Software :: Script Doesn't Work On My Wireless Clients
Nov 29, 2008
I have a script which runs a few other scripts (in subfolders of the first script) in order to mount some unix/linux shares) Anyway, when I run the file from rc.local and try to pipe the output into a file the file is empty and the shares are not mounted. however when I run the file it mounts everything.... Also, the script doesn't work on my wireless clients...
I've been having this problem since 10.6 released, but have until now been successful with the "just use Thunderbird" response. My sendmail server hasn't been changed, but as clients upgrade from OSX 10.5 to 10.6 suddenly mail.app will no longer connects to send SMTP messages through the server. (IMAP connections to the same server using the same user/pass combinations work perfectly) When I look at the logs, things basically stop right after the STARTTLS command.
Google indicates alot of people are having similar problems, but I'm not seeing any solutions. Do any of you administrate sendmail servers where some of your clients are using Apple's Mail.app on Snow Leopard, and if so what settings are you using? At this point, I'm happy to make changes to the server to accommodate Apple's issue, I have too many Mac users connecting to my server. I just can't figure out what to change. I've enabled virtually every possible login authentication combination, and none of them work.
Sorry for repeating the same old complaint but there doesn't seem to be a common fix: Wireless does not work on my Presario R3000 although SUSE 11.x lists the hardware in the Hardware Information list and the hardware is turned on. Network Manager doesn't display any wireless networks in SUSE while Win 7 can see 4 of them on the same machine. Ubuntu has no problem either
Recently I have installed Fedora 14 on my other laptop. It's a dual boot with Windows 7. Everything worked perfectly fine, networking included, until my friend didn't accidently turned off the wireless by pressing a wireless button on the laptop. Since then the wireless on Fedora doesn't work. It does on Windows thought. I've tried restarting the laptop few times, but the wireless still doesn't want to work again.
I installed opensuse 11.3 succesfully on my acer aspire 5670 (5672) laptop. Everything works except wireless connection. Looking for a solution is follewed the " My wireless doesn't work - a primer on what I should do next" guide on this forum. These are the results i become: (2) Determine what device you have.: 03:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 3945ABG [Golan] Network Connection (rev 02)
I have a Belkin Enhanced Wireless USB Network Adapter Model # F6D4050 v2. The drivers are for windows but the windows wireless drivers app doesnt work. I see a tutorial for a linksys that appears to have the same chipset, but I am not sure if any of the steps need to be modified, also my kernel is a bit different. Here is my kernel:
Just installed kubuntu(maverick) on my laptop. Strangely enough the wireless doesn't seem to be working. I had no issues with a gnome version of maverick. Now I'm probably doing something wrong, since I'm very new to KDE. But there's a little icon for something called "Networking Interface". There are two checkboxes inside the panel. One's called "Enable Networking"(checked) and "Enable Wireless" which is disabled.
Other than that I can't really elaborate further. I doubt it's a driver issue, since as I already mentioned I had no problems using a gnome ubuntu.
I have an Atheros wireless USB dongle that will connect to my Wifi network just fine in Gnome but in KDE doesn't. I've read through the http://wiki.debian.org/WiFi/HowToUse and have installed all packages and tried all methods noted there but still can't get the wlan0 to work at all in KDE. Is wireless in KDE & Debian Squeeze useless?
I'm running Ubuntu 10.04 on my laptop. Up until about a week ago, my wireless worked fine, but now it rarely connects. Sometimes the connection indicator shows that I am connected, but when I click on it it doesn't show any active networks. Even when I use a wired connection it doesn't always work.
I've got a problem with my wireless connection. I've recently installed Linux Mint Isadora on my Asus Eee pc R101 netbook and I now can't find the wireless drivers to get it work.
I'm using Xubuntu 10.10 and trying desperately to connect to my wireless network. I have tried wicd and network manager when I crashed wicd. First of all I would get a "bad password" message, then I progressed to a "cannot assign IP" now I can connect to the network and see my netbook on my routers GUI but I can't browse. I have an ASUS 901 (bought with Xandros installed as standard). I'm not sure if I am making progress or not because half of the time, I only have a vague idea of what I am doing.
I have HP 620 and i installed Fedora 14, but my wireless card doesn't work. My card is:02:00.0 Network controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8191SEvA Wireless LAN Controller (rev 10) Under Live Ubuntu the card works very well, but under fedora doesn't work. It's look like the fedora doesn't a driver.
I installed openSUSE 11.3 under 2 machines, one of them using a Linksys USB wireless N adapter (rt73usb) and another using an Atheros AR5001 Wireless Network Adapter (ath5k). I have a Belkin f5D8236-4 router, with the SSID "linksys". I also have an Ubuntu 10.04 machine which has working wireless internet. I know almost nothing about networking, but from what I can tell, openSUSE 11.3 seems to have trouble with DHCP, specifically setting the dynamic IP address. To try to go about fixing this, I attempted to set a static IP, but I am quite confused by all the settings.
I have tried both the graphical "Network Manager" (KDE, Gnome, and command line versions) and ifup, both with no luck.
Here is the information from the working Ubuntu machine code...
Last week used lxde11.3 and no problem connecting. Today I switched to xfce11.3 and the wifi card is registering fine as connected but it doesn't send the key out apparently to register the connection to the modem so it is fully activated.
I think lxde had a network manager but in xfce here I'm using Yast. What mismatch do I have here ? How do I start a network manager so the key will connect ?
I'm working on Lucid, in HP Pavilion 9730us laptop.
My wireless broadcom card was working just fine until now as i installed it with the Hardware Devices manager, Today i put a new ALFA AWUS036H usb card to work with aircrack. both cards were working together for a while, but as i started playing around with aircrack the broadcom card of the HP has stopped working.
I made a mistake and followed the aircrack tutorial for R8187 / ieee80211 stacks driver, while i'm using RTL 8187 / mac80211 stack drivers, and blacklisted the RTL8187 , rebooted and then both card didn't work. I un-blacklisted it, and the ALFA is working but the broadcom not!
iwconfig shows me only one wireless card on wlan0 the blue light showing activity in the HP card doesn't go on.
Tried to uninstall and reinstall broadcom drivers, still no change.
I use kmail in kubuntu 8.04. Whenever I have a wired connection, kmail checks email and sends messages just fine. However, any time I switch to wireless, kmail just says "No new messages," without even checking. I am also unable to send email over wireless.
I got Ubuntu 10.10 installed. Unfortunately, my wireless doesnt work. I'm connected to my router, but web pages wont load.
I thought to myself, maybe Ubuntu needs to update. So I lugged my computer out to the router itself and okugged my computer in. I went into update manager and let it do its thing. It was PAINFULLY slow. I had a less than 100 b/s. But I let it do its thing. After all 200 Mb's were done, which took a couple hours, I rebooted my system. Now, I cant even connect to my wireless and the internet symbol (the wireless bars thing in the top right) is gone.
I've just upgraded to Ubuntu 11.04. Everything worked fine, until I rebooted. Now I can not connect to my home wireless internet, so I can't re-enable third party software sources. I am currently using a different computer, so I know that our internet works. I checked the wireless switch on my laptop, and it says that wireless is enabled. I've rebooted, and it still doesn't work. I tried our wired internet, and that didn't work either (although I'm not sure if our wired internet works; we haven't used it in a few years)
I just installed Ubuntu 11.04 on my Dell Latitude D420 and installed the restricted driver for WiFi but it still doesn't work. It worked great on 10.10.0c:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4311 802.11b/g WLAN (rev 01)
Last night I installed Ubuntu 10.10. Everything is going on very well. But after installation when I reboot the system my A4 TECH WIRELESS MOUSE (MODEL-G3-230)does not work. Its pointer is moving freely but no left or right click is working. My Keyboard is working fine without problem. Is there any solution to this problem?
My intel pro wireless 2200 NIC doesn't work anymore. Yesterday it did, but not today (I didn't do anything special, so that it could go wrong). What is ucode and -62? Any ideas? I already checked the forums and found that ipw doesn't work when ndiswrapper is loaded. Well, I don't have it loaded. What happend?
I've been with Ubuntu since about 10.10 and a little before, but did a trial. I just installed 11.04 tonight, and my wireless driver is having an issue. I installed it, and reset my computer to complete the installation, but it still doesn't pick up anything wireless, just Ethernet.
Got new keyboard yesterday. Could easy set up it when was logged in. After reboot it doesn't work at all. Running fc11-2.6.32.21. Has anyone have any ideas / solutions?
(Beginner)Just installed openSUZE 11.1 Dual boot with Vista. I can set up my wireless settings, wep, etc and it says it connects just fine. But when I try to USE the internet it doesn't work. Nothing in update, nothing in firefox. It says it is connected but it's acting like something is blocking it.
I was hoping that 11.3 would sort this ongoing problem out for me. It works, it doesn't work so on and so forth! Following the "My wireless doesn't work - a primer on what I should do next page" the first few cmnd line entries were irrelevant. However, here are the results (edited) of the dmesg file.

I've recently installed KDE 4.4.1 just to try on a Dell 1545 laptop with Ubuntu 9.10 previously installed.
My problem is that the wireless connection works just perfectly with nm-applet under Gnome, but when I login on KDE and ask KNetworkManager to connect to the same network as before, it can't finish the connection.
When I choose the connection the program asks for my passphrase, I type it and then it just sticks on "activating network" and nothing happens.
My experience with KDE is zero, so I don't even know where to start looking. I'd even tried to kill KNetworkManager and try to replace it with nm-applet, but I think there's a daemon that restarts it immediately.
