I installed Fedora 12 i386 on my system, and I am using the Gnome Desktop. I used a terminal and installed Amarok via yum install amarok and got it to install; however when I try to load the darn thing it doesn't load at all, what could be the problem and how can I fix this?

Is there anyway to export lyrics from Amarok 1.4 and import them in Amarok 2?

I've had problems with Amarok in the past (ancient Egyptian curse?), but now I'd really like to install ver 2.x.
I'm running Intrepid Ibid and just don't have the time to upgrade to Koala yet. So I've update my /etc/apt/sources.list using what's on Amarok's website and run apt-get update. Naturally, no errors. When I try to run apt-get install amarok, I just get the annoying 'amarok is already the most current version'.
I've tried installing the backport/legacy version (night something? Night train?), but it can't find amarok-nightly. (apt-cache search doesn't turn it up, either). I've installing from source but even though I have all of the required libraries, it still errors out.
As amarok 2 has lost so many useful functions in amarok 1.4,I decided to downgrade amarok to the version 1.4.10.
I tried to compile amarok 1.4.10 but met a error as follows:
I had ruby-1.9.1_p243-i486 and kdelibs3-3.5.10-i486-opt1 installed form slackware-current ,so what should I do now?
I've been trying for a couple of days to find out how to install the new release of amarok 2.4.0 in my Ubuntu 10.04. It looks like it is not supported! Is that true? I thought 10.04 was supposed to be a long term support release.Amarok 2.3.2 didn't really work for me, it was too buggy and it seems to be the only release i can install at the moment.

I type ./configure and recieve an error about kde-config not being installed, but "ln kde4-config kde-config" (or something like that) solved that problem. But now I encounter this problem after ./configure:

I already have a version of Qt installed (it's necessary for KDE, is it not?), but it's not between 3.3 and 4.0. I've read online about how if you install both the 3.3 and the version included on Slackware 13.1 of Qt there would be problems. I also read that you could find the necessary Qt files in the sources discs, but I'm not sure what files to install:

Do I have to shamefully resign my pride to Amarok 2.3 or can I install 1.4 in some way? And if you've gotten this far, thanks for reading and potentially responding.
Because i don't like amarok 2 I'm looking to install amarok 1.4.10 from source code.

I installed amarok recently on 11.4 and it was slowing things down so I un-installed it but things are still slower than they were before. I un-installed all the mysql stuff that was was downloaded and installed during the amarok installation but this hasn't really helped either.

I use the MP3 format because my iPod shuffle does not understand OOG.Does Amarok use Gstreamer out-of-the-box or do I have to change something somewhere so I can install Fluendo and have it picked up? I am running fedora 11 with kde version 4.4 amarok 2.2.2 and xine 2.6. I have xine-lib-extras-freeworld installed from rpm fusion. Amarok will refuse to play mp3 files, however M4A files work just fine.
I initially thought that the xine-lib-extras-nonfree was required for mp3 playback but it seems that my laptop which is f11 kde 4.3 and amarok 2.2.1 does not have this installed and works just fine.
When attempting to play an mp3 in gxine it throws this error: "No demuxer found - stream format not recognised."
I am in Amarok, and have a couple of artists loaded, but they are not playing. I am using my Last.fm account. What am I doing wrong, please?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with Amarok. I did a yum update today (which completed ok) but now I cannot play music from Amarok. Rather, it appears as if it is playing but no sound is coming out of the speakers. Other players (xmms, mplayer, xine) are all working fine. A quick note is that on starting up, there is a message that "Phonon: KDE's multimedia library The audio playback device PulseAudio sound server does not work. falling back to." A google search shows that I may need to configure amarok to output sound using something like Alsa. Which is fine, I have alsa installed:

Ok, I stopped using Fedora after the version 9. Today for a change I installed Fedora 12. And now I am in an endless world of troubles.At first I was able to video call friends on msn. But it wasn't working. And then I found this guide and did everything it says. Now it's even worse, audio and video call buttons are greyed out?
Amarok is a critical software for me. No Amarok, no Linux. I installed the amarok's latest version through yum. But amarok can't scan my collection. It keeps giving this error "[ERROR!] Tried to query an uninitialized m_db! ".???
Amarok 2.4.3 in fedora kde spin with kde update to 4.6.5 was loading my 120gb ipod classic as a generic usb drive instead of an ipod. This made transferring songs impossible.
To fix it: yum downgrade amarok*
Which downgrades amarok and it's dependencies, and then use --exclude=amarok* option with subsequent yum commands until problem is fixed upstream.
I upgraded my fedora 12 to F13 last night by Fedora 13 DVD. then i updated my F13 using this code:

I have got Fedora 13 x86_64 with KDE. I installed the Fluendo MP3 Plug-In so I could play songs in Amarok. But the first ~15 seconds of every song are really lagging, the rest of the song sounds fine. I tried to set it to an external MySQL database, but then all my music disappears.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI updated Fedora 12 a couple of weeks ago, and Amarok stopped working. The splash screen came up, and hung there until clicked on. Looking at the process, it uses 49-50% CPU (weird since it's on an Acer One netbook with an Atom N270 single core processor) and the memory footprint steadily increases. I hung on for another update to see if that fixed it, but one came through today with an update to Amarok, but it is still broken.
