View 1 Replies View RelatedI am enjoying the new install of Fedora 12, but am having trouble getting updates. First try more than >500 updates, but I get an error message.
"Could not add package update for abrt-plugin-runapp-1.0.8-2.fc12(i686)updates: abrt-plugin-runapp-1.0.8-2.fc12.i686" and won't continue.
A package I'm trying to install requires libdrm, version 2.4.3 at least. I downloaded version 2.4.6.7, when I tried to install it, it says that it already is even though I passed -U to rpm. Trying to remove the earlier version of libdrm first didn't work either because there are already packages installed depending on it. How can I upgrade this package? (yum isn't an option at this time)
View 5 Replies View RelatedAt my current job it is my responsibility to update all the servers, as well as some of the workstations. Its an easy enough job, I just remote in to each "machine", and use Synaptic to update. Well, we have a package that was created here "key-build-tools-g6" and for some reason, after I update and go to close Synaptic, it says "There are still marked changes that have not yet been applied. They will be lost if you choose to quit 'Synaptic'". If I cancel and "Apply Updates" then look at the "Details" it says "key-build-tools-g6 (version 18) will be upgraded to version 18". I go ahead and update it again, it downloads, and installs, but then when I go to exit... Same thing.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have 9.10 ubuntu installation - I have updated all packages and it is up-to-date. However, I have a issue with the latex installation, not latex so to say, it is the pstricks
Installed package :
texlive-pstricks
version - 2007.dfsg.17-2ubuntu1
Also it is the latest version available in the repo. However, this is not the
latest in pstricks. I find that version in the new 10.04 is 2009-7ubuntu3
Is there some way to get this installed in 9.10? Or I have to upgrade my whole installation?

I'm new to GNU/Linux and recently installed Edubuntu 10.10 beta on a workplace computer. I'm currently a technology intern at a public school and want to install Edubuntu on some older computers here. I am working behind a network proxy provided by the department of education.I tried to install flashplugin-nonfree and noticed I didn't have a full package list. After running sudo apt-get update I get the error "unable to connect to[url]....
I'm thinking this might have to do with the network proxy, but for some reason I'm able to browse http:[url]... just fine in Firefox. How do I update the package list?
Edit: I installed Ubuntu 10.04 on another machine at work and it has the same issue, i.e. I can't update the package list.
Edit 2: I am using a .pac file for the proxy.

View 4 Replies View RelatedOn my Fedora 11 x86_64 computer I have installed OOo 3.1.1 from www.openoffice.org because I need features that Fedora disabled in the repository version. And the latter also shows up in Software Update. Now, I went around and around with this and I know that installing the 1.3.1.1 package will break my OOo. I don't want Software Update even to list the 1.3.1.1 package because sooner or later I will slip up and install it on accident.
Side note: Why does Software Update think 1.3.1.1 is newer than 1.5.1? If it really is newer, someone at OOo needs to learn arithmetic.I think I can add an exclude line to /etc/yum.conf. But I can't figure out the syntax, and I don't know which package to exclude - the one I don't want updated or the alleged update package? Both? Or just the first part "openoffice.org-ure"?
My question is: How to skip the installation of a package when using yum update from the command line? i.e., How would one update a system from command line and skip/not update kernel?
View 4 Replies View RelatedNow, every time I do yum update my system will also offer me package for F12, F13, F14. But if I try to install it, it will not resolve because I my system is still F11. I don't remember exactly what the error message is, but I think it said that I should have system > 13 to install that packages. What should I do so next time I do yum update I just offered packages I needed only?

I'm on OpenSuSE 11.1, and since I needed some features of Firefox 3.5.x I manually updated via 1-Click intall to 3.5.8. Now the Updater-Applet signals a security repo update for FF 3.0.18 which is no longer installed since replaced by the 3.5.8, and I see no way to get rid of the red warning sign; this is very bad since now I get no longer informed about other new updates to really installed packages ....
