I've installed openSuse 11.4 and since then kmix shows just one channel (ALSA Plugin. plugin container)
in openSuse 11.3 I could change one master channel a channels for my subwoofer and an other speaker.
How can I add the other two channels to kmix?
KMix doesn't start up in OpenSUSE 11.4 (x86) + KDE 4.6.0. So I can't configure my audio channels and so on.

I have a problem with kmix, which uses 100% of my processor without stopping. And this is providing to rise of temperature above 80 degrees Celsius. The problem became actual after one of updates of 11.4 series.

It only shows "Internal sound Analog stereo" So I can't set the input/output channels and the headphone channel for my soundcard. The right soundcard drivers are installed (for Creative Sound Blaster Platinum Live Drive). Earlier versions of KMix worked just fine.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have my Acer Revo R3610 PC connected to my LCD TV through HDMI. The sound works but I cannot control the volume from Kmix. I've added the IEC958 channel to the channels in Kmix but it doesn't provide a slider for it. Only a mute. The master volume slider has no effect at all. Is there any way of controlling the volume when connected through HDMI?
I ran the alsa diagnostics script (/usr/sbin/alsa-info.sh) and uploaded it here.

Running openSUSE 11.3, installed a month ago, and the only change I did from the default install was to update to kde 4.5 (along with usual updates).Since the upgrade, kmix doesn't start. When I click it, I see the bouncy kmix icon, and a new slot is opened on the task bar which reads 'kmix', but it shows nothing, and after a minute or so it disappears, along with the kmix bouncy icon.No error is given, so I tried to run from shell. This time when I try 'kmix' it does nothing at all (doesn't appear in 'jobs').

I was using Kmix today without issue and accidentally (perhaps out of curiosity) clicked the 'close' box on the tab which presented all of the volume controls. The thing is, I cannot seem to find out how to recreate it. I seem to recall there was some option to create multiple volume control tabs, but I cannot locate.
Could someone point me in the right direction on how to recreate the tab or delete the kmix settings/config which I assume would re-create defaults?
Kmix refuses to show in the system tray at boot. I have gone to settings and made sure "Dock in system tray" is ticked off. I have un-installed and re-installed it. Nothing. btw running Suse 11.2 and the desktop is kde 4.3.1

I'm using 11.4 x86 KDE.
Since I was change my mainboard and sound chip of course kmix doesn't work, I can change the volume but it doesn't effect on output volume it look like kmix have 3 level, Mute, Low and high.
View 9 Replies View RelatedPC seems to run fine in single channel mode but monitor reports no input in dual channel mode and memtest86+ lists from 1-3 errors per pass in single channel mode. Motherboard (Gigabyte P43T-ES3G) can't be set for the 1.65 volts required by the RAM (2x2 of OCZ3P1333LV4GK PC3 10666). The mobo voltage choices are 1.6 or 1.7 volts. I have tried both and increased the MCH voltage from 1.1 v to 1.2 v, but so far can't get it to run in dual channel mode at all and single channel mode seems to run fine but I still get errors in memtest86+. Also tried optimized Bios settings and loosened memory timings (from 7-7-7-16 to 8-8-8-27 and tRFC 60 to 70) and reset Command Rate from 0 to 2. CPU is Core 2 Quad @ 2.4 Ghz, PSU is rated at 400 watts, Video card is Gigabyte GT220.

When I try to use airplay-ng for the packet injection, it always gives me the error " wlan0 is on channel -1, but the AP uses channel 6". I've tried setting wlan0 to channel 6 manually, but that doesn't help. I spent a while searching for a solution, but it seemed like each page had a different, usually highly complex solution, that still doesn't work. I have the most recent drivers for my wireless card, and it meets all the requirements. So, is there any solution to this that will actually work?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a 4.1 surround setup that the computer sees a 4 channel setup (stuff going to subwoofer is split out in hardware so all the computer sees is the front and rear l/r channels).
All well and good, but phonon isn't giving me an option to set my output to 4 channels, only stereo (which means my rear speakers are useless) or 5.1 (which makes me fear losing channels if I play anything with actual surround sound).
I have a creative sound card (ca106 driver) detected and working. This is a 5.1 capable soundcard and i also have 5.1 speaker system. The sound card works, however, the problem is that only the front speakers are working. I have checked vlc settings, in which front speakers, centre and rear are seen as different devices.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm new to this environment. I'm currently using OpenSuse 11.2 freshly installed. I'm attempting to install FCoE as a target on one box and an initiator on another. I've gone to the Open-FCoE.org site and got the tar file open-fcoe-2.6.34.tar.gz and attempted to install it, but there appear to be missing dependencies, such as libhbalinux. However, the more I seem to install, the more there are unresolved dependancies. I've followed the Open_FCoE Target and Iniator Quick Starts, but I'm running into many missing souce dependencies. What exactly I need in the way of packages, files, etc and how to install them? Is there any documentation of how to install FCoE from scratch?

It has hyperthreading and an 800 mhz fsb which supports dual channel speeds on the chipset. It hasn't arrived yet so I haven't put it in the system but what I would like to know is whether 11.4 work properly with these changes, and will it detect and implement them properly or will I need to reinstall it?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've just upgraded to kUbuntu 10.04. I've been using Gnome for a few years now, and felt the need to try KDE again. I've managed to get my NVidia 8200 with HDMI audio working, but have one last annoying issue.
I can't control volume with my RF remote or keyboard.
More to the point, the keys control the sliders in kMix, but to no effect on the sound. This is likely because I need to use Pulseaudio to get my HDMI working. The sliders in Pulse volume control, control the volume nicely. Either I need a way to force kmix to talk to pulse, or a way to re-map these keys to control pulse.
I don't know what I did, or maybe it was some update. I'm running Kubuntu Maverick 64-bit. Kmix in system tray disappeared. Sometimes it shows up after some long time, but I haven't seen it for the last month. Kmix process still runs, and it takes one entire thread of my Intel i3 processor. Killing kmix and restarting it does not change anything. Sound applications work as expected, but I cannot change volume. They work well also when I kill kmix. When I invoke kmix from xterm, I get the following messages:

I lately bought a Logitec c200 webcam, which seems to be interfacing quite well with my ubuntu 9.10 except for one thing: the moment I plug it in kmix doesn't recognize my microphone/headphones but only the webcam's inbuilt microphone- anybody know of a cure for that problem?

I just want to record some audio, but it's only recording on one channel, the left channel.I tried audacity and sound recorder. checked the sound preferences, Hardware set to Analog Stereo Duplex. In audacity Preferences > Devices > Recording, 2 (Stereo) is selected.When recording in audacity the output meter for the left channel shows activity while the right channel looks like it goes up a little bit but doesn't peak like the left channel. I have a checked to make sure that nothing is muted, and I do have sound over the rear channel when I change the wiring on the physical machine. However, I get no sound over the headphone channel. I also changed the conf for pulseaudio to have a default of 2 sound channels. In addition the sound works fine in my Fedora 13 and Win 7 installs, this is a triple boot machine .
