Feb 11, 2011I'm trying to set up my postfix server to relay mail (via a php cms) using Gmail's smtp on my account, but for some reason, Gmail returns an error code that StartTLS must be sent first, my postfix main.cnf file can be found at pastebin, because of this forum's text length I cannot paste my postfix main.cnf file as can be seen I have everything set and configured for Gmail, but postfix (for some unseen reason) can not send StartTLS. Mar 4, 2011I'm trying to configure postfix so smart daemon can send out notifications emails. My system will need to send emails to a mail server that is on the same local network. I have not had much luck in getting this to work, and am confused on what I need to setup to do this and how to set it up. Does my system need to be apart of the same domain as the mail server? If so, how do I do this? Is there any restrictions sending emails from the command line as the root user? Do I need to configure a relayhost?
Basically all I need to do is send emails to a local mail server, i.e. a mail server on the same local network. I do not need to receive emails. I am rather clueless as to how to set this all up, and what I need for this basic email functionality. I have read and tried many postfix configuration tutorials, but when I try to send out a test email to a email address on the local network mail server I always get "Connection refused" to the server and deferred or bounced status on my test email.

Nov 3, 2010I have one Centos Server and I want to forward root mail to 1 external account: [URL] I installed sendmail and created /root/.forward with this content: [URL] and I sent a test mail with this command: /usr/sbin/sendmail root <prueba.txt But nothing was forwarded.
After that I ran the same command with the verbose option:
/usr/sbin/sendmail -v root <prueba.txt
And this is the output:

For some reason sendmail tried to connect to example.com smtp server and couldn't reach it. I am sure this is because the smtp server for example.com domain is not example.com is mail.example.com. Besides mail.example.com requires authentication, username , password and the smtp port is not the default 25 is 9999. configure sendmail to forward root mail to a smtp server that requires authentication, username, password with a not the default 25 port?
Debian :: Forward All Root Mail To External E-mail Account?
Jun 28, 2010The question is pretty much the same as the subject. I have a bunch of debian servers - most of them running exim4 default installations configured as internet site using dpkg-reconfigure exim4-config. It can send mails fine from php scripts and some other applications, but I can't seem to find a way to forward all root mail to some external address. I have tried adding "root: someaddress@example.com" to /etc/aliases and run newaliases command, but it doesn't seem to work.

Jun 16, 2011I have been using evolution for my email for about a year.It currently has 2 accounts set up.I want to create a third account so I went to Edit > Preferences > Accounts > Add.On the first page I click on "forward" and on the second page enter the new details. New name, new email address and when I'm finished I click on forward again and the second screen comes up. It has some server details on it iirc. Sadly after 2 seconds or so this screen disappears and the very first screen re-appears (where the only thing to click on is "forward").What's happening? Is 2 accounts the maximum? Any clues please?

For example - if I am using kmail for the account me@email.net and I have something from an irc chat or IM I need to keep for future reference (instructions for something, contact info for someone, etc.) I open a new blank email in kmail, address it to myself, copy in the info and hit send, but the message never arrives. I have previously used this method with Thunderbird and Evolution and it works in both of them just fine but does not ever work in kmail.

How could I forward all the messages from Evolution to a mail account so I can access them over the Internet?
Forwarding all of them as attachment doesn't, because many of the emails themselves have attachment and it gives an error saying attachment type not supported.
If I try forwarding inline or quoted I have to forward them one by one and there are around 4000.

The work account is set as default. It is uppermost in the left pane. It is marked 'MH', which I think is to do with storage of the downloaded emails. Claws-Mail always polls my 'other' account first. This takes ages and prevents me getting my work email. How can I make sure the work account is polled first?

I entered in my name, username, and password, and pop3.live.com for the incoming mail (pop3 server), and smtp.live.com for the outgoing mail (smtp server), but whenever I attempt to get mail for my windows live email account the connection fails.
