View 4 RepliesI'm having a little problem because I've installed xampp, but can't start it because it seems there's already an apache installation in my ubuntu
I've confirmed this by browsing to http://127.0.0.1 , and by doing px ax | grep apache
[URL]
Now I'd like to know how to stop this apache, remove from startup, and uninstall safely so I use xampp's apache instead.
which config files do I edit and how do I do it?
View 2 Replies View RelatedOn startup - prompt asking for apache certificate password doesn't accept input. Can switch to another tty but can't restart apache due to the port already being bound (suppose I could change ports for apache config after startup but that's pretty ugly and clearly not the right way to address the problem.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have apache ,jboss and jon instances on various linux boxes.I need to create a generic startup script to restart those instances on server reboot.The script requirement is :It should take the name of instances from one text file named active-servers and recycle those instances.1. start-mws-servers (generic script for /etc/rc.d but just create it in ~/bin dir for current testing)It simply searches ~/bin/active-servers for active server recycle scriptsIt executes each recycle script and passes it the 'start' commandIt logs results to /tmp/start-mws-servers.

The server is a standalone system, used for testing and educational purposes, so please bear that in mind. NB: Throughout this post when you see a single # at the start of a line it means you are typing the commands as root user. You should not include the #, only the text after it.
### setup Apache with php enabled
Login as root user on your Slackware box and type:

Any one have an idea How to clear apache cache without restarting apache server.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am upgrading my server and I have a lot of sites. Since I cannot take my server down for a few days, maybe a week until I manage to migrate all the sites to the new machine, I figured I could migrate them one by one. After migrating one, I would somehow tunnel the requests of that name virtual host to my internal machine. When everything is migrated, I would then switch the machines, update ip's and stuff and everything will work just fine.
However I cannot seem to find a way to do this tunneling. is this at all possible? If not, what alternatives do I have?
I am installing Big Brother on a CentOS 5.2 running the default Apache 2.2.3. When I try to access any web page I get the following error: Forbidden You don't have permission to access /bb/ on this server. Apache/2.2.3 (CentOS) Server at fmsubbnix Port 80 So far I have:
1) Set the Directory options to FollowSymLinks
2) Verified all directory and file permissions are at 755
3) Set permissions temporarily to 777 and received same error so I am assuming the issue is in a config file somewhere
4) in hhtpd.conf verified <Files ~ "^.ht"> is correct
5) verified the "default" directory is correct (/var/www/html)
I have read and tried several ideas in posts listed on the web but to no avail and am at a loss as to what to look for next..
I am trying to solve a problem where Apache stats aren't displaying correctly in Munin. I've ran through quite a bit of checks and tests regarding Munin setup, but I think my issue is related to Apache, but my skill set there is lacking.

I want to run a linux command with apache through web browser and that's is not working. and it's working properly when I execute this command through terminal, where is the problem?

I just upgraded to the 10.04 and everything works just fine as before (except for skype but that really doesn't matters as it has already been 3 years I'm using ubuntu and I managed to get it to work only once, for miracle I believe ^^). The only real issue I have is this: when I start up my laptop, after the log-in, no sound will be heared as the "speaker" volume level in alsamixer is set to 0; if I raise it from the terminal running alsamixer (as I don't know any other alternative) everything plays just fine, but the next time I boot I do have to do it all over again... So, how can I change the default startup level of the "speaker" in alsamixer?
PS: by the way I do have the very same issue with the screen luminosity but the other way round as is always starts at maximum brightness and I can't manage to get it to start at the minimum, as it did before. At least reducing the backlight if far more quick but a couple of times I forget it and the battery lasted something like half an hour
I have Ubuntu as my main OS, and virtualbox running Windows7 as a guest. I ahve just install xampp, but when i go to run apache2 it will not startup ... I am only wanting to use and access apache on the guest OS, as i use the guest OS for development ...

View 2 Replies View RelatedApache2 on Ubuntu 10.04 no longer parses PHP files. I've done a complete uninstall and reinstall of both Apache and PHP, but no joy.In the Apache2 log, I get this message: /usr/lib/php5/20090626+lfs/xdebug.so: cannot open shared object fileI've done the obvious and checked that the library is there and it is. I tried webmin but it's to bloated.
I'd like to install apache so I can tinker around with php a bit. I read a thread on how to set everything up, and it ended with a chap mentioning that it's important to take security measures while running apache. I haven't "gone out of my way" to make my Ubuntu install any more secure than it comes out-of-the-box. I keep my system updated via Update Manager's automatic updates, but that's it.
So my question is, am I ok to go ahead and plod through some php tutorials using apache to do the server-side stuff? what I would do to keep things safe if I were using a Windows machine?
Using Xubuntu 11.04. How do I install PHP without Apache? PHP5 in Synaptic is bundled with Apache and I'm using another server, not Apache.

I recently restarted my Apache server to change the max upload from 5mb to 25mb. Once Apache restarted I tryed to go to my website via url www.website.com and a blank page with this source code:
<html>
<body bgcolor="#FFFFFF">
</body>
</html>
I also have two demo websites that I am running and when I go to there url's www.website.com/demosite apache will serve up the index.php
I didn't change anything but the max_upload in the apache2.conf and restarted.
When I go to localhost, and try to open any PHP file, it asks me to download the file rather than run it like it should. JSP doesn't appear to be working either. I'm not to concerned about the JSP though.
I'm running KUbuntu 8.04 with KDE 3 on a 64bit machine.
I'm new to Ubuntu and installed Apache, Tomcat and PHP using separate packages. All work well but it seems that the default doc root for Apache and PHP are in different places as:The following command to start Apache: sudo /usr/local/apache2/bin/apachectl start brings me to the "Test Page for Apache Install" and shows the Apache logo--successful--when I hit URl....Also, could someone please tell me how to stop PHP from starting Apache on boot?

I have set up a hostname on dyndns.com and configured my router to forward port 8181, but I cannot view it from the internet (FF says "can't establish a connection to the server"). The DNS is ok, is just the apache webserver that doesn't work.
I can acces my webserver from
http://localhost:8181 (loopback)
http://192.168.1.1:8181 (in the LAN)
BUT NOT <hostname>.dyndns.com
Here is my site configuration

So, what's the matter? How can I reach my apache from the internet? Also, I read about routers loopback errors, but this seems not related to it, since I tried to get it through a proxy server, and it failed

I've run into a problem and I don't know if it's apache or php or the combination of both. I can compile apache 2.2.15 just fine, but whenever I try to compile php 5.3.2 into my server, the first two steps work just fine but when I get to the make install part it shows the libphp5.so and it just stays there and I have to cancel the install because it won't finish.
View 5 Replies View Relatedjust switched our company from windows server to linux and everything is going good except we have 4 vpn connections though out the country coming to our server. All giving the client machines ip addresses of 192.168.x.x based on where they are located 192.168.1.x for the main location 192.168.2.x for a second location etc, and IIS could see the clients ip instead of the wan ip and was setup to block all ips except 192.168.x.x ip's and this worked great.
So i set up apache the same way, to allow only 192.168 ip's but i guess it doesn't work that way in apache for connections coming though vpn? 2 out of our 4 VPN connections are not static IP's, so the 2 that are I just add that ip to the allow list and that worked.But i don't think we should HAVE to get static ips for the other 2, that's one of the benefits of using VPN, especially if our old windows server didnt need it.Is there any way for apache to see the clients ip address for access or is there something somewhere else that needs changed for this?
