View 1 Replies View RelatedI was curious as to if there was a way to install a 32bit driver on a 64bit system. I have a dell v515w printer and the only driver they provide for it is a 32bit driver. I was wandering if anyone may know of a way to install it or if anyone knows of any other available drivers. I have searched everywhere for i dont know how long and came up with nothing i have tried installing the 32bit libraries and it didnt help.. and going back a 32bit system is out of the question due to ubuntu not wanting to load.. i think it has something to due with my hard drive being to large... but im using ubuntu 10.10 maverick 64bit...

View 2 Replies View RelatedThis card has been the bane of my existence for a while. In the old days I could get it to work with Fedora using a generic video driver. A friend recommended OpenSuse because of my love for KDE.
The good news is that install went greeeeat. But after that, I once again got a black screen with a line randomly done it. Is there a way to change? I tried changing those resolution options but it didn't work. I have the Windoze driver from Dell's site. Its Dell Inspiron 5160.
This is my first attempt with Yum and Fedora for that matter. I need to load a print driver and network driver for an MX860 printer. I downloaded the drivers and they are in the download folder. When I try to install I get what is below. How do I resolve? Do I need to identify where the driver is? If so, how?
[compaq@compaq ~]$ su -c'yum install cnijfilter-mx860series-3.10-1-i386-rpm.tar.gz'

I have downloaded drivers for Ubuntu 10.04 to interface with Lexmark X6650, and can easily print documents from Ubuntu 10.04. However, I cannot figure out how to access the scan function.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am currently using ubuntu 10.10 and trying to install the current driver for a lexmark x2600 printer. I retrieved the driver from the lexmark site, to be specific the debian version. Once I had the driver unzipped I was able to run the program to start installing it. However the problem is that it requires root privileges in order to install. So I input my admin password to allow the install. Apparently the password I use is not correct even though it is the admin/root password on my system.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI tried to find my solution for hours now but no luck. I'm a medical student and the other day I finally found the time to set up ubuntu for my first time. Everything was working great and I had wireless up and running. However, I tried to set up tethering to my iphone and after that my wireless hasn't been working (I've noticed no other problems). [URL]..Then I used this tutorial [URL].. However, after doing these steps the computer needed to reboot (I actually forget exactly where but I had to reboot in the middle of the second tutorial). After my computer restarted my wireless no longer showed up. By this I mean that wireless network no longer even showed up as an option when I left clicked then connections. However, I did not lose the wireless profile under network connections. So I went to system and noticed that the Broadcom STA driver was no longer active. So I tried to activate again and received this message.

I love it on my Dell D610 with wifi. I've installed Ubuntu 11.04 and land on the wifi problem as explain here: [URL]
but the wifi BCM4311 seem not working for me. In the hardware/additional drivers, i've the message that the proprearty driver is working and in use. But i cannot scan the network and no way to connect to my d-link via WPA-PSK (TKIP+AES)...
I have had to install the B43 diver before to get wireless to work.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am fairly new to ubuntu having just dumped my winxp and put ubuntu 9.10 desktop on my Dell Inspiron 6400.I thought most things were not too bad. A few challenges, lots of things to learn. I have wine installed for some windows programmes I need and I am running winxp under virtualbox for some other things that are too hard under ubuntu.
But the biggest challenge so far has been printing. One of the printers I print to is a Toshiba estudio 232 photocopier and I need to do some fairly complex printing to it - one of the more complex being booklet printing. The windows printer drivers for the Toshiba have a swathe of configurable items that make it all work reasonably well and the driver is a snack to install.
But the dramas I have had trying to get it running under ubuntu have been taxing. After a lot of mucking around I finally managed to get ubuntu to use a Toshiba ppd instead of the generic one (I hope I am using the correct terminology) and I finally have access to some options. Not anywhere near the number of options under windows and in a far, far less friendly format but some progress at least. However not enough progress for the printing needs I have so I still have to use winxp under virtualbox to print the documents.Has anyone else experienced these dramas and is there any good answers?
I'm using Epson TX110 printer at the moment, it contains both scanner and printer.
I've installed Epson TX109 driver on Ubuntu, and it prints fine.
The problem is, how do I get the scanner to work? In the previous Windows, there's a program that allows you to scan and edit files, can I do it here too?
I installed printer drivers from a deb package and now I can't install/update anything!! I get this error:
jordan@jordan-desktop:~$ sudo apt-get install gtk-recordmydesktop
[sudo] password for jordan:
Sorry, try again.
[sudo] password for jordan:
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
You might want to run `apt-get -f install' to correct these:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
gtk-recordmydesktop: Depends: recordmydesktop (>= 0.3. but it is not going to be installed
pstocanonbj: Depends: libcupsys2 (>= 1.2.3)
E: Unmet dependencies. Try 'apt-get -f install' with no packages (or specify a solution).
Why is this 1 error tying up the entire install system?
I need driver for this printer and how to install.
