Jul 21, 2010I have an HP Pavilion Dv6-1230US laptop that I bought from staples when it was on sale for 800 dollars with a 4 year accidental damage warranty. It came with Vista Home Premium 64Bit installed. It had Windows 7 Business 64Bit on it at one point, And the latest windows installation was Windows Vista Business 32Bit. My trial period ran out on vista and I switched to Ubuntu 10.04 32Bit, and, as always, I have a problem with the wireless card. I have looked it up and everything, i do have the drivers installed, and it looks functional, but its not. It will act like its going to connect to my AP (Netgear WNR3500L that is like 2 days old), but it eventually askes me for my WPA2-Personal AES key, which I have supplied, and is correct before hand, i type the exact same thing in and it still doesn't work.
I've tried sudo apt-get update, and sudo apt-get upgrade, but it doesn't work. nothing has to update. This installation was installed today, and updated about 6 hours ago to the fullest extent.The wired works absolutely perfect (that's how i updated it). Hardware:Laptop has a Broadcom 4322AG b/g/draft-n wireless card from HP integrated into the laptop. The router is a Netgear WNR3500L which i bought because we are switching ISP's soon and our old router is a modem, that will only work on a DSL connection.

Jan 13, 2010I was running 9.10 in LiveCD mode and was unable to get online. Went to System>Administration>Hardware Drives and found "Broadcom STA wireless driver". Cool. So I went ahead and installed 9.10 (dual boot with Vista), repeated above steps but found no "Broadcom STA wireless driver" option, in fact no proprietary drivers. So I still cannot connect to the Internet, and I don't know where to go from here. (Note: I installed 9.10 side by side with Vista: good? bad?)

Jan 18, 2011I have a HP Mini 5105 SSD netbook, runing Ubuntu 10.10 with 2Gb RAM. My wireless card is a Broadcom BCM43224 802.11a/b/g/n. Its driver is enabled and running. The wired network connection runs fine too. The problem: Wireless stopped working. When I right click on the network icon, the enable network option is clicked, but the "enable wireless" option is listed in dark grey and cannot be clicked on. I have recently updated my kernel version to 2.6.35-24-generic. What I have already tried: this one too I got to know there seems to be a problem with the 2.6.35-24-generic kernel. I have gone into the GRUB menu (it took some time to find out that you have to keep the Shift key pressed during startup for the GRUB menu to show), chosen the older kernel version (2.6.35-23-generic) and then removed the faulty one. Nevertheless, nothing has changed. I still cannot enable the wireless. The outcome to lshw -C network is:

Jan 1, 2010Ever since I upgraded to the new Ubuntu, I have been having problem with wireless. In the "Hardware Drivers" I come up with 2 drivers:
1) Boadcom B43 wireless driver
2) Broadcon STA wireless driver
I activated the first one, but latter noticed that the wireless was not working, so I tried installing the second and it returned this message:

Ubuntu Networking :: Broadcom Wireless Stopped Working In Lucid?
May 5, 2010after having tried out almost all suggestions found here and elsewhere on the internet, i'm somewhat at my wits end The situation: I'm running Kubuntu 32Bit Version (at the mom 10.4) on a HP-Compaq 6735s (AMD Processor, Vanilla 32Bit Install). My first Install was last year with 9.4 and the Broadcom 4322 wireless worked like a charm after installing the proprietary STA-driver under System -> Hardware Drivers. As the update didn't work out really without glitches, i did a fresh install and lost my wireless. I tried various combinations and tutorials but to no avail. My card is found, the driver installed, but i cannot access my access-point. I can SEE the access point (and all my neighbors'), but knetworkmanager does not seem to do anything. To be sure, I installed wicd (nice tool by the way). Trying a connect here told my my credentials were bad (incorrect passphrase for my WPA2 Personal auth), which is not true. I tried connecting without security, didn't get an IP. So it seems somehow the card is working, but all functions needed for passing information to the access-point are unavailable.
This is what I tried:
both broadcom-drivers
fw-cutter
installing the driver by hand
Installing the driver via Hardware Drivers produced the same results as any other, viz the card is working, but not connecting. Unfortunately knetworkmanagers error messages are a bit sparse, or rather non existant. My guess is that somehow the firmware is not properly loaded (or the wrong type??).

It has a Dell 802.11b/g Wireless LAN Mini card installed and Obunto Edition Version 8.04 Have phoned Dell and after several calls on Hold for over 15 mins each time and getting nowhere fast i am coming to you guys/girls. Sep 1, 2009I chose to change my operating system from Microsoft Xp to Linux and finally chose Fedora to be my new OS.
After Fedora installation I got a problem that I cannot connect to my wireless network I used to using Xp, I think that my wireless card is not installed on Fedora because when I checked in the network configuration I found that the only installed adapter is the Ethernet Realtek for the wired connection.
My OS is Fedora 11.
The CPU Model name is : Intel (R) Core (TM) 2 Duo CPU T8300 @2.40 GHz, so I think that my architecture is x86_64.
My Network controller is : Broadcom Corporation BCM4312 802.11b/g

Aug 7, 2009sometime back when installing FC10, i tried installing ndis wrapper, and later i installed the broadcom driver bcm431 (i think). also i didn't remove the ndis wrapper.
all was fine untill a yesterday when ndis wrapper and some related packages got updated which somehow caused wireless to stop working. lspci showed the hardware present.
to get it to work, i did a yum erase ndis-wrapper, followed by a reboot.
it may not be the most elegent way, but it worked for me.

Sep 19, 2009This is my first post! I am a brand new Linux fan and am determined to understand how this system works! I am running Fedora 11. My wired NIC works just fine. I am having problems with wireless. I ran lspci -v to find my driver details, found it online and got it working so it would show up in the network configuration. I am having problems getting it to work from there. I am used to getting windows to install the driver and then being able to search for wireless networks. When I try to activate it i get:

My networkmanager understands that the card is installed. But it can not find any network. Also iwlist scan gives me no result. I did not have this problem on earlier fedora releases. Recently I upgraded to F12 from F11. I should mention that I have another USB DLink wireless card and when I plug it, everything works fine with that card. I also tested wl_apsta driver using fw-cutter. I did not work neither.

Sep 18, 2010I just installed 10.04 Final Release as a dual boot on my HP Pavilion dv4 1123us laptop, and the "Hardware Drivers" option in System> Preferences does not detect that anything is in need of an install. It also gives me a message right before it checks to do something like connect to the internet to update the database. If I do this, will it detect the 4322AG card, or will I have to do something entierly different? I'm not afraid of the command line, but I also want to keep this as simple as possible. I'm sure this question has been asked before, but I did my best to try and find it earlier.

Sep 11, 2009I have an HP mini 110 with Fedora 11 install. I installed the broadcom-wl and wl-kmod from yum but still no wireless. First I can't get the broadcom card to turn on using the slide switch on the front of the computer. The device is inactive in the network configuration-devices window. The card is not in the network configuration hardware window. When I try to add it manually, there is no entry for the card in the drop down list. I am new to Fedora but have used linux for years. Unfortunately this is my first attempt at wireless networking.
The posts and google stuff doesn't say much more than "yum install broadcom-wl" Can anyone point me into the right direction? I have a feeling I am missing something very simple, because this computer dual boots Linux Mint and wireless works flawlessly.
