Ubuntu :: Opengl Rendering Is Not Continuous?

Mar 27, 2010

I have openGL working fine on my system. The only problem is that when I try to run the executable file, nothing appears unless the full scene has been rendered. In fact, it appears in parts, i.e. updates after a second, then after another second etc...However, earlier, the rendering used to be continuous and I could see each pixel getting rendered in a continuous fashion.

OpenSUSE :: Application Launcher Changed To Simple Context Menu?

Jun 8, 2011

Suddenly the application launcher (the one that pops out when pressing the green chameleon button) has changed and I no longer get the formerly so pretty application launcher. Instead I now get a simple context menu style drop down menu.

I first noticed this after I updated PackageKit. is there a way to get this back to the previous applicationn launcher. When adding just the applet (without the button) it still looks the same, just the button doesn't pop it out anymore, as it chose to pop out a grey drop down instead.

This is on OpenSuse 11.4 KDE 4.5 and the latest desktop kernel

Software :: Finding A Remote Desktop Application That Will Work With OpenGL

Nov 22, 2010

I need to be able to open an openGL based piece of software remotely (like Maya or 3D Studio Max, for example). The server will be a linux machine (CentOS, currently, fwiw), but the client should be able to run on at least Linux and Windows. This will happen over the internet as opposed to over a LAN.

So far, I've tried

- "NoMachine NX" which is pretty good, but it seems to have some issues with GL. Maybe this can be fixed in xorg on the server (disabling overlays or something like that)? not sure.

- HP Remote Graphics Software (RGS) which works fairly well with Cent & Windows, though is sometimes a little slow. It also doesn't seem to be happy on Ubuntu, which is a pretty big bummer. It's also a bummer that it's somewhat expensive. That said, it's still the front-runner.

- VNC which was very slow.

It's imperative that it can transmit very complex rendered OpenGL properly. It's ok if it's slow to tumble/refresh, but it should be correct.

Fedora :: Wine/opengl/32 To 64 Bit - Cannot Load OpenGL When Try To Start WoW

Oct 19, 2009

I just upgraded from FC8 (32-bit) to FC11 (64-bit). In doing so, I backed up my entire World of Warcraft folder so I could try to avoid having to download and install it all over again. However, I've now reinstalled wine (64-bit now), and the nvidia drivers from the rpmfusion repos (also 64-bit), and when I try to start WoW, it says it cannot load OpenGL. I'm wondering if anyone knows what's up, and if there's a solution that doesn't involve reinstalling WoW.

Ubuntu :: X11 And OpenGL - Keep Getting Resolution Error

Jan 14, 2011

I was trying to get a game to work (scorched 3d) but I kept getting a resolution error. So I did some looking around and found that I had to do something with xorg.conf in /usr/bin/x11 (if I remember). Well I didn't have that file, so I installed a program that had it (and for the life of me, I don't remember what it was). Long story short, I tried to run a different game (foobillard) and it wouldnt run. So I ran from terminal and got an error saying that x11 is not configured with opengl. Now I am mad cuz that was my favorite game. Is there a way to reset x11 and opengl without losing everything?

The docs say that quicktime requires these properties:

Fedora :: How To Create Launcher For Application Using DosBox

Jun 13, 2011

how do I create a launcher for an application using DosBox? I tried in Alacarte, but it does not show up. I did this both as root and as user.Disregard. It did create the launchers. It just put them in "Other" even though I told it to create them in "Internet" so they are there, but just not where I want them. That is okay since now I can add them to my favorites and put them in the order I want.

I guess I will like Gnome 3 better as I find tweaks to make it work like I want it to work. Still though, it is not nearly as user friendly as my heavily tweaked Gnome 2 with Compiz.Another question though: How do I get it to select and use a photo I want for the background instead of the stock images? It is annoying as all get-out to have the screen turn to grey rather than stay the way I want it. :
