Debian Configuration :: Wireless In KDE Doesn't Work
Sep 10, 2011
I have an Atheros wireless USB dongle that will connect to my Wifi network just fine in Gnome but in KDE doesn't. I've read through the http://wiki.debian.org/WiFi/HowToUse and have installed all packages and tried all methods noted there but still can't get the wlan0 to work at all in KDE. Is wireless in KDE & Debian Squeeze useless?
So, as per Arch Linux's wiki, I tried to make some optimisations to the intel driver through setting it up in Xorg.conf (or as advised by that wiki article, in '/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-intel.conf' ), but I've ran into trouble enabling DRI3. Here's my current config file:
So far everything works fine, I haven't seen any noticeable tearing, nor did I had any problems with any graphics-intensive programs I run, but there's a slight problem with the DRI3 part as indicated by Xorg's logs:
Code: Select all[ 26.556] (II) Loading sub module "dri2" [ 26.556] (II) LoadModule: "dri2" [ 26.556] (II) Module "dri2" already built-in [ 26.556] (==) Depth 24 pixmap format is 32 bpp [ 26.616] (II) intel(0): SNA initialized with Haswell (gen7.5, gt2) backend [ 26.616] (==) intel(0): Backing store enabled
[Code] ....
First of all it still mentions the DRI2 driver, is this supposed to happen, or did something go wrong? Also it complains that it cannot find a file, which I can't figure out which package it belongs to, and taking a quick search around the interwebs hasn't produced anything useful...
The IGP is the CPU, which is actually a i5-4460... which according to Wikipedia it has a HD Graphics 4600 GPU.
My net-book is working properly with Debian squeeze 2-6-32-5-686, only the wlan does not work. After typing lsusb I have got the message: lsusb : Bus 002 Device 002 : ID 160a:3184 VIA Technologies, Inc. VIA VNT-6656 [WiFi 802.11b/g USB Dongle]
So I obtained the driver package : VT6656_Linux_src_v1.19_12_x86. I followed the instructions ( make install... ) - but the result is only a lot of error messages. Mayby I am using the wrong driver package for the squeeze kernel - I don't know.
i created a second instance of postfix. It isn' t the first time that i made this procedure but with debian i had a lot of problem.I think that the problem is chroot configuration of postfix .In the first i had two problem smtp “fatal: unknown service: smtp/tcp” and the second instance was enable to make nslookup of domain.I copied the necessary file in /var/spool/postfix-second-instace and i solved the errors. Now the problem is that there aren't error in log file but connect to xxx.xxx.net[yyy.nn.yyy.yyy]:25: Connection timed out for all connection. and the email are all in defer directory and the second instance doesn' t send emails.
Debian configurating, so I try to use wifi adapter, but it doesn't work. I have installed Debian Jessie from netinst CD. To reach perfect speed no options were selected. After I installed xfce4 and xfce4-goodies.I follow some different instructions and no dice. Wicd show me no avalable wifi connections. used Ubuntu 14, Ubuntu 12, etc. and I didn't have any problems with wi-fi connections. Some outputs of comands...
I have Debian Squeeze x64 on ThinkPad T61p with standard 2.6.32-5-amd64 kernel. thinkpad_acpi loaded as module, suspend to RAM works fine from menu in KDE as well as by closing the lid, however machine doesn't appear to react on pressing Fn+F4 which should put it to sleep as well. I've read through thinkpad_acpi documentation and asked Google but so far can't find the solution. Can anyone, point me in correct direction?
last week while I was using ssh to the computer1 inside a NAT as usual, I made another tunnel from the computer1 that I was connecting to, to another computer2 inside that NAT (ssh 192.168.1.130) and after making some changes in computer2 I typed reboot. The computer2 rebooted but the tunnel totally hung and I had to kill it in my laptop. Since that day I haven't been able to ssh to the computer1 as I am used to.
Here is some more information:
debug3: authmethod_is_enabled publickey debug1: Next authentication method: publickey debug1: Offering public key: /home/une/.ssh/id_rsa
I'm having trouble getting my wireless card (RNX-G300LX, from Rosewill) working with my Debian install. I had it working at one point in time, but (apparently) something has gone wrong, as it no longer connects. The network I'm trying to connect to uses WPA2. When I try to start up my wireless card as follows: # ifup wlan0
I get the following response: wmaster0: unknown hardware address type 801 wmaster0: unkown hardware address type 801 Listening on LPF/wlan0/00:1a:... Sending on LPF/wlan0/00:1a:... Sending on Socket/fallback

I have set up /etc/network/interfaces as follows: auto lo iface lo inet loopback iface wlan0 inet dhcp wpa-conf /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf auto wlan0 and /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf looks like this: ctrl_interface=/var/run/wpa_supplicant ctrl_interface_group=0 ap_scan=1 fast_reauth=1 network={ ssid="apt_102" scan_ssid=1 key_mgmt=WPA-PSK psk="mypassword" proto=WPA2 }
I should also note that running wpa_cli -i wlan0 tells me that it is "trying to associate" with my router, but authentication times out each time.
I have recently bought a branded Onda MT835UP USB broadband modem. The hardware comes with its own drivers/GUI for linux, however I'd rather use the Debian-provided NetworkManager+modemmanager packages.
A few details:
- I'm using debian unstable, - latest NetworkManager 0.8.2-3 from experimental - latest modemmanager 0.4+git$foo from testing - latest usb_modeswitch[_data] from experimental
I'm very new to Debian (and Linux in general), and am currently taking a Linux course at college... I'm trying to get Debian running on my MacBook Pro (late 2009 model) and it's been complicated but I've got the operating system installed on it... I'm just having a few problems, the biggest right now of which is my wireless card, which doesn't work. So, I found instructions on the Debian Wiki for getting the driver for it, but it's not compiled already and I have little knowledge of manually installing stuff through Linux...
I've been trying for a couple of days now to get the Huawei E1750 to work but have had no luck so far. I've installed the packages usb-modeswitch-1.1.4 and usb-modeswitch-data and have edited the usb-modeswitch.conf to include the following:
Sorry for repeating the same old complaint but there doesn't seem to be a common fix: Wireless does not work on my Presario R3000 although SUSE 11.x lists the hardware in the Hardware Information list and the hardware is turned on. Network Manager doesn't display any wireless networks in SUSE while Win 7 can see 4 of them on the same machine. Ubuntu has no problem either
Recently I have installed Fedora 14 on my other laptop. It's a dual boot with Windows 7. Everything worked perfectly fine, networking included, until my friend didn't accidently turned off the wireless by pressing a wireless button on the laptop. Since then the wireless on Fedora doesn't work. It does on Windows thought. I've tried restarting the laptop few times, but the wireless still doesn't want to work again.
I installed opensuse 11.3 succesfully on my acer aspire 5670 (5672) laptop. Everything works except wireless connection. Looking for a solution is follewed the " My wireless doesn't work - a primer on what I should do next" guide on this forum. These are the results i become: (2) Determine what device you have.: 03:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 3945ABG [Golan] Network Connection (rev 02)
I have a Belkin Enhanced Wireless USB Network Adapter Model # F6D4050 v2. The drivers are for windows but the windows wireless drivers app doesnt work. I see a tutorial for a linksys that appears to have the same chipset, but I am not sure if any of the steps need to be modified, also my kernel is a bit different. Here is my kernel:
i have a HP MSA 2312fc SAN with 2 LUNs configured. The first LUN (LUN ID 1) is correctly connected to the system, but when i connect the second LUN (LUN ID 30), i find in the syslog this message: multipathd: 8:64: size 6835937472, expected 5267578112. Discard
Here is the multipath.conf
[Code]....
So I correctly see the two luns, but multipath doesn't create the relative devices. Under /dev/mapper I see: control mpath0 mpath0-part1 mpath0-part1 is the first lun, the one I mounted in a directory under filesystem. I can't find the device for the second lun
I installed apache on my local machine to test websites. I have one problem: I created a new site configuration in /etc/apache2/sites-available and enabled it. The problem is that cgi is not working, it just prints the content of the files. (The default location for cgi, /usr/lib/cgi-bin works without problem.) Here is the content of the site configuration file:
I can see that in yum-updatesd configuration i can use smtp_server to rely mail notifications as per below outputs from man pages smtp_server SMTP server to use when sending mail, host or a hostort string. Defaults to localhost:25. The problem that this option doesn't work at all and it rely into the local MTA not the one set on the smtp_server

I'm trying to setup a wireless AP with my old asus eeepc, so it can act as a repeater to connect my android device on the other end of the apartment. I've already created the Wireless Access Point using hostapd. It took very little configuring, just changed from mode 'a' to 'g' and changed the channel from 60 to 1 and It was all set. Next I setup a dhcp server. Also simple enough using yast.
Up to this point, I was able to connect my android device to the newly created wireless network. However It doesn't have internet access. I guess I have to configure iptables for this, but I find it incredibly confusing! Here are a few specs to help with any examples: The laptop is connected to the internet through eth0 with IP 192.168.2.120 Hostapd is using wlan0, and I'm pretty sure it created mon.wlan0 So, to sum up, when I connect my android device to the network I can, for instance, see what ever pages apache is currently serving on the laptop, but can't access the internet.
Just installed kubuntu(maverick) on my laptop. Strangely enough the wireless doesn't seem to be working. I had no issues with a gnome version of maverick. Now I'm probably doing something wrong, since I'm very new to KDE. But there's a little icon for something called "Networking Interface". There are two checkboxes inside the panel. One's called "Enable Networking"(checked) and "Enable Wireless" which is disabled.
Other than that I can't really elaborate further. I doubt it's a driver issue, since as I already mentioned I had no problems using a gnome ubuntu.
I just got myself a Dell Inspiron 1440. And decided to install my favorite distro Debian. I got the installation to go with no issue and all seems to be working fine. However the wireless isn't working. NetworkManager doesnt even detect a wireless card. I followed the instructions here and installed the b43-fwcutter and then issued the modprobe b43 and modprobe b43legacy commands. Then I issued the iwconfig command and this was the output.

Also, I've been doing some research and found out about some file located /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules. So I looked in mine and found out that only my eth0 is added.
I'm running Ubuntu 10.04 on my laptop. Up until about a week ago, my wireless worked fine, but now it rarely connects. Sometimes the connection indicator shows that I am connected, but when I click on it it doesn't show any active networks. Even when I use a wired connection it doesn't always work.
I've got a problem with my wireless connection. I've recently installed Linux Mint Isadora on my Asus Eee pc R101 netbook and I now can't find the wireless drivers to get it work.
I'm using Xubuntu 10.10 and trying desperately to connect to my wireless network. I have tried wicd and network manager when I crashed wicd. First of all I would get a "bad password" message, then I progressed to a "cannot assign IP" now I can connect to the network and see my netbook on my routers GUI but I can't browse. I have an ASUS 901 (bought with Xandros installed as standard). I'm not sure if I am making progress or not because half of the time, I only have a vague idea of what I am doing.
