I was wandering if anyone may know of a way to install it or if anyone knows of any other available drivers. I have searched everywhere for i dont know how long and came up with nothing i have tried installing the 32bit libraries and it didnt help.. and going back a 32bit system is out of the question due to ubuntu not wanting to load.. i think it has something to due with my hard drive being to large... but im using ubuntu 10.10 maverick 64bit...

I am trying to connect to a network printer Dell 3110cn from Fedora 14 x64. Till a few days ago, everything was fine. However, over the last few days, I am unable to print anything using my old settings and I am unable to print even if I delete the printer and reinstall it.
During setup, Fedora is able to connect to the printer and I am able to install the drivers and everything. But, when I print something (even the test page), I get the error message
"Unable to write print data - Broken pipe'.
I have searched online quite a bit about this problem. Most suggestions were to look if the printer status was "Idle - Ready/Accepting Jobs" since the problem in those cases was that the printer status was "Printer not ready". But in my case, the printer is recognized but unable to print.
I am new to Linux having just recently installed Fedora 10 on my Dell Inspiron 1720. I bought a Lexmark x4975 wireless printer which comes with an installation disk for windows and Mac only. Any ideas how I can install the printer on my linux setup?
View 3 Replies View RelatedThis card has been the bane of my existence for a while. In the old days I could get it to work with Fedora using a generic video driver. A friend recommended OpenSuse because of my love for KDE.
The good news is that install went greeeeat. But after that, I once again got a black screen with a line randomly done it. Is there a way to change? I tried changing those resolution options but it didn't work. I have the Windoze driver from Dell's site. Its Dell Inspiron 5160.
I have tried both the i386 (worked) and x86 64 dvd iso installations. Both sha1sum results don't match. I got a torrent copy and it's sha1sum doesn't match either.
The problem is with the x86 64 iso dvd. It boots but takes a long time(2-3 minutes)to load ata_piix driver when the title bar says Loading SCSI driver. After it finishes loading that driver, when prompted for the installation method, if I select CD/DVD, I'm prompted to select a driver or install disk for driver. I've tried several different generic ata drivers from the list and end up with a strange memory map interwoven with a multi color(red, white and blue)
copied output as best I can.

I have recently bought a Dell Inspiron N5010 Laptop....and I am facing a lot of problems as most of the hardware seems to have no driver installed.... I am a not an expert, so the problems seem overwhelming to me. I have looked around for solutions on the Internet...but there seems to be no collective solution to my problem. The information regarding the problems I can provide is as follows.....

I've been configuring a kickstart installation of Fedora 14, and everything was working fine on a slightly older Dell Precision 490. The machines we're actually going to use, are Dell Precision T7400, and when I tried on thoseit had some issues with the SAS controller, and is unable to see the hard drive in the machine. I get the following error (see attached dmesg output for more details):
Code:

I have a Samsung ML-1430 laser printer connected to my Fedora 12 box. I downloaded the appropriate Linux driver tar file from the Samsung website. After extracting the tar file into a directory called image, the following took place:
This generates a "Linux Printer Package Setup" pop-up screen.

This post is for an HP parallel printer but I think it should work for at least "some" other parallel printers.I am sure that someone smarter than me will follow up this post with a "well, just do this and that" and you will have your HP Laserjet 6P printer ready to go, but since questions litter the forums of MANY distros on how to get "at least" an HP parallel printer to work, I'll post this anyway. This may or may not work for you if you do not have an HP but you can try it.The install printer box will let you do an install for an HP Parallel and it asks for how it is to talk to it, through CUPS sock or "local host'. When we get through what I recommend you should chose "local host".

View 7 Replies View RelatedHow can I install Samsung's ML-1710 printer driver? I've already tried using Samsung's "Unified Linux Driver" from their website. Unfortunately, it does not work; while the installation program claims to "install" the needed driver, all attempts (including local) to print using that ML-1710 printer & printer driver set fail.
It's noteworthy that I can print on the ML-1710 printer, over the network, from both windows and other Linux (Ubuntu) workstations.

Fedora is having trouble identifying a raid partition, it sees them as separate drives. I got drivers from dell, but during a Fedora dvd install, it mentions nothing about a place to install extra drivers.
When it says it must "initialize" the drives, Fedora then breaks the dell bios raid. How to either install the dell drivers or make Fedora see the raid partition as one?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently had problems with my HP printer in Fedora 12, where as I never had a problem with it in any other distrubution.... For some reason, the HPLIP driver in the repo doesn't work correctly... I don't know why... but I kept getting errors with "error: Printer queue setup failed. Please restart CUPS and try again."
I tried every suggestion I found... which was installing extra dependencies, disabling firewall, disabling SELinux and a whole bunch of other stuff... but nothing worked... THEN finally I decided to use the HPLIP driver from the HP website... it was a .run file... and I executed it, and my printer has worked perfect eversince..... my question is.... has anybody successfully installed their hp printer from the hplip driver in the repo's..??? I don't know why it didn't work for me, and i've seen other fedora users complain of the same thing? maybe theres something wrong with the package? or its not pulling in a needed dependency? I don't know...
