Fedora :: Broadcom WLAN Wireless Driver Fedora Core 11
Aug 26, 2009
Okay I posted about this a while ago, and i got my wired network to work, but now i need my wireless card driver to work. I have been doing research and I found something called ndiswrapper which drivers from windows working in linux. I typed in lspci in the terminal and it gave me my specs of my wireless card which is a:
-Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4306 802.11b/g Wireless LAN Controller (rev 03)
-Some people said there is no original driver for this card, so you need to use ndiswrapper, I was wondering does anybody know what this is, how do i use this, and help me out to get my wireless card going. If you give me instructions, please be really specific as I am really new and still getting the hang of commands.

I have Ubuntu 10.04 installed and can browse the internet via cable, but wireless isnt working. My wireless driver is "Broadcom 802.11b/g WLAN".
In the windows device manager, I found the corresponding inf file to be oem20.inf which I tried to install it through "Setup Windows Driver" but it gave an error saying invalid driver. I also tried installing the Broadcom STA driver, but that didnot help.
I am dual booting with Windows 7, and i installed ubuntu through the windows wubi installer. My laptop is HP Pavilion dv4. I have installed the regular Ubuntu desktop and have made all upgrades. The results from lspci command i have added below.
gowda@ubuntu:~$ lspci
00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation Mobile 4 Series Chipset Memory Controller Hub (rev 07)
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 07)

How to use the BRCM driver for this following wireless cards?
BCM4313
BCM43224
BCM43225
Seems the since the 2.6.37 kernels it would be included. And wouldn't be necessary to use Broadcom STA linux driver anymore.

I have an HP Pavilion notebook with a Broadcom WLANcard that had been working very nicely in Fedora Core 10 until this evening, when I took my notebook to a conference room where there was no internet access. (I tried to connect to wireless networks, but there were none in the area, as I discovered.) am now unable to connect to my local (home) wireless network as the device is now non-existent . Can someone please walk me through the steps to fix this or re-install it (I have tried reinstalling broadcom-wl, but that didn't help). My lspci listing is reproduced below:
Code:
00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/PM/GMS, 943/940GML and 945GT Express Memory Controller Hub (rev 03)

I patched my wireless driver in order to support packet injection. Using this tutorial:
- Install the Firmware:
Code:
- Create new directory:
Code:
- Now disconnect Internet and unload all your driver (use rmmod command)
- Move/copy the Compat-Wireless patched in /usr/src/drivers directory and unpack the drivers:
Code:
Blacklist the wl driver: (STA driver)
Code:
Currently I'm running Ubuntu 10.10, Kernel 2.5.35-29-generic. I have a Broadcom 4318 for my WLAN and a Broadcom 4401-B0 for my ethernet. I followed the tutorial and I managed to get packet injection working on my WLAN; however, my ethernet connection isn't working. I tried sudo modeprobe b44, but I get the following message:
FATAL: Error inserting b44 (/lib/modules/2.6.35-29-generic/kernel/drivers/net/b44.ko): Invalid argument

My laptop is the one mentioned in the title. And it's completely offline at the moment.
Code:
$iwconfig
lo no wireless extensions.
Seem to have some troublesome chips.
Code:
$ lspci
03:00.0 Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications AR8151 v1.0 Gigabit Ethernet (rev c0)
05:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM43225 802.11b/g/n (rev 01)
code....
although in my case they should be for the 2.6.33.3-85.fc13.x86_64 kernel.
And I've been searching that repo for ages now, and I can't seem to find anything with kmod-wl or broadcom in there. I'm well aware that this is most likely because of my own ignorance as to the build up of said repo.

I try to configurate a POS-System (Point of Sale - i hope pay desk is the right english word for it). The System is a BattleNetX and a Touch-Display (BA73-A) from the concern named Wincore Nixdorf (Germany). Currently, I try to install the driver for the Touchpanel on Fedora Core (12 I hope, but it can [edit: i mean can not] be important because the driver is older than FC12 ). Because, I am not the Linux adept, I work contiguous on the manual[1]. Now, I have a problem by a step. I must compile a adjust driver for the Kernel. But 'make' give me everytime a error. Here you see:

I am running FC13 on a Compaq Presario 2100 using a Broadcom BCM4306. I was able to get it running thanks to Fedora Unity Project. But It's a very unstable connection. I don't know what settings to adjust or enable or disable. It's not my router, this is the only wireless connection in the house that I have trouble with.

Preamble: Just installed fedora 7 on old sony viaio and this is the first linux distro I have ever found useful, as no time for steep learning curve though patient enough. What PCI wireless card should or could I buy that might be detected, if any? Or will I have to do much hacking and tinkering? If so, so be it!

I decided to use the STA wireless driver in my Ubuntu 10.04, and my connection actually became faster! Only problem is that it keeps on asking for my wifi password. I didn't have this kind of problem when I was using the b43 wireless driver - it just automatically connects everytime I reboot. how I can make my laptop stop asking for my password everytime I reboot?

I have this PC that came with W7 installed..i am removing it to install Debian Squeeze.I already have burned the 8 DVDs plus the Squeeze Kde CD.AFAIK, BCM 4312 is a proprietary driver, not shipped with Squeeze, but present as source in Unstable..I have already downloaded the files also... will the built *.deb be enough to enable my wireless, or to i still have to do it by hand. remove confilicting modules, build the module, insert it, put it in the corresponding filder. does the deb install do all that, or do i still have to do it, "the good 'ol way"?
