Jun 11, 2011I have ubuntu jaunty 9.04 installed in my system(thats my only OS.. no dual boot). When I tried to install hplip to enable hp printer driver, I understood that 9.04 is obsolete and no more support for it. I want to upgrade now. Update manager shows '10.04' for uogradation but it seems I cannot jump from 9.04 to 10.04 without getting into 9.10.

Sep 27, 2010Having just updated various files including the kernel using Package Manager I no longer seem to have the correct version of the Nvidia graphics driver. On previous updates this has been done automatically by the "kmod Nvidia" Metapackage. My last kernel was 2.6.32.19-163 fc12.i686.PAE and the Nvidia driver for that did get downloaded correctly. Looking on Yumex I cannot see a driver for this latest kernel listed.

The 640 x 480 video display on my FC12 guest is driving me nuts! The VBox Guest Additions are installed. How do I get FC12 to recognize the VBox video driver?
Extra information:
Auto resize works great on my Windows guests. On FC12, I just get a lot of extra white space.
FC12's installer does not detect a video card. You have to use the stand display option (second one down) to get FC12 to go into a full graphical installer. If you use the regular install, hoping to do a graphical install, FC 12 only install the bare basics. No video support. You get what looks like a rescue cd. No Gnone, no X etc.
I do believe that FC12 has no idea that the VBox's fake video adapter even exists.

Mar 9, 2010I just install FC12 after all settings are done I install nvidia driver for PAE kernel whit the command # sudo yum install kmod-nvidia-PAE after reboot the system is not able to boot again.What I can do to uninstall the driver?

Mar 17, 2010The relevant details of my setup are:
Samsung R522 laptop
Realtek RTL8192E wireless network controller (PCI)
Fedora 12, kernel 2.6.32.9-70.fc12.i686 (automatically updated using software update)
My problem is that my wireless card has never worked - basically there aren't any widely available linux drivers, and there are many threads on getting the RTL8192E to work on many different forums, e.g. here, but none specifically for Fedora, so I think that this thread could potentially guide many more users. FYI, my hardwired network connection works perfectly.
Fantastically however, by emailing Realtek support, they'll send you their Linux driver, which most people have claimed works perfectly (although why they haven't just put it on their website is beyond me). SO, I've got a Linux driver for my wireless card. When Realtek emailed me to send me the driver, they said to just 'cd' into the driver directory, then do
su
make clean
make
make install
reboot
./wlan0up or ./wlan1up
OK, so I tried to do this and get the following error:
make: *** /lib/modules/2.6.32.9-70.fc12.i686/build: No such file or directory. Stop.
make: *** [all] Error 2
I don't know enough about linux to understand this error. I really don't want to have to recompile my kernel, and I hope there is some way to install this driver with not too much hassle. How to overcome this error, and install my wireless driver so I can get wireless network access on my Fedora 12 operating system. I've found Fedora 12 really easy to use so far, but this is proving quite hard!
This is the output of 'ls -lh' in the folder which seems to be causing the error, namely /lib/modules/2.6.32.9-70.fc12.i686/

Fedora :: Load A Print Driver And Network Driver For An MX860 Printer?
Apr 15, 2010This is my first attempt with Yum and Fedora for that matter. I need to load a print driver and network driver for an MX860 printer. I downloaded the drivers and they are in the download folder. When I try to install I get what is below. How do I resolve? Do I need to identify where the driver is? If so, how?

Jun 16, 2010Recently upgraded from FC11 to FC12, and lost the ability to print to my network printer. Couldn't figure it out, though I can continue to print from an old FC9 server, so I know it's not the print server, Netgear PS110 or the printer Samsung ML-2510. In desperation, I upgraded to FC13, and still no dice. Don't think it's a network problem as I've tried with a disabled local firewall (I'm behind a network firewall) and even disabled SELinux.
If I go through system-config-printer, I probe for network printers, and can discover the print server, but the queue is wrong (it has two ports, P1 and P2.) Neither PASSTHRU or manually written P1, the connected port, work. It will spool, then disappear. I'm using the Samsung ML-2150 Driver which I understand works for this printer and used to work on FC9, because the printer is not listed directly in CUPS' database.

Jul 10, 2011I'm trying to find out when QME2572 (Qlogic) card became support by the kernel. We have a RHEL 5.1 system that is moving to new hardware, however the kernel at this release doesn't support the new hardware, due to the Qlogic card change. I tired the Redhat KB and Bugzilla. Is there a Kernel change list etc I can search. Never really played around with the kernel too much so I'm just after some pointers for looking up this information. Offically its not supported until Redhat 5.3, I'm trying trying to research kernel info so I can tell the customer they have to upgrade.

When i try to install in graphics mode after disk checking i.e while anaconda is loading my monitor automatically turned off. So I recognized that problem with some driver. So I installed in text mode. Please tell me where do i get drivers for my system and how to install in my system. I don't have Internet connection for automatic installation using yum which was i found from linux forum so kindly tell me manual installation.

Apr 22, 2010I recently had problems with my HP printer in Fedora 12, where as I never had a problem with it in any other distrubution.... For some reason, the HPLIP driver in the repo doesn't work correctly... I don't know why... but I kept getting errors with "error: Printer queue setup failed. Please restart CUPS and try again."
I tried every suggestion I found... which was installing extra dependencies, disabling firewall, disabling SELinux and a whole bunch of other stuff... but nothing worked... THEN finally I decided to use the HPLIP driver from the HP website... it was a .run file... and I executed it, and my printer has worked perfect eversince..... my question is.... has anybody successfully installed their hp printer from the hplip driver in the repo's..??? I don't know why it didn't work for me, and i've seen other fedora users complain of the same thing? maybe theres something wrong with the package? or its not pulling in a needed dependency? I don't know...
General :: Blank Screen After Installing Nvidia Driver On Fc12 64 Bit?
May 28, 2010i did yum -y install akmod-nvidia and then type xconfig-nvidia on the terminal,and after logging off i confront with a blank screen,so i remove akomd-nvidia [yum remove akomd-nvidia] and also yum erase xorg-x11-drv-nouveau [yum erase xorg-x11-drv-nouveau]but still no gui,i think i should install:
yum install kmod-nvidia
xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-libs.i686
xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-libs.x86_64 [but i didn't]
so how can i have my gui back?
