I am not able to play MP3 files in amarok player I am using fedora 13 and I have xmms and xine software also installed. When I try to play a MP3, I am gettting an error saying that MPEG coder not availble.

i doesnt play any sound at all. i tried the gstreamer and the xine phonon...
vlc works flawless.
banshee though also doesnt play anything.
I just made the switch back to Ubuntu from Kubuntu. Now I'm having problems running my favourite KDE app, that's Amarok.
Amarok regularly scans my collection, no problems with that. When I try and play any tracks they're not playing and Amarok scrolls through the playlist without playing anything. No error messages are displayed either (although I remember once I got some message related to phonon).
how I could get Amarok running on Ubuntu 10.10?
Since I installed Amarok 2, its context panle is not showing the context of the song any more. I am using opensuse 11.3 now but it didn't work when I used opensuse 11.2 either. refer to the figure attached.

View 2 Replies View RelatedSummary: a long-working config involving a 1st-generation Ipod Touch with v1 firmware, Ubuntu, and Amarok 1.4 stopped working when I upgraded to Lucid.
A few years ago I was given a 1st-generation Ipod Touch, running the original v1 firmware (I never upgraded to the v2 firmware because v2 wasn't jailbroken at the time). I took it to a friend's place to activate and jailbreak it with her Mac laptop (I didn't have a Mac or Windows machine to install Itunes on; have been Linux-only for many years). Once jailbroken, I was happily able to use it with Hardy, Amarok 1.4, and ipod-convenience (which supply ipod-touch-mount/ipod-touch-umount).
This continued through upgrades to Intrepid and Jaunty. I didn't care for Amarok 2 in Jaunty, so I installed Amarok 1.4 from the ppa someone else made available. I continued to use it through Jaunty and Karmic, without any problems.
Last week I upgraded to Lucid. Syncing Amarok 1.4 to the Ipod Touch no longer appears to work; the Ipod fails to recognize any music transferred onto it (standard "No Music - you can buy music at Itunes" error screen), so I presume this is a libgpod/hash error. I have the FirewireGuid properly set in the .../Device/SysInfo file, as I always have.
Every time I use the Amarok Ipod "connect" function (which runs ipod-touch-mount) it tells me no valid Itunes db was found, and asks to initialize the db. I can then transfer music to the Ipod, and successfully disconnect, but it's not recognized on the Ipod after a respring or reboot.
I've tried RhythmBox and gtkpod briefly with no luck either.

Edit: a little more info: after I let Amarok initialize the Ipod Touch and transfer a song to it, the iTunes.db that gets created on the Ipod is 0 bytes long. I presume this is the source of the problem, and indicates something is going wrong with libgpod's creation/editing of the db.
what I should do from here? I've tried removing the DB by hand, but it makes no difference - the subsequent operation to initialize the db results in the same 0-byte file.
I have just installed Fedora 12 KDE, which is kinda new for me as I have previously worked more in Ubuntu and/or Gnome.I have the MP3 codec from Fluendo and I would like to use it in Amarok to listen to my music. I use the MP3 format because my iPod shuffle does not understand OOG.Does Amarok use Gstreamer out-of-the-box or do I have to change something somewhere so I can install Fluendo and have it picked up? Or do I have to do something else (possibly dirty) to be able to play MP3s?Along the same thread, will this allow me to rip CDs to MP3 format as well?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am running fedora 11 with kde version 4.4 amarok 2.2.2 and xine 2.6. I have xine-lib-extras-freeworld installed from rpm fusion. Amarok will refuse to play mp3 files, however M4A files work just fine.
I initially thought that the xine-lib-extras-nonfree was required for mp3 playback but it seems that my laptop which is f11 kde 4.3 and amarok 2.2.1 does not have this installed and works just fine.
When attempting to play an mp3 in gxine it throws this error: "No demuxer found - stream format not recognised."
I am in Amarok, and have a couple of artists loaded, but they are not playing. I am using my Last.fm account. What am I doing wrong, please?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with Amarok. I did a yum update today (which completed ok) but now I cannot play music from Amarok. Rather, it appears as if it is playing but no sound is coming out of the speakers. Other players (xmms, mplayer, xine) are all working fine. A quick note is that on starting up, there is a message that "Phonon: KDE's multimedia library The audio playback device PulseAudio sound server does not work. falling back to." A google search shows that I may need to configure amarok to output sound using something like Alsa. Which is fine, I have alsa installed:

Ok, I stopped using Fedora after the version 9. Today for a change I installed Fedora 12. And now I am in an endless world of troubles.At first I was able to video call friends on msn. But it wasn't working. And then I found this guide and did everything it says. Now it's even worse, audio and video call buttons are greyed out?
Amarok is a critical software for me. No Amarok, no Linux. I installed the amarok's latest version through yum. But amarok can't scan my collection. It keeps giving this error "[ERROR!] Tried to query an uninitialized m_db! ".???
what the trick is to getting Amarok to stream once you install it?
View 9 Replies View RelatedAmarok 2.4.3 in fedora kde spin with kde update to 4.6.5 was loading my 120gb ipod classic as a generic usb drive instead of an ipod. This made transferring songs impossible.
To fix it: yum downgrade amarok*
Which downgrades amarok and it's dependencies, and then use --exclude=amarok* option with subsequent yum commands until problem is fixed upstream.
I upgraded my fedora 12 to F13 last night by Fedora 13 DVD. then i updated my F13 using this code:

so when i tried to use amarok it couldn't scan my collection and crashes.

I have got Fedora 13 x86_64 with KDE. I installed the Fluendo MP3 Plug-In so I could play songs in Amarok. But the first ~15 seconds of every song are really lagging, the rest of the song sounds fine. I tried to set it to an external MySQL database, but then all my music disappears.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI updated Fedora 12 a couple of weeks ago, and Amarok stopped working. The splash screen came up, and hung there until clicked on. Looking at the process, it uses 49-50% CPU (weird since it's on an Acer One netbook with an Atom N270 single core processor) and the memory footprint steadily increases. I hung on for another update to see if that fixed it, but one came through today with an update to Amarok, but it is still broken.

Running Gnome.Used yum to get Amarok on here, and it freezes almost immediately every time I try to open it. The splash shows, a program shows up on the window-manager panel labeled "KDED Glob..." and the system freezes. Mouse, keyboard, all unresponsive. I had FC12 Beta on this exact system and Amarok worked fine. Noting that KDED Glob is probably part of KDE, and that I did not install KDE, I thought maybe Amarok depends on a KDE component that the repo did not pick up as a dependency. Tried to install as much of the mainstream KDE components as I could, with no change.

This is a fresh install of Fedora 13, the kmod-nvidia drivers were just fixed I assume cause I tried to install them for a few days and they would fail. Well I guess they finally fixed the Nvidia drivers for 2.6.33.5-124.fc13.x86_64 but it has broken amarok..
I have a strange problem for internet. My clients (winxp - S2) can't get internet.Let me explain my scenerios. Fedora 10 with lan (eth0) having direct internet from dsl model, client (XP service pack 2) can use samba shares using dhcp (wlan0) installed in Fedora 10 box. client can ping my linux box.Now problem is: client (dosbox) can ping the google ip address (i.e ping 74.125.39.106) but can't use 'ping www.google.com'. That means ping with ip works for internet from my client. My linux box can. I can use internet from FC10 but can't use iexplorer from my client to have internet. I have enable ipmasquarding in Firewall and dhcpd is running on wlan0 for dynamic ip address of my clients.Can someone suggest me what kind of problem having I? What should i do to success iexplorer for internet? what possibly am i missing?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently moved into my room-mates house and her wireless was not secure as I was able to log on to it unsecured with my Fedora 12 Laptop. After Securing it with WPA all the windows computers had no problem getting back on to the now secure wireless. Using GNOME I went to SYSTEM then PREFERENCES and NETWORK CONNECTIONS and clicked on the wireless tab and configured wireless security tab and configured for WPA WPA2 Personal. No problems. But when I go to the gnome tool bar and click on the network and see our SSID it wants to use WEP 40bit and others methods but has no selection for WPA.

I've tried signing in with Amarok, and it says that I signed in successfully but when I try to see my "stations" (My Recommendations; My Radio Station) I get this error message about having to be a paying subscriber to see or play my lists. I've also tried signing in from the website and then trying it in Amarok (the website plays music just fine, btw) but that did not help. KWallet keeps popping up too saying that there is no running wallet and do I want my info saved. At first, I kept saying "no" and canceling that but after trying a few times, I allowed KWallet to save my login info as text. I still can't see any lists. Are there any dependencies that Amarok uses for this last.fm service?
