I'm trying to make a program for Windows Me and linux that will mimic/imitate Windows Security Center. Maybe put it in the cloud? WIndows Me is good, it doesn't matter that Windows Me is discontinued, and I'm not trolling. But my main focus is linux.

I've starting some research and I see there have been some folks out there have done this on a windows environment...i want to be able to get this going on a Linux environment. what I've found so far is there an open source multi touch project going on called tbeta...not sure if any of you are familiar with tbeta. Has anyone gotten tbeta to work on Ubuntu 10.04? If there are other multi-touch projects going on and working under Linux (hopefully Ubuntu 10.04)
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to modify the source code of a C application (quagga) in order to insert data into a mysql table. I have added 2 new source files to the source (neto_mysql, neto_trend) which in turn use mysql.h. I have also modified the Makefile.am file to include the /usr/include/mysql directory.
When trying to compile, i get the following error. What am I missing? I have minimal experience with formal C applications like this. I feel like I may also have to include the mysql.h file in the libbgp? I dont understand why it cant find the mysql functions...

I wish to start development for the open source projects. And going to start working on some project in C/C++ and shell/python scripts. I wish to know the best suitable development environment for this purpose? What about eclipse? I will be interacting with git, make and other open source utilities.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI refuse to use .net for any of my apps since I hate using proprietary code that wont work on other platforms without using emulation.
However, I do like how all the hard work is done for you and you can spend more time implementing, then actually coding stuff like socket classes, date/time classes and other wrappers to make the complex C/C++ code easier to use and tie with each other I have a custom library that I've been adding to as I need stuff, but then I got thinking, there must be something out there with everything I need to code applications, that is easy to use and more reliable and efficient then anything I'd ever make.
Does such framework exist?

Is it possible to make a commercial application for linux and sell it compiling it with linking to open-source libraries without altering them and consequently without allowing download of the source code and without making the application itself free?

This file format would have to be well documented, preferibly open-source, lossless and, most of all, convertible to more popular file formats, such as mp3 or wav maybe. I would like to design my own sound effects through directly editing the binary sequence of a sound file. I imagine this editing would have the purpose of adjusting the voltage variations of the sound device's output in time. It would be perhaps something like a PC-controlled signal generator. I'm thinking I might be able to do this in linux with something like

Being linux, one should in principle get the source codes for everything that has been precompiled (except the proprietary drivers such as nvidia) in the installation DVDs/CDs. Where are the source codes ? Is there a place I can download them ?
To avoid confusion, I am not referring to the kernel source that can be compiled to give a linux kernel, but that does not include the drivers, such as intel_drv.so.
To be more specific, the intel graphic i810 driver has been built into any linux system, but where is the exact source? One answer may be that primary source intellinuxgraphics.com. However, if anyone tries to download the every changing (i.e., keep updated almost every single day) driver source codes from freedesktop.org, it is almost certain that the source codes will not be the same as the one that is finalized in Fedora 10.

I am getting the error message "E: Malformed line 54 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list (dist parse) E: the list source cannot be read". To top it all off, I still cannot get java to function. So installed "dvdstyler" created what I think a presentable welcome screen, menu, buttons etc etc. Saved it as "dvd.xml".I went out and came back to start again to add a few more tweeks and to burn it off but now it wont even open my project.When I open the application via a terminal I get some output of errors which I have posted below. This is kind of out of my realm of knowledge so has anyone got any clue what this might mean?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have project released under GPL. I have found an icon (.png) I want to use in it that also has a GPL license. What do I have to do, if anything, to use it legally? It's "just an icon", and while it represents a significant amount of work on someone's part, it doesn't come with any source code or embedded licenses that I can just copy and include with my project files. I'm sure I can use it because it's GPL and my project is GPL.
That's what GPL was designed for, but I don't want anyone to think I'm claiming I designed it or that I took it without giving proper credit. I just reread the GPL, and it looks like I can do anything I want with it as long as I don't restrict anyone else from doing the same and if I were to modify it, I'd have to put a notice "somewhere" (but where would that be for an icon?) acknowledging that modification. I don't see anything that would make me actually mention it at all in my documentation, etc. as long as I pass it along unmodified.
I have the joyous task of having to find and fix a bug in a large opensource project for an assignment. Fixing the bug should only take about 4 hours according to the lecturer. I would prefer the source language of the project to be Java, since my C++ is quite rusty.
So, does anyone have some experience in this type of thing, and can you give me advice about which projects would not be nasty to an ignorant student? Also, which tools did you use to make it easier for you? I want to learn how to do this,but I'm just a bit clueless at present.
I am trying to write a CMakeList.txt for a project (A). The project needs to use the library of another project (B). For gcc, using -L <path> -ldl works. How can I convert that into cmake file? I tried include_directories, that doesn't seem to work
