Is there any reason why taskjuggler is not included in openSUSE? I can see a version available in openSUSE Factory but it is not built with latest libs. I have several of my friends asking for Project Management software under openSUSE and I don't know what to advise them.

I've starting some research and I see there have been some folks out there have done this on a windows environment...i want to be able to get this going on a Linux environment. what I've found so far is there an open source multi touch project going on called tbeta...not sure if any of you are familiar with tbeta. View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to install Codendi project management software in Ubuntu. this software is recommended to run in lynx by xerox (manufactures of Codendi). Since Ubuntu too is a lynx OS I used that for my installation. My issue is when I try to run the installation script codendi_install.sh the terminal window loads and in few seconds it closes, the script doesn't get executed. when tried from the terminal by navigating to the cdrom, I cant list the files in the CD rom.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am trying to modify the source code of a C application (quagga) in order to insert data into a mysql table. I have added 2 new source files to the source (neto_mysql, neto_trend) which in turn use mysql.h. I have also modified the Makefile.am file to include the /usr/include/mysql directory.
When trying to compile, i get the following error. What am I missing? I have minimal experience with formal C applications like this. I feel like I may also have to include the mysql.h file in the libbgp? I dont understand why it cant find the mysql functions...

Being linux, one should in principle get the source codes for everything that has been precompiled (except the proprietary drivers such as nvidia) in the installation DVDs/CDs. Where are the source codes ? Is there a place I can download them ?
To avoid confusion, I am not referring to the kernel source that can be compiled to give a linux kernel, but that does not include the drivers, such as intel_drv.so.
To be more specific, the intel graphic i810 driver has been built into any linux system, but where is the exact source? One answer may be that primary source intellinuxgraphics.com. However, if anyone tries to download the every changing (i.e., keep updated almost every single day) driver source codes from freedesktop.org, it is almost certain that the source codes will not be the same as the one that is finalized in Fedora 10.

View 9 Replies View RelatedLooking for a Open Source music composition editor similar to Sibelius. I found and settled on Rosegarden. Sound card is Creative Audigy 2 Platinum EX. I also have a midi keyboard which I would like to use with rosegarden. After downloading rosegarden, I found out in order to use the MIDI sequencer, I have to compile and install a real time kernel.
I finally got my kernel configured and installed, recompiled all the video/Ethernet drivers etc (after about a dozen tries ) Now on to the issue... As root, I can run the JACK audio server with realtime priority (as it is needed by Rosegarden) with the command
jackd -R -dalsa &
it starts up and seems to run. Then as a regular user, I try to connect to the JACK audio server using the qjackctl application. Qjackctl loads, but cannot seem to connect to the jack server, giving me the message "UNABLE TO CONNECT TO SERVER AS CLIENT"
HOWEVER, using the same procedure above as root, I can connect to the jack audio server with qjackctl. Rosegarden will start as a regular user but will also not connect to the JACK audio server (therefore: no sound or midi sequencer) Ive tried running Rosegarden as root (I didnt like having to do that), but get a similar error.
Through some googling, I�ve found that JACK clients (qjackctl, rosegarden etc.) must be executed by the same user who launched the JACK server. -- no problem...Except I cannot run a realtime application as a regular user. I read online that regular users can start realtime applications using the LSM module (whatever that is, I couldn�t find all that much).
how do I start the jack audio server in realtime mode as a regular user? if that is not possible...Is there a way to configure JACK so that it is started by root, but allows clients launched by regular users to connect?
I'm trying to use BlueJ 3.0.2 on Ubuntu 10.04, but I can't do nothing. I mean: I can't create new project or open existing one.I installed it twice times without problems.I did not find anything either with google or in the developers' website.

I am getting the error message "E: Malformed line 54 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list (dist parse) E: the list source cannot be read". To top it all off, I still cannot get java to function. I am pretty new to this.

So installed "dvdstyler" created what I think a presentable welcome screen, menu, buttons etc etc. Saved it as "dvd.xml".I went out and came back to start again to add a few more tweeks and to burn it off but now it wont even open my project.When I open the application via a terminal I get some output of errors which I have posted below. This is kind of out of my realm of knowledge so has anyone got any clue what this might mean?

Per the class instructions, I have changed the default runlevel to 3 so the system always boots to a command line. The instructions say log in with your regular user account [I KNOW HOW TO DO THIS] and use the startx command to load GNOME. [I HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO DO THIS]

I began by following the instructions that I found here: Tomcat HOWTO - openSUSE and proceeded to install the requisite packages through YaST, except I chose to install tomcat6 and java 1.6, presuming that they would work equally well to the older versions indicated in the guide. My stumbling block came when the guide went on to tell me to download and compile an alternative mod_jk to the one included (even though I hadn't come across one, so I didn't have to uninstall one like the guide suggested.) The link provided in the guide was dead so I found an alternative link through google, and set up the directory structure as suggested. The next step tells me that I must run this command:

I have tried to create an apxs2 directory in sbin, which isn't allowed. I have also tried running the command without the apxs2 on the end, also to no avail.
I have just entered the world of openSUSE after a chain of other linux distros over the last few years. Btw I love it, its already my favourite. It is useless for most people who are behind a router, because any transfers between same-network computers are subject to the same rules = slow and unnecessary.I used #256461 - wondershaper: Option to limit range of rules? - Debian Bug report logs for these mods.
