Server :: Installing Lighttpd From Svn Unable To Start Script?

I have followed all the steps as mentioned on documentation.except automake (I am not clear as where to make automake)
I logged in as Root on a Ubuntu system
and then
Code:
cd /opt
svn checkout svn://svn.lighttpd.net/lighttpd/branches/lighttpd-1.4.x/
cd lighttpd-1.4.x
./autogen.sh
./configure
make
make install
After this what do I need to do to be able to start the lighttpd ?After this I did not found any script /etc/init.d/lighttpd. so what more has to be done ?

Fresh install, followed the directions,
# ./configure --with-mysql --with-openssl --with-openssl-libs=/usr/lib (MySQL 5.5.12 & OpenSSL 1.0.0)
Everything seemed to go well enough. Stock lighttpd.conf. However, it won't start on boot. Not even manually via:
# /etc/init.d/lighttpd start
or
# /etc/init.d/lighttpd -f /etc/lighttpd/lighttpd.conf (came across that while scouring Google).
No messages, no logs, nothing. ?

what the procedure is to file bugs against slackware so I will post here. The rc.lighttpd I have works but the function to check if lighttpd is running has an exception when there's no lighttpd.

i was using win xp sp2. i just installed red hat linux by making one of the windows drive as unpartitioned space . i kept windows as my default os .my linux is working properly , but when i goes to start windows , it shows error " windows unable to start , hal.dll file is missing or corrupt".so to solve this problem , i decided to repair windows , but when i isert win xp bootable cd , cd starts booting , after showing messege " setup is inspecting your hard ware " , black screen appears , nd nothing happens after that.what should i do ? i want keep linux as it is and also want to start my windows again . tell me how to repair windows . what should i do to boot win xp bootable cd properly.

I got a xend start problem when I install xen 4.0.1 on ubuntu 10.04 64_bit my installation steps are as follows:

I created some html pages in /var/lighttpd/ in a directory called jp (which I had made).

I was not able to see the webpages [url] but I was able to see [url] so why I could not browse the directory jp
I am getting a 404 not found error. Where as the page exists.

I'm trying to configure lighttpd to send SCGI requests to different ports, depending on what file(s) are accessed. Is this possible? This is what I've tried, and it hasn't worked.

So, i need to have only last 6 months logs in the file and the rest to be cleared.

I ran across the above article, which described a DoS attack in which requests are sent very slowly to the Web server. I'm running lighttpd 1.4.28 on a Gentoo Linux server, and I'm wondering if there is anything I could do in preparation to defend against such an attack.
A bug report [url] seems to indicate that there was a patch in place already against this sort of attack, but I wanted to be sure that was the same thing and if there was anything else I needed to do.

I've got this problem for a few weeks and I cannot figure out. I'm pulling my hair out. I have a server installed PHP, lighttpd and redis. I know that you can access and run any script of the web by wget:

But this is literally accessing it externally through the web, i think that it is safer and faster to access the script internally. I am using lighttpd to host my php pages, and is there a way to do that? I have had some hosting experiences, the cronjobs on the hosts let u input:

I'm using Ubuntu 10.04 LTS - the Lucid Lynx.
I have reinstalled mysql-server-5.1 using the command "sudo apt-get --reinstall install mysql-server-5.1".
But its giving error message at the end of installation when its trying to start the server.
The error message is as follows.
When i tried to start the server after the installation, i get this error message
Note : The file "/etc/mysql/my.cnf" is empty.

I was able to start multiple X servers before. Now after the upgrade to rootless X, I had to add myself to the "input" group to be able to start X, but I'm unable to start 2nd X on a different vt.

I am very new (since yesterday) to Linux also new to web server setup. I have installed all LAMP components, including SSL as described here: [URL]. I have added LISTEN 443 Wanted to restart the apache server -> no success ! stopped it, now doesn't start at all:

I tested Apache and my PHP earlier and it worked. Now after SSL and FTP installation it doesn't work anymore! Also I am wondering about my server name, it is the set IP of the web server, surly i should change that? Only used link for SSL set-up, used diff links for apache php etc (also have java JRE installed as I will need that later for my app) also have GNOME available, but prefer command line.

I did a fresh install (the installer erased 10.04 and installed 11.04) of Natty. Now as soon as I boot into Ubuntu I get the error "There is a problem with the configuration server....exited with status 256" This comes up before the log in screen, and once I type in my password, after as well.Also, I'm getting the error The configuration defaults for GNOME Power Manager have not been installed correctly.contact your computer administrator.
I cannot log in. I just get sent back to the log in screen.I have searched and searched for a solution to both of these errors, and it seems that no one can find a solution to the configuration server error.

I had installed apache previously on my system, and I think I uninstalled it completely, although remnants might have remained. I have just installed zend server ce php 5.3, and I am having trouble getting it to work. When I log in to the admin interface, it told me it couldn't start the webserver, so I go to restart apache, and it gives me this:* Starting web server apache2 Syntax error on line 6 of /etc/apache2/sitesenabled/zendserver_gui.conf:Invalid command 'php_admin_flag', perhaps misspelled or defined by a module not included in the server configurationThis has to do with php_mod some how... but I am not sure how to fix this, or where to start, since I am relatively new to actually setting up apache.I thought this might have something to do with libapache2-mod-php... so I went to reinstall it, and ran this:

I was trying to install a couple of the sun packages to have and after the install I get the follow error. Xsession: unable to start X session--- no "/home/username/.xsession" file, no "/home/username/.xsession" file, no session managers, no window managers, and no terminal emulators found; aborting.
