Programming :: Single Startup Script For Apache/jboss?

I have apache ,jboss and jon instances on various linux boxes.I need to create a generic startup script to restart those instances on server reboot.The script requirement is :It should take the name of instances from one text file named active-servers and recycle those instances.1. start-mws-servers (generic script for /etc/rc.d but just create it in ~/bin dir for current testing)It simply searches ~/bin/active-servers for active server recycle scriptsIt executes each recycle script and passes it the 'start' commandIt logs results to /tmp/start-mws-servers.

We are using a webserver and application server for our portal. When my JBoss application is down on the application server, a maintenance page is shown to the user when the user tries to access the portal. When the JBoss application on the application server is up, the webserver redirects the request to the JBoss application server. Now, while the JBoss application is up and I replace the contents of index.html page in apache with the maintenance page contents.
Still the webserver redirects the request to the JBoss application server and the contents of index.html are not shown to the user. I am not able to find out any configurations for this automatic redirection in webserver. By automatic, I mean if the JBoss application is up, then redirect the request to the application server, else show maintenance page. What I want to do is show maintenance page even when my JBoss application is up.

Can anyone tell me in performance tunning of apache-tomcat and jboss application server?when I deploy some application in apache-tomcat the performance is say 100 users per second and incase of jboss it is even worst (35-40 users per second)i want to improve my performance 1000 uesrs per second..

I have a single CentOS server with two separate NIC's. I was asked to install an internal Wiki on Apache but have that dedicated to one NIC so it's internal only. Then have just a site running on Apache on the 2nd NIC which is externally accessible. I have never done anything like this and would like tonow how difficult this would be on a single stand alone server that I have above?

I am having a problem with apache's virtualhost directive hosting multiple domains on a single IP with Apache 2.2 on Fedora 11. For example i have domaina.com and domainab.com pointing to the same IP address and have my httpd.conf configured like so:
NameVirtualHost *:80
<VirtualHost *:80>
DocumentRoot /www/domainA

The problem is when i navigate to either domaina.com or domainb.com i get the default Apache page. Its like it is only accepting the default DocumentRoot directive.

I am trying to run two web servers (Virtual Hosts) on a single Linux Centos 5.5 box with a single IP address 192.168.0.182. I did all the pre-installation requirements such yum install mysql, yum install mysqladmin, service httpd start, service mysqld start etc etc.In /var/www/html directory, I have two folder called server1 and server2. These two folders have the necessary web server php script files and folders. I opened the browser and managed to install the script on one web server successfully. When I put the IP address 192.168.0.182 on the browser address bar, the page loads without any problem. Now I would like to be able to install the other web server script and I don't know how to?Here is my httpd configuration;

I'm having a little problem because I've installed xampp, but can't start it because it seems there's already an apache installation in my ubuntu
I've confirmed this by browsing to http://127.0.0.1 , and by doing px ax | grep apache

On startup - prompt asking for apache certificate password doesn't accept input. Can switch to another tty but can't restart apache due to the port already being bound (suppose I could change ports for apache config after startup but that's pretty ugly and clearly not the right way to address the problem.

After a new install of Slackware 12.2, I carried out the following procedures to get everything working successfully right out of the box. The server is a standalone system, used for testing and educational purposes, so please bear that in mind. NB: Throughout this post when you see a single # at the start of a line it means you are typing the commands as root user. You should not include the #, only the text after it.
### setup Apache with php enabled
Login as root user on your Slackware box and type:
# pico -w /etc/httpd/httpd.conf

Running Ubuntu and writing simple C programs. I need 2 text windows, the one I have started in, and a second to display some debug information. I can start a second screen using popen("/usr/X11R6/bin/xterm" "w"), and I get my new text window. However, it is running a shell and I can't send any info to it!

I have a bash script which is called automaticallyI want it so that if when the script is called if a previous instance of it is already running then to delay the running of it until the previous instance has stopped (effectively queue up ./script.sh var1 var2)I have seen some posts about a 'lockfile' but this just seems to stop the second instance running rather than queueing it up to run next (it also needs to be able to queue up a 3rd/4th calling of the script and run them one at a time)

I have a text file called namelist.wps. I was going to use CVS, but I can't find a client that doesn't have to install something on the local machine(we dont have administrative permissions on school computers). Is there a CVS(or Subversion or anything else) client that comes as a single executable file or web interface?

I'm trying to retrieve a single string or value from /proc/cpuinfo, but when I try to extract the model (not the model name) the model name comes with it, also it likes to print it twice...
