatsoever on the terminal but it still can't be modified.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWe want to build a couple internal web apps for about 150 people to use, maybe 10 concurrently of any one app/site. LAMPP seems to be pretty simple to use for all it does, but their website has the following disclaimer at the bottom of this post, and there's some people here, programmers who like to make things way more intense/"cool" for programmers than they need to be for a small shop, who agrue that it shouldn't be used in production. I'm not really sure our internal 150 people classify as the type of "production" they are referring to below, I think they more mean a public facing site. We're never going to grow any bigger than this people-wise, or ever make these public facing sites. Just looking for some advice, as lampp seems very easy to use, as well as easy to backup and restore the entire lampp folder and get going on another server quickly in the event of a disaster.
As mentioned before, XAMPP is not meant for production use but only for developers in a development environment. The way XAMPP is configured is to be open as possible and allowing the developer anything he/she wants. For development environments this is great but in a production environment it could be fatal.
I inherited a project that someone built in lampp, and I need create new SSL certs.
So I go to do so and it says that OpenSSL is not installed and to apt-get and install it.(Ubuntu by the way)
So before I did so, I wondered if it would cause any problems...since it was supposed to be part of the lampp stack.
Maybe a site-to-site Ouija board connection.

The company desided to create a corporate Website on a remote hosting and desided that the site's domain should be company.net which is same as local network's domain name. So now it is not possible to reach that corporate website from within the company's local network because, as I guess, bind9 which is installed on above menioned PDC looks for company.net on a local webserver. Is there a possibility to let people from this local network browse the remote site?

i was trying to move xampp's root directory from /opt/lampp/htdocs to /home/private/htdocs (in order to use Ubuntu One) but when i restarted apache i got "permission denied" when i tried to load the index page.so i said to my self...hey..let's chmod

after a couple of seconds everything begun to disapper, shortcuts on my desktop, my wallpaper...all.i even tried to execute another command with sudo but i got a nice error message that said i don't have permissions to execute bla bla.now i can't even log into my user.
I am working on a cluster for a molecular dynamics class and I have to edit my FORTRAN code (only the newest and best for me!). In order to get through to the cluster I have to ssh in. The network on which the cluster resides is behind a firewall, so I have to ssh through the firewall into the network first.
this is fine, I can login and move files and folders as needed, including sftp-ing into host 1, then into the cluster so I can transfer files from cluster to host and then host to me. This gets rather tiresome, so it would be nice to edit the files in place.
The problem is that when I access my code with emacs it launches the emacs client on Host 1, with no mouse support. I know the purists will howl about how I should be using keyboard shortcuts, but I am a chemist and not a programmer, so the mouse is very nice for me. Is there any way I can perhaps mount the cluster using sshfs so that when I open my code it launches a local instance of emacs? Sorry if this is the wrong forum, but I thought it was network related.
Many of mails sent from my mail server that are in Queue;The main reason is deffered by domains like yahoo,aol,etc.but there is one more error that i keep getting and that is Host Unknown,Below is an example from mail log,The catch is,test mail sent on the same email id sent from my personal mail from the same server i.e. url was deliveredHowever,another mail containing client information sent from customercare@mycompanysdomain ended up in queue.
There are more examples of the same,around 20 domain have the same problem.

I got a bunch of machines (~10) that I share with my co-workers. I have appropriate .ssh file(s) set up so I don't get prompt for password when I try to ssh.Currently I ssh into these hosts and then do a top to check the load before I start using the machine. I need a way to transfer the files en masse from the server with the large number of files to the one that is essentially blank.I don't have space on the used host to simply gzip all the files. I've googled this and see that there may be some combination of tar and/or gzip that will let me do this with some sort of redirection.
I really need and example line of how this can be accomplished. If my explanation seems rather sparse, I can supply more details.
Bit of an odd one, this. I've migrated a website from my old server to a new machine. Both servers run Ubuntu + Apache2. Both only serve a single site, apart from the default site.I've flipped the domain name to the new IP address.The trouble is that after moving the virtual host config over into sites-available, with the necessary link in sites-enabled, Apache attempts to serve from the default web root (/var/www) rather than the actual site content (in /var/www/technology).
