OpenSUSE :: KDE 4.6 Amarok Crashes
Jan 29, 2011After upgrading to KDE 4.6 (Factory repos) Amarok crashes every time I try to play a song. Changing between Gstreamer and Xine doesn't make any difference.

OpenSUSE :: Amarok Opens And Crashes Immediately
Jan 8, 2011I have Suse 11.3 KDE and every time I opened an mp3 file, Amarok opened and closed immediately reporting a new bug everytime. So I followed this thread Amarok Not Launching I have uninstalled Amarok through Install/ Remove software. But I am not able to find this folder to delete, as mentioned in above post: Delete the directory ~/.kde/share/apps/amarok

OpenSUSE Hardware :: Amarok Crashes When MP3 Player Attached
Jul 24, 2011When I attach my MP3 player (a Sony S series Walkman), Amarok crashes. It is a problem with libmtp, but I don't know how to resolve it. The player can connect as mass storage or mtp (note that connection mode is not selectable on the device), but Amarok automatically claims it as mtp and promptly crashes, if I connect the player without Amarok running and mount it as mass storage then start Amarok, it still claims it as MTP, crashes and blocks the device so it is no longer accessible as anything. I would just uninstall libmtp as I have no use for it, but Amarok requires it. The options as I see them: 1) get a version of libmtp that doesn't screw up with this device 2) stop Amarok claiming mtp devices (no settings for this - anything in config file?) 3) stop linux recognising this as an mtp capable device so Amarok doesn't try to claim it.

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Loading Amarok Crashes GUI?
Nov 30, 2010I use to use amarok a lot back in the day and loved it. Saw that I could install it on ubuntu (which was a great suprise, since I though amarok was a KDE application).
Anyways, EVERY time I load amarok, I see it pop up for about 1 or 2 seconds and then my xserver (is that what it is called? the GUI portion of linux) crashes and restarts. EVERY SINGLE TIME. Open amarok, xserver crashes and restarts.

Jun 24, 2010When I try to start amarok, I get a splash screen, and then it crashes with a segmentation fault. I have tried removing the amarok rpm's, and reinstalling it, but that didn't work out. I don't get enough information from the backtrace, but I also can't figure out which packages I need to get more debugging information. I have been subscribed to development repositories, so I guess I have some unstable packages on my system, but don't know which ones. May 31, 2011I'm on Ubuntu 10.04, Amarok version 2.3.0, Using KDE 4.4.2 Whenever I start Amarok and try to play any song, amarok crashes, smetimes a few seconds of the music can be heard even if the Amarok window is no longer there. Ubuntu :: Amarok Crashes Whenever Configure Or Browse Through Local Files
Mar 7, 2010I've recently been using amarok and liked it a lot. I unchecked the show system tray in configuration, restarted amarok and then checked it again. Now amarok crashes whenever I go into configuration or browse through local files. I have tried reinstalling and deleting the directory ~/.kde/share/apps but no use.

Dec 21, 2010ecently (since upgrade to Ubuntu 10.10) being having problems with Amarok randomly crashing.There doesn't seem to be any pattern and it normally just disappears and music stops. Occasionally it comes up with the KDE crash tracker but it can't retrieve the debug information (although i do have amarok-dbg installed, not sure what else i need for that to work though)Anyway i have run it from the terminal and this is the output i got towards the end:

May 17, 2010For the last few releases, I've remained with Amarok 1.4, but now that I've deemed Amarok 2 stable enough, I've upgrade, however, the lyrics to my songs (which I put in a lot of effort in downloading), are not reflecting. Is there anyway to export lyrics from Amarok 1.4 and import them in Amarok 2?

Jul 16, 2011I'm trying to use Amarok with last.fm. I am a member there but I haven't played any music there yet. I've tried signing in with Amarok, and it says that I signed in successfully but when I try to see my "stations" (My Recommendations; My Radio Station) I get this error message about having to be a paying subscriber to see or play my lists. I've also tried signing in from the website and then trying it in Amarok (the website plays music just fine, btw) but that did not help. KWallet keeps popping up too saying that there is no running wallet and do I want my info saved. At first, I kept saying "no" and canceling that but after trying a few times, I allowed KWallet to save my login info as text. I still can't see any lists. Are there any dependencies that Amarok uses for this last.fm service?

OpenSUSE :: Amarok Can't Play CDs / What To Do?
Jun 18, 2011I'm having trouble trying to get Amarok to play CDs or play tracks from any Media Device.
When I insert a CD into my CD drive the Device Notifier widget gives me 2 options "Play Audio CD with Kaffeine" and "Play Audio CD with Amarok". Kaffeine can play the CD but Amarok doesn't see the device.
Also when I attach my iPod to my computer I can view the files in Dolphin but the device isn't shown in the Content Browser of Amarok.
In Amaroks configuration menu I have the plugins for both AudioCd Collection and iPod Collection

Feb 16, 2010I have just installed opensuse 11.2 and I am trying to get Amarok to work. I click on Coolstreams, click on my favourite station.
The toolbar tells me the music is playing (confirms the name of the song and other of its details) but there is no sound nor timer count.
Could a music playing plugin be missing ?
If so what is it?

Mar 9, 2010I am having a problem with Amarok 1.4.10 in openSUSE 11.1 that was not in 10.3. When Amarok is playing, the hard drive is in constant use. If something else, like a find, runs Amarok starts skipping. There is also a skip when ever I un-pause play. I dont see anything in Amarok config to increase or use a memory cache.

Apr 12, 2010I'm having a problem playing music in Amarok 2.3, although it worked fine in Amarok 2.0 and still works fine in Amarok 1.4 which I can still run.
Firstly, when I start Amarok 2.3, it displays an error message saying that no support for MP3 files is installed, and asks if I would like to install it now. It then says that support for MP3 has been successfully installed. But when I try to play a track, nothing happens, nothing. It doesn't even try to play it.
I have another thread here, regarding multimedia settings: Multimedia - Cannot load library /usr/lib/kde4/kcm_phonon.so - openSUSE Forums, but not sure if it is related.

I want to update the Amarok to the new version (2.3) with zypper but I cant.

Aug 7, 2010I've just installed suse 11.3 and installed the necessary mp3/ogg etc packages for Amarok. But amarok just keeps crashing when i try to play an audio cd, mp3 or radio stream. something about segmentation fault, but not enough data for a bug report. Kaffeine plays audio like a charm, but amarok seems only able to crash. I really hate any not working programs on my computer, so what can i do to solve this?
solving meaning:
1) get rid of amarok, but keep kaffeine playing every format.
2) fix amarok so it plays audio.
I am really a noob to linux and not a big fan of the terminal.

Aug 26, 2010I have been using OpenSuse KDE for about a year now and my default music player is Amarok. I think it is a good music player, but I have just one complaint about Amarok 2.3.0 that comes bundled with 11.3 --- it simply does not display the embedded album art in mp3 files.I don't know if Amarok users have faced this issue previously, but its quite surprising when VLC displays the embedded album cover but Amarok doesn't. Please have a look at the screen print below which shows VLC and Amarok playing the same song but Amarok does not show the album art...
I embed album art for my mp3's using a free software called Mp3tag through Windows. My mp3's tagged and embedded through this software display their album cover not just in Windows and VLC on Linux but also on my mobile phone.Surely something is not right with Amarok when it comes to displaying embedded album art.
