Since upgrading to 11.04 yesterday, nauilus has been acting strangely. It takes about 30 seconds for a right click on the desktop to respond, whereas before it would've taken 1 or 2. Also, when trying to open a directory, say, the Home direcotry accessible from the launcher,it takes about a minute to open, which is odd,because all of my other applications (Chrome, Banshee etc) ares all running smoothly. And when the direcotry windowe does open, within 10 sconds it will turn grey and prompt me to force quit. When i try to open nautilus from a terminal, it comes back with the message

I recently updated my iPod touch to the 4.2.1 firmware. So I get the usual

I only want to be able to send and receive text based mail, and so far I am running into trouble with what I think should be pretty simple. For receiving my mail, I believe I only need to create a .fetchmailrc file in my home directory with the entry:

It appears to me that it is finding mail but does not know where to deliver it and is refused a connection to my machine. Also, I cannot figure out how to set up my SMTP for my ISP in Mutt to send mail. Can someone point me to a simple tutuorial on how to do these things. I really only want to do what you would with Thunderbird, but from the command line.

I'm able to configure my Wireless network to connect with an AP with WEP key but...
Now I'm at home, I've a WPA2 key (my router now is supporting both, WPA and WPA2). I used WICD to connect but no success at all! It just stops with "Connection failed: Could not contact the wireless access point"

I chose the local version of grub when prompted on the last update. However, after doing a bit of reading, it looks like I should have selected the "package maintainer's version" .
I've looked at the release notes [URL] related to grub and changing the menu.lst. However, when I open the menu.lst per the instructions, it is blank (the file opens but there is no text in it). I also ran the sudo update-grub command but was never prompted to choose a the local version or maintainer's version.
Is there a way to go back and get back to the prompt to select the ""package maintainer's version"?
I have install ubuntu 9.04 on my machine. When I am trying to ping google.com, I do not get ping reply but I am able to browse Internet. Also, I am able to ping any of the local machine on LAN.

I have installed gdebi, but when I try to run it as gdebi-gtk it gets to the point of password entry, lets me do this then closes before installing the package. It worked fine for the first few, and it works as gdebi from the command line, so I can only guess that it is linked to something with gtk graphical front end. I tried removing using apt-get remove and reinstalling as well as purging the cache and checking for broken dependencies.

In my newbie mind - there is something wrong with d-bus or similar. I can however start kmail and KAddressBook without problems. The crash of kontact/korganizer first showed up under my (up-to-date) Squeeze system. I then upgraded to "testing" but the situation is the same. I have filed Bug 274661 with the KDE bug tracking system. So far - no answer........
