I'm trying to use Amarok with last.fm. I am a member there but I haven't played any music there yet. I've tried signing in with Amarok, and it says that I signed in successfully but when I try to see my "stations" (My Recommendations; My Radio Station) I get this error message about having to be a paying subscriber to see or play my lists. I've also tried signing in from the website and then trying it in Amarok (the website plays music just fine, btw) but that did not help. KWallet keeps popping up too saying that there is no running wallet and do I want my info saved. At first, I kept saying "no" and canceling that but after trying a few times, I allowed KWallet to save my login info as text. I still can't see any lists. Are there any dependencies that Amarok uses for this last.fm service?
For the last few releases, I've remained with Amarok 1.4, but now that I've deemed Amarok 2 stable enough, I've upgrade, however, the lyrics to my songs (which I put in a lot of effort in downloading), are not reflecting. Is there anyway to export lyrics from Amarok 1.4 and import them in Amarok 2?
After upgrading to KDE 4.6 (Factory repos) Amarok crashes every time I try to play a song. Changing between Gstreamer and Xine doesn't make any difference.
I'm having trouble trying to get Amarok to play CDs or play tracks from any Media Device.
When I insert a CD into my CD drive the Device Notifier widget gives me 2 options "Play Audio CD with Kaffeine" and "Play Audio CD with Amarok". Kaffeine can play the CD but Amarok doesn't see the device.
Also when I attach my iPod to my computer I can view the files in Dolphin but the device isn't shown in the Content Browser of Amarok.
In Amaroks configuration menu I have the plugins for both AudioCd Collection and iPod Collection
Amarok Version 2.4.1
openSUSE 11.4
uname -a Linux linux-17ba.site 2.6.37.6-0.5-desktop #1 SMP PREEMPT 2011-04-25 21:48:33 +0200 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
My cd with cda files on it plays in kaffeine but it wont play in amarok Igo to playlist at top then add media scroll to cd-rom on the lfet and pick a cda file but it wont play, what am i missing, i just went through mmcheck and added what i needed. is it suppose to play in amorok as well?
I am having a problem with Amarok 1.4.10 in openSUSE 11.1 that was not in 10.3. When Amarok is playing, the hard drive is in constant use. If something else, like a find, runs Amarok starts skipping. There is also a skip when ever I un-pause play. I dont see anything in Amarok config to increase or use a memory cache.
I'm having a problem playing music in Amarok 2.3, although it worked fine in Amarok 2.0 and still works fine in Amarok 1.4 which I can still run.
Firstly, when I start Amarok 2.3, it displays an error message saying that no support for MP3 files is installed, and asks if I would like to install it now. It then says that support for MP3 has been successfully installed. But when I try to play a track, nothing happens, nothing. It doesn't even try to play it.
I have another thread here, regarding multimedia settings: Multimedia - Cannot load library /usr/lib/kde4/kcm_phonon.so - openSUSE Forums, but not sure if it is related.
I added Index of /repositories/KDE:/Backports/openSUSE_11.2 The opensuse.org says: If you just want the latest versions of e.g. amarok, digikam etc. you don't need to upgrade all of KDE, just add the Backports repo maintained by the openSUSE KDE Team. I want to update the Amarok to the new version (2.3) with zypper but I cant.
I've just installed suse 11.3 and installed the necessary mp3/ogg etc packages for Amarok. But amarok just keeps crashing when i try to play an audio cd, mp3 or radio stream. something about segmentation fault, but not enough data for a bug report. Kaffeine plays audio like a charm, but amarok seems only able to crash. I really hate any not working programs on my computer, so what can i do to solve this?
solving meaning:
1) get rid of amarok, but keep kaffeine playing every format. 2) fix amarok so it plays audio.
I am really a noob to linux and not a big fan of the terminal.
I have been using OpenSuse KDE for about a year now and my default music player is Amarok. I think it is a good music player, but I have just one complaint about Amarok 2.3.0 that comes bundled with 11.3 --- it simply does not display the embedded album art in mp3 files.I don't know if Amarok users have faced this issue previously, but its quite surprising when VLC displays the embedded album cover but Amarok doesn't. Please have a look at the screen print below which shows VLC and Amarok playing the same song but Amarok does not show the album art...
I embed album art for my mp3's using a free software called Mp3tag through Windows. My mp3's tagged and embedded through this software display their album cover not just in Windows and VLC on Linux but also on my mobile phone.Surely something is not right with Amarok when it comes to displaying embedded album art.
I was hearing music with amarok and copied some music on my mp3 player til i got an error message that amarok crashed. I restarted amarok but it crashed after the blue amarok screen. Im quite new at linux ^^
I have a problem with amarok crashing all the time almost, at then end using 'strace amarok' from console allowed to open it. Is there a way to solve this ? (contact distribution packagers) : details provided here Amarok 2.4 is crashing at each start - KDE Community Forums
I just installed OpenSuse 11.2 on my Asus. I can't get audio out of Amarok. The audio playback device HDA SIS966 (ALC660-VD Analog) works. Does anyone have a clue of how to fix it?
how to get Amarok 1.X installed on 11.2? I updated to 11.2; and as far as I can tell it's only got A2. I am REALLY DISPLEASED with A2 and want to go back to 1.4. I couldn't 1.4 any where for downloads; as far as repos go.
I am not having any luck with the 'out-of-the-box' version of Amarok on 11.2. It is missing a lot of features (syncing with my fuze most notably). So I figured that I would go to the latest version, but the one-click install from backports (2.2.2-4.1) reported that it could not install amarok-xine and amarok-libvisual. It installed anyway, but was not stable at all. I thought that that install process was supposed to do the updates for me. I went back to the 2.1.1 version, but it still crashes pretty frequently.
Trying banshee right now. Anyway, the big question is... do I go up, down, or off for Amarok? I have a Sansa Fuze and would love to sync music with it, but Amarok is not getting the job done right now. I have read of people going back to 1.4, but after my attempt to install 2.2.2, I'm not so sure that I'm doing it right. Should what I did have worked? I'd like to find one that will get album art and transfer it to my fuze as well (folder.jpg is what seems to make it the happiest).
I'm using Amarok 1.4 and when I select the playlist=>burn to CD, k3b doesn't apear. I get the prompt that asks if I want to make an audio or data disk. Only the Audio CD works; the data disk option doesn't work.
I'm running OS 11.2x86_32, KDE 4.4.3 with the latest updates and a problem has cropped up with Amarok (version 2.3.0). When starting the app it keeps saying there is no mp3 support and do I want to install it. Tell it yes, and restart the program and it says the same thing at each start. What's strange is that mp3's play just fine. I've run the 10 steps for troubleshooting and all the codecs are fine, this appears to be an Amarok only problem. SMplayer works fine, Kaffeine and VLC too.
I have a vast amount of MP3's but I can't seem to get Amarok to play them, Amarok opens up and I can see all my music in the music folder with no problem but when I select an MP3 and select Play I get nothing. I can convert my CD collection to OGG.VORBIS but I don't want to go through that process all over again. Currently I'm using 11.2 64bit,
I'm getting no sound from amarok. I been trying different things like mp3's and internet radio, updating packages, even choosing gstreamer (xine by default) but no go.
suddenly I just could not get it to run. The coloured startup came up but nothing else. So I ran it as su from a terminal and this was the result:<unknown program name>(6552)/:KUniqueApplication: Cannot find the D-Bus session server: "Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken." <unknown program name>(6551)/: KUniqueApplication: Pipe closed unexpectedly
I'm having trouble playing some mp3's through Amarok, all other media players are fine with the mp3's in question. Tested on VLC and Audacious. Most other mp3's play through Amarok though. Why this problem. I'm using the gstreamer backend. I tried changing it to xine but then nothing would play. I really like Amarok and want to use it as my main player, so this issue is a little irritating.
I run Amarok 2.4.3 from KDR 4.7. I noticed that Last.fm is not listed among the services.Nor is the usual "Like" icon displayed in the middle pane. And Amarok doesn't scrobble. I have liblastfm0 installed and I installed liblastfm (no "0") from KDR yesterday, but that didn't help. So these should all be from the same repo (can't check right now as package kit is doing updates). Any clue what I have to do to get the service back? I use openSUSE 11.4 and KDE 4.7 from the Release repo.
I've just installed opensuse 11.2, its cool man..the problem is : i open amarok (just fine) and i add couple of song but they won't play. there is something i miss..?
