When using Amarok in Kubuntu 10.10, the player will shut down after no specific reason. Sometimes if saving a playlist and sometimes when the player changes from one track to another. I presume this is a bug but sadly i do not have regular access to the internet so my system is sometimes up to a month old but no more.
Has anyone experienced similar performance when using Amarok with Kubuntu?
I dont know why but somehow amarok came to startup in my kubuntu machine..
I have checked ~/.kde/Autostart/ but its is empty..
I have tried linux before but I never found one that suited me. I'm now trying kubuntu 10.04 on my mini laptop but I have run into a problem. I have sounds when the computer start and shutdown and other sounds like incoming mail and stuff just not in amarok or any other media player at all nor on ..... and I've been googling it for the last few days and have found others with simular problems but none running Kubuntu 10.04 so I figured I'd give the solutions they got a try but I just can't get them to work on my computer. Might be my lack of linux skill so please go eazy on me and yes I have checked that the audio is not muted. Which codec pack to be installed and how to do it.

I tried several tricks to repair the broken dependencies, but couldn't suceed.
I've spoken to people on the KDE forum about this but am a bit stumped. They advised me to change the phonon backend of Amarok from xine to phonon-backend-gstreamer or phonon-backend-vlc. The latter doesn't seem to be in the repositaries though someone on the KDE forum said otherwise. When I change to gstreamer, Amarok says it cannot play mp3 files. Apparently Kubuntu 10.04's Amarok is a bit old too but I can't see how to update it - does this involve adding a ppa or something?
I've added two other database-type players, Exaile and Rhythmbox, both designed of course for other desktop environments, but they both give gripes about codecs too or won't play. The xine backend causes jumps in playback mentioned in another post.
I have installed the Kubuntu restricted extras, and I even added w32codecs and nonfreecodecs at one point, now removed (--purged). I don't fancy moving to 10.10 as I like the 3 years of not messing about upgrading/reinstalling. I would ideally update just Amarok and KDE itself.
For the last few releases, I've remained with Amarok 1.4, but now that I've deemed Amarok 2 stable enough, I've upgrade, however, the lyrics to my songs (which I put in a lot of effort in downloading), are not reflecting. Is there anyway to export lyrics from Amarok 1.4 and import them in Amarok 2?

Boot drive is sata, with an external ntfs 1.5 tb USB/firewire/externalSATA connection (using USB at the moment.) nVidia 9800 GT video card (8300 gt on mobo.)It takes literally hours to boot up and more hours to shutdown this system.e point I am ready to hit hardware reset to continue. I've Ubuntu Server 10.04 and am just using the terminal, no GUI like Gnome. So far it's working pretty great except for one big thing.
Whenever I go to sleep and there's no activity on my servers (it's not a big site so active users drop to 0 during the night), the server kind of disconnects. The only thing that can bring the site back online is to restart the whole server. I've tried disabling powersaving by using setterm but that changes nothing. Even if I wake up the server by pressing any key or so the site wont go back online!
I've tried just restarting both Apache and MySQL (I'm using LAMP-server btw) but not even that works. But as soon as I turn the power off and on at the server, everythings work like normal for a couple of minutes of inactivity (~5-15 minutes I'd guess) and then it's down again unless someone logs in to the site and is active.
I don't shutdown my OS really often and sometimes the driver of my soundcard seems to crash so I need to restart it. I use the command "rcalsasound restart" which works well or "/etc/init.d/alsasound restart" but I lose the volume control during the operation. Moreover, I have a dell laptop with sound keys and naturally it doesn't work to. Do you know how to restart the volume control applet? And I'd like to know why these commands don't start also the volume control (I'd like to know a bit more how it works).

Tri-booting. They were installed in the order I listed above. I ran into a few bugs with Kubuntu, so I no longer want to use it. I want to use GParted on a LiveCD to format Kubuntu and expand my Ubuntu home partition to sit on top of Kubuntu's space right now. If I nuke Kubuntu, will Grub still exist with my Ubuntu/XP entries to boot?
I would like to apply KDE on my Kubuntu because the current one blew up. But each time I to sudo get-apt it seems to be fetching from the cloud. Is there a way I can make it to read from my local Kubuntu CD? I have both Ubuntu 10.04 LTS and Kubuntu Live CDs.
I believe the local disk read should be faster to translate than to bite the bytes across thousands of miles over the wire right?
I'm trying to use Amarok with last.fm. I am a member there but I haven't played any music there yet. I've tried signing in with Amarok, and it says that I signed in successfully but when I try to see my "stations" (My Recommendations; My Radio Station) I get this error message about having to be a paying subscriber to see or play my lists. I've also tried signing in from the website and then trying it in Amarok (the website plays music just fine, btw) but that did not help. KWallet keeps popping up too saying that there is no running wallet and do I want my info saved. At first, I kept saying "no" and canceling that but after trying a few times, I allowed KWallet to save my login info as text. I still can't see any lists. Are there any dependencies that Amarok uses for this last.fm service?

I use the MP3 format because my iPod shuffle does not understand OOG.Does Amarok use Gstreamer out-of-the-box or do I have to change something somewhere so I can install Fluendo and have it picked up? I am running fedora 11 with kde version 4.4 amarok 2.2.2 and xine 2.6. I have xine-lib-extras-freeworld installed from rpm fusion. Amarok will refuse to play mp3 files, however M4A files work just fine.
I initially thought that the xine-lib-extras-nonfree was required for mp3 playback but it seems that my laptop which is f11 kde 4.3 and amarok 2.2.1 does not have this installed and works just fine.
When attempting to play an mp3 in gxine it throws this error: "No demuxer found - stream format not recognised."
I am in Amarok, and have a couple of artists loaded, but they are not playing. I am using my Last.fm account. What am I doing wrong, please?

After upgrading to KDE 4.6 (Factory repos) Amarok crashes every time I try to play a song. Changing between Gstreamer and Xine doesn't make any difference.

When I insert a CD into my CD drive the Device Notifier widget gives me 2 options "Play Audio CD with Kaffeine" and "Play Audio CD with Amarok". Kaffeine can play the CD but Amarok doesn't see the device.
Also when I attach my iPod to my computer I can view the files in Dolphin but the device isn't shown in the Content Browser of Amarok.
In Amaroks configuration menu I have the plugins for both AudioCd Collection and iPod Collection

My cd with cda files on it plays in kaffeine but it wont play in amarok
Igo to playlist at top then add media scroll to cd-rom on the lfet and pick a cda file but it wont play, what am i missing, i just went through mmcheck and added what i needed. is it suppose to play in amorok as well?
Just finished installing Kubuntu 10.04 and already got in trouble .. Amarok refuses to play any of my music ( the fun part is that it doesn't give me any messages, too .. it just skips the playlist entries, one by one till the end ).
What I'm missing here ?
I'm on Ubuntu 9.10, and I installed Amarok 2.2 when it came out. It's proven buggy and unreliable, and I want to try 2.3 now. How do I install it? I tried adding the repository using the command found here, but when I went into the update manager to try to update it, the option was grayed out.
