Red Hat / Fedora :: Broadcom - Wireless - Unable To Untar The File

Oct 25, 2010

i'm having some difficulties will my wireless on my friends hp dv4. It has a bcm4312 card and so far i've downloaded the kernel headers and the devel pakages, aswell as the broadcom hybrid driver. After i've un tar'd the file i type in make and it come up with

KBUILD_NOPEDANTIC=1 make -C /lib/modules/`uname -r`/build M=`pwd`
make: *** /lib/modules/2.6.34.7-61.fc13.i686.PAE/build: No such file or directory. Stop.
make: *** [all] Error 2

but as for my knowledge of linux i'm at my limit, if it wasn't for Archive Manager i probably wouldn't have been able to untar the file

Ubuntu Networking :: Unable To Activate Broadcom STA Wireless Driver?

Feb 4, 2010

I am using Linux Mint 8 Helena x64 Edition on Dell Studio 15 laptop which has Dell 1520 Wireless-N Mini Card. It does work when I boot from Live CD of Helena, connect to a wired network and download & install the proprietary drivers when prompted. But on the installed system, I am unable to activate the Broadcom STA driver. I tried completely removing and then reinstalling bcmwl-kernel-source and dkms packages from package manager. When I go to Administration -> Hardware Drivers and click on Activate for Broadcom driver, at first there used to be a window which said Downloading and it used to go away after few seconds and nothing used to happen. Then I installed few updates. At the time of writing, I have installed all the available updates. Now after clicking on Activate, I get this error :

Code:
Sorry, installation of this driver failed.
Please have a look at the log file for detains: /var/log/jockey.log

General :: Unable To Connect To Wireless Network - Broadcom BCM4311

Aug 28, 2010

I was told by an experienced Linux user/IT professional that older Broadcom wireless cards had embedded code preventing access through non-Windows OS's. I was told that there were drivers that were basically "hacks" for skirting this issue. I've tried two different drivers and neither seems to be doing the trick. My current driver is the "Broadcom STA wireless driver".

Symptoms

Recognizes my network and others
Says it's connected
Won't load any web pages
Frequently asks for authentication
I've authenticated using my network password and my router's security key

Here's what the terminal says about my wireless card:

05:00.0 Network controller [0280]: Broadcom Corporation BCM4311 802.11b/g WLAN [14e4:4311] (rev 01)
Subsystem: AMBIT Microsystem Corp. Device [1468:0422]
Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 19
Memory at d0000000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=16K]
Capabilities: <access denied>
Kernel driver in use: wl
Kernel modules: wl, ssb

Ubuntu Networking :: Unable To Install Wireless Driver For Broadcom 802.11b/g WLAN

Aug 2, 2010

I have Ubuntu 10.04 installed and can browse the internet via cable, but wireless isnt working. My wireless driver is "Broadcom 802.11b/g WLAN".

In the windows device manager, I found the corresponding inf file to be oem20.inf which I tried to install it through "Setup Windows Driver" but it gave an error saying invalid driver. I also tried installing the Broadcom STA driver, but that didnot help.

I am dual booting with Windows 7, and i installed ubuntu through the windows wubi installer. My laptop is HP Pavilion dv4. I have installed the regular Ubuntu desktop and have made all upgrades. The results from lspci command i have added below.

gowda@ubuntu:~$ lspci
00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation Mobile 4 Series Chipset Memory Controller Hub (rev 07)
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 07)

Fedora Networking :: Unstable Wireless Connection With Broadcom Onboard Wireless?

Dec 21, 2010

I am running FC13 on a Compaq Presario 2100 using a Broadcom BCM4306. I was able to get it running thanks to Fedora Unity Project. But It's a very unstable connection. I don't know what settings to adjust or enable or disable. It's not my router, this is the only wireless connection in the house that I have trouble with.

Ubuntu Installation :: Broadcom Wireless LAN Driver - ISO File

Jun 19, 2010

installing the Broadcom Wireless LAN driver. I am working from an HP Pavillion dv6-2 2150us (if that has any relevance). The problem seems to be with the installation method I have used. I burned the ISO file properly onto a CD, but I did not install through the disk boot-up method. The reason for this is because I couldn't partition my HDD correctly (I am trying to dual boot with the Windows 7 OS already installed). So, I installed Ubuntu via the option from the CD Installer through Windows 7. I am not sure how to go about getting and installing the Broadcom Wireless LAN driver onto Ubuntu.

I am drowning in Broadcom over here. Fedora 15 with Broadcom 4313 wireless inop. I believe that I have made every attempt to get this Broadcom 4313 off and flying that is posted on this, and many other, forums. I had the wireless working on this laptop yesterday when I made an error with a NVIDIA driver that caused me to be unable to boot. I updated/reinstalled the kernel and the fun began. Here is where things are at. note the broadcom version fc13? No idea why that would be 13.

Fedora :: Broadcom WLAN Wireless Driver Fedora Core 11

Aug 26, 2009

Okay I posted about this a while ago, and i got my wired network to work, but now i need my wireless card driver to work. I have been doing research and I found something called ndiswrapper which drivers from windows working in linux. I typed in lspci in the terminal and it gave me my specs of my wireless card which is a:
-Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4306 802.11b/g Wireless LAN Controller (rev 03)

-Some people said there is no original driver for this card, so you need to use ndiswrapper, I was wondering does anybody know what this is, how do i use this, and help me out to get my wireless card going. If you give me instructions, please be really specific as I am really new and still getting the hang of commands.

Fedora Networking :: Install Broadcom Wireless Card On 11?

Sep 1, 2009

I chose to change my operating system from Microsoft Xp to Linux and finally chose Fedora to be my new OS.

After Fedora installation I got a problem that I cannot connect to my wireless network I used to using Xp, I think that my wireless card is not installed on Fedora because when I checked in the network configuration I found that the only installed adapter is the Ethernet Realtek for the wired connection.

My OS is Fedora 11.

The CPU Model name is : Intel (R) Core (TM) 2 Duo CPU T8300 @2.40 GHz, so I think that my architecture is x86_64.

My Network controller is : Broadcom Corporation BCM4312 802.11b/g

Fedora Hardware :: FC14 With Two Broadcom Wireless Cards

Apr 19, 2011

My laptop has these Broadcom chipsets (from lspci):
Code:
00:09.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4306 802.11b/g Wireless LAN Controller (rev 02)
02:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4321 802.11a/b/g/n (rev 01)

The 4321 is working fine with wl, but I can't figure out how to get the 4306 working. As I understand, I can't use wl for that one. I once had it working (in FC10 or so) with b43legacy, which is now blacklisted for wl. Unblacklisting it alone doesn't make the other card work. Is there some other configuration I need to do?

sometime back when installing FC10, i tried installing ndis wrapper, and later i installed the broadcom driver bcm431 (i think). also i didn't remove the ndis wrapper.

all was fine untill a yesterday when ndis wrapper and some related packages got updated which somehow caused wireless to stop working. lspci showed the hardware present.

to get it to work, i did a yum erase ndis-wrapper, followed by a reboot.

it may not be the most elegent way, but it worked for me.

hardware specs:acer aspire 4720Z (mine has broadcom wireless, others may have atheros)

I also tested wl_apsta driver using fw-cutter. I did not work neither.
