Slackware :: Contact The Maintainer But Have Yet To Receive A Reply?
May 17, 2011
I Installed Cinelerra on my 13.37 64 machine , compiled OK with all dependencies Here is the deal breaker its totally dodgy crashes on any file and is just basically unusable
Or someone give me a working slackbuild that's less flacky Now is this normal for Cinelerra or is this Slackware related or is the build just old Tried to contact the slackbuild maintainer but have yet to receive a reply
Since upgrading to 11.04 yesterday, nauilus has been acting strangely. It takes about 30 seconds for a right click on the desktop to respond, whereas before it would've taken 1 or 2. Also, when trying to open a directory, say, the Home direcotry accessible from the launcher,it takes about a minute to open, which is odd, because all of my other applications (Chrome, Banshee etc) ares all running smoothly. And when the direcotry windowe does open, within 10 sconds it will turn grey and prompt me to force quit. When i try to open nautilus from a terminal, it comes back with the message
Code:
(nautilus:3508): Unique-DBus-WARNING **: Error while sending message: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken.
I recently updated my iPod touch to the 4.2.1 firmware. So I get the usual
DBus error org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply: Message did not receive a reply (timeout by message bus) Error. Yes I've tried the old "sudo apt-get update;sudo apt-get dist-upgrade"
but that was to no avail. way to fix this? Now click 'back'.
Im trying to instal Sun Virtualbox but when download completes and I click on install I get the following error>>Message did not receive a reply (timeout by message bus) I wont even bother with this software if there are others out there that are as easy to use. I used it on Windows and thought it was great ! (thats how I eventually switched to Linux, by using it virtually at first)
when I connect my iphone (3GS, 4.3.3) to Fedora 15 it gives me this error: Unable to mount iphone DBus error org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply: Message did not receive a reply (timeout by message bus). The weird thing: after looking in var/log/messages it appears that it is trying to be used by NetworkManager. And when I lookin NM, i can see iPhone as an ethernet device (cable unplugged).
I'm not sure what when wrong since I have a few DVDs and they all play well in my normal DVD player, I later attempt to mount it in my Ubuntu 8.10 I'm presented with the following message:
DBus error org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken.
May I know what does this really mean?Is there something in my computer that require a fix?
I am new in linux,I installed apache-tomcat on fedora.I can view all web pages on localhost:8080 but when I try to view them by server's url address from another computer, I don't get respond. Can it be a firewall problem or something else?
In my continuing quest to live without X most of the time, I am trying to set up fetchmail and Mutt to get and send mail. I only want to be able to send and receive text based mail, and so far I am running into trouble with what I think should be pretty simple. For receiving my mail, I believe I only need to create a .fetchmailrc file in my home directory with the entry:
Code: poll [URL] protocol pop3 username "myusername" password "mypassword" But I get: 2 messages for myusername at mail.myISP.com (7965 octets). fetchmail: connection to localhost:smtp [127.0.0.1/25] failed: Connection refused. fetchmail: SMTP connect to localhost failed fetchmail: SMTP transaction error while fetching from wetumpka@mail.btopenworld.com and delivering to SMTP host localhost reading message myusername@pop-smtp.ISP.mail.fy5.b.yahoo.com:1 of 2 (2734 octets)fetchmail: Query status=10 (SMTP)
It appears to me that it is finding mail but does not know where to deliver it and is refused a connection to my machine. Also, I cannot figure out how to set up my SMTP for my ISP in Mutt to send mail. Can someone point me to a simple tutuorial on how to do these things. I really only want to do what you would with Thunderbird, but from the command line.
Added the following line to sources.list: deb [URL] squeeze main non-free After that I did an update and upgrade. The following packages were kept back : ffmpeg libavcodec52 libavdevice52 libavformat52 libcairo2 libpostproc51 libswscale0 mplayer ( libcairo2 is on hold ).
To overcome this I did: apt-get install mplayer The following extra packages will be installed: liba52-0.7.4 libartsc0 libbs2b0 libdirac-decoder0 libfaac0 libggi2 libggiwmh0 libgii1 libmp3lame0 libopencore-amrnb0 libopencore-amrwb0 libvdpau1 libx264-104 libxvidcore4 It ends like: Unpacking replacement mplayer ...

I'm able to configure my Wireless network to connect with an AP with WEP key but...
Now I'm at home, I've a WPA2 key (my router now is supporting both, WPA and WPA2). I used WICD to connect but no success at all! It just stops with "Connection failed: Could not contact the wireless access point"
if I type IWLIST key:
Code: ra0 2 key sizes: 40, 104bits 4 keys available [1]: off [2]: off [3]: off [4]: off code....
I chose the local version of grub when prompted on the last update. However, after doing a bit of reading, it looks like I should have selected the "package maintainer's version" .
I've looked at the release notes [URL] related to grub and changing the menu.lst. However, when I open the menu.lst per the instructions, it is blank (the file opens but there is no text in it). I also ran the sudo update-grub command but was never prompted to choose a the local version or maintainer's version.
Is there a way to go back and get back to the prompt to select the ""package maintainer's version"?
I have install ubuntu 9.04 on my machine. When I am trying to ping google.com, I do not get ping reply but I am able to browse Internet. Also, I am able to ping any of the local machine on LAN.
First of all I'd like to let you know that I'm not very experienced with Linux, and I am using Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTSI'm also not really sure if this is the proper section in which I should post.I'm running a Minecraft server, and I'm trying to make a PHP script grab the reply from a screen. Is there any way to do this?Is there any way to grab the names "name1", "name2" and "name3"?The amount of names can go up to 35 on my server
I posted a topic in another section and tried to reply. The message pane opens and the cursor is there, but when I start typing the cursor stays put and nothing shows up.What to do? I am doing this reply from Windows right now.
I've noticed that after the initial startup and updates, if I shut down ubuntu I cannot get back on. The loader just gets stuck at the "Logo screen".When run in recovery mode I recieve the following errors (a few in duplicate):"mount all main process (556) terminated with status 2"."mount all-shell (559) terminated with status 2"."could not get password database information for UID of current process: user '???' unknown or no memory to allocate password entry".After this I'm left without even a command line and nothing I type does anything.I've never had problems with ubuntu in the past after using it for about 6 months but this is the first time I've tried running it alongside windows 7, could that be the cause?
my command is the following:cp -LRuvp --reply=yes /mnt/filename /mnt/usbdrive/filename 2>/mnt/usbdrive/ error.log.i get "the reply option is deprecated try using i or f instead" the problem with the above is the only thing i get in my error log is: "the reply option is deprecated try using i or f instead" and if i use "i , f , /cp , etc..." nothing is generated in my log..what i want to do is copy file from source with "LRuvp" to destination and appened out put to "error.log"
I am running Debian Squeeze with XFCE. I have installed gdebi, but when I try to run it as gdebi-gtk it gets to the point of password entry, lets me do this then closes before installing the package. It worked fine for the first few, and it works as gdebi from the command line, so I can only guess that it is linked to something with gtk graphical front end. I tried removing using apt-get remove and reinstalling as well as purging the cache and checking for broken dependencies.
This is the output when I run gdebi-gtk from terminal (gdebi-gtk:3582): GVFS-RemoteVolumeMonitor-WARNING **: cannot connect to the session bus: org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply:

Very recently I started using Evolution as my mail client. Before that I was using MS Outlook. Everything seems to be OK with Evolution but I find 2 startling limitations.
1. How to set up out of office auto reply 2. What is the equivalent of mail archive.
I tried to google it and looks like many people have the same issue but no proper solution. Is this really a limitation with Evolution?
I've just found that one of my email addresses with an auto-reply gets stuck in a loop when it receives email from senders who also have an auto-reply set up.Is there an easy way for me to set Postfix so that it only sends one auto-reply email or so that it only sends a maximum of 1 auto-reply message per day to the sender?
i have a mail server that uses Postfix as a mail server, it runs ok, but i need to add some features to a specific users only.what i need to add is Auto-reply message for some users only.
I was using my ISP's DNS server. When I would ping something that doesn't exist, e.g. blahtest.com, it would reply anyway. When I tried to go to the site in a browser, it was some page like "I hope we can help you find what you're looking for". I thought that was ridiculous, so I changed to OpenDNS's DNS server.
I have configured DNS on ubuntu server 8.10 and it is working fine. There is one question I have though. Everytime I ping a LAN device by name I get the reply from the server with only the IP Address.
Sam and I are going to the fair on sunday around 2 if anyone wants to join us. Lets get some deep fried butter. As you can see the first message is cut off in the last message, it just says Sam... no plus sign or anything for me to be able to view the whole message including everything that was said throughout multiple emails. This happens to every single one of my emails, if someone replied again to this the original message just would no longer be on the email at all and I'd have to search it out in previous emails which is a pain.
I got a mission to move our company's ns3 from one machine to another.I've installed the djbdns software on other machine, configured it(or at least I think soand if I make a "nslookup www.google.com 195.222.14.7" query from that paticular server then I get an answer straight away, but if i make the same query from local machine i get connection timed out
I am trying to write little quiz to give different answer when given yes or no reply, however I got stuck with this. I am very very new to Python so please have patience. Can someone give me a sugesstions?
This is my code so far: name = raw_input(" What is your name") print " Hello, " + name + "."
When I try to start korganizer from a konsole, I get the following error reply and kontact crashes
<unknown program name>(24450)/: KUniqueApplication: Cannot find the D-Bus session server: "Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken." <unknown program name>(24445)/: KUniqueApplication: Pipe closed unexpectedly.
In my newbie mind - there is something wrong with d-bus or similar. I can however start kmail and KAddressBook without problems. The crash of kontact/korganizer first showed up under my (up-to-date) Squeeze system. I then upgraded to "testing" but the situation is the same. I have filed Bug 274661 with the KDE bug tracking system. So far - no answer........
