OpenSUSE :: Users Are Unable To Connect To Libvirt (polkit Issue)?

Jun 25, 2011

and probably to perform other tasks requiring root privileges (?).I don't know very much about polkit, so I don't know if I'm not missing (or messing up) something. This is the error I get under 11.4:This is the expected behavior (11.3)No matter if I run Gnome, Kde or another de. The process highlighted in red on picture 2 is the one started when a user click on connecting. It fails to start on 11.4 - probably due to my own mistake (?) but I don't know. I could start virt-manager with gnomesu, kdesu or xdg-su -c, that would just start the program as root, but it shouldn't be necessary

Fedora Installation :: Installing XEN With 11 - Unable To Open Connection To Hypervisor URI 'xen:///'

Jun 19, 2009

I have been only using the free vmware server thus far for my virtualization I have recently installed Fedora 11 and am currently looking at using the XEN virtualization software. I am currently running and upgrade from F10 to Fedora 11 with the PAE kernel. Also I am using KDE 4 with kmod-nivida drivers. Now here is what I have done

To install Virtualization requirements I did the following: sudo yum groupinstall 'Virtualization'

I then also did: sudo yum install kvm qemu libvirt python-virtinst

I then installed xen:
sudo yum install xen*

Now, I read that i needed "kernel-xen" but it doesn't appear to exists a "yum list kernel*' only displays kernel packages and the kernel PAE pakages so I figured I don't need it I then started all the xen services and libvirtd service Opened virt-manager and added a new connection: hupervisor: Xen and connection: local

I get the following error: Unable to open connection to hypervisor URI 'xen:///': <class 'libvirt.libvirtError'> unable to connect to 'localhost:8000': Connection refused
None

I guess my question now is... what is the difference between the hypervisor: QEMU/KVM and XEN. Because I seem to be able to create a VM using this. My VM is an XP vm for work purposes to run some windows only software I would like to use XEN as I just have my mind set on it but I might just be ignorant and on the wrong track is there a how to guide for fedora 11 and xen? the fedora 7 guide i found needs the kernel-xen installed.

General :: Bandwidth Management - How To Limit Connection Speed

Jan 4, 2010

In my household a number of people use the internet. Up to a maximum of 3 wired connections and 2 wireless connections at its peak, all connection through my D-LINK G604T router. The problem is, when one person is downloading or watching ..... or whatever, the others using the internet suffer. I've spent hours configuring QoS on my router, and long story short, no matter how I configure it, it just simply does not work. QoS in no way shape or form limits connection speed (which it says it should). Anyway.

I have a spare computer under my desk, and I'd like to know if I could set this up with a (free) linux distro that limits bandwidth speed per connection. For example, of the 1500 kb/ps (about) my modem pulls, is there a way to limit that to 768 or 512 per connection? so person A can still download, person B can still watch ....., and person C can still play counterstrike with a latency under 100. This would solve many, many arguments in my house I am *fairly* good with computers, but if the distro came with documentation and a GUI that would be awesome.

* TL;DR: *
Is there a linux distro I can load on a spare computer that limits bandwidth per connection, wireless or otherwise, with good documentation?
Failing that is there firmware I can use for my modem (dlink g604t) that would do the same?
Failing that do you know of any good hitmen that would solve my family arguments, ahem, permanently?

Debian Configuration :: Unable To Reconnect 3G Connection After New IP Was Given

Sep 28, 2015

I use Debian Jessie 8.2 and I am using a 3G connection using this modem => [URL] ....

The 3G connection works fine, except after 24 hours the connection drops and I cannot reconnect. If I reboot the computer, the connection will work again.

My guess is that my ISP gives me a new IP address after 24 hours and somehow my system cannot handle it.

How can I reconnect my 3G connection without rebooting?

I have already tried the following commands:

Code: Select allsudo service network-manager restart

Code: Select alldhclient -r eth0
dhclient eth0

Code: Select allsystemctl restart ModemManager

Results of journalctl and grepping my connection name (SFR)

Code: Select allsept. 22 17:58:19 ark1 NetworkManager[512]: <info> Policy set 'SFR Web / Prepaid 1' (eth0) as default for IPv4 routing and DNS.
sept. 23 18:17:07 ark1 NetworkManager[9446]: <info> new connection /etc/NetworkManager/system-connections/SFR Web * Prepaid 1
sept. 23 18:17:08 ark1 NetworkManager[9446]: <info> Auto-activating connection 'SFR Web / Prepaid 1'.

[Code] ....

As you can see sept 22 at time 17:58 is when the computer started up. And roughly 24 hours after it failed to reconnect.

Also I should mention that there is a script to run the command:

Code: Select allsudo service network-manager restart

if the computer cannot ping a server, ie if the connection is lost.

More journalctl info when the system tries to reconnect:

Code: Select allsept. 23 23:52:53 ark1 NetworkManager[9446]: <info> Auto-activating connection 'SFR'.
sept. 23 23:52:53 ark1 NetworkManager[9446]: <info> Activation (ttyUSB0) starting connection 'SFR'

Debian Configuration :: Unable To Connect To Internet Connection

The strange thing that is happening is that I keep on being connected and then disconnected and then connected again even if I am continuously connected to my internet connection (no problem when surfing or using skype for example)It also seems to come only from me because when my girlfriend is using the same gadu gadu on her windows laptop simultaneously, she doesn´t get disconnected (whether when she is at home and using the same connection as I am or when she is outside, meaning that it doesn´t seem to come from the whole gadu gadu network)maybe it has something to do with the ports that gadu gadu is using but it is strange that sometimes it is working for a period of time and then not and then again.

Software :: Unable To Start Nessus Daemon

(b) Next , I downloaded the nessus .lzm file and put it in the /base/module dir. But unable to start the nessus daemon. It suggests an error regarding unable to create /opt/nessus and /etc/nessus/nessusd.conf. I think starting nessus as root would help but the problem persists!

Debian Configuration :: Unable To Share Wireless Connection To Ethernet Port

Mar 1, 2010

I have got a laptop running Debian squeeze. I wish to share the wireless connection of the laptop (wlan0) to the ethernet port of the laptop, so that I can share the wireless connection to my desktop PC which is connected to the ethernet port.

[My desktop PC]---Ethernet---[My laptop]---))) WiFi )))---[Public network/ ISP]

I have read the article on Ubuntu community: [url]

I followed the steps, and the /etc/network/interfaces file on my laptop is:

Now the situation is: My laptop can connect to Internet (i.e. ping debian.org from laptop is fine), my desktop PC can connect to my laptop (i.e. ping 192.168.1.1 from desktop PC is fine). However, the desktop PC cannot reach the Internet.

I also read the information on Debian Wiki: [url]

It seems I must install and configure ebtables before sharing my wireless connection to ethernet port. Is it true? (But why the article on Ubuntu community doesn't mention it?) Or I just made some mistakes?
