View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with Opennebula that I have been trying t o solve for weeks, I have tried many options and have got nowhere. I have two HP ML115 servers configured to act as opennebula cluster nodes named opennebula01 and opennebula02. I have also installed the Front-end opennebula management deamon on node opennebula01. To use opennebula I have created a paswordless oneadmin user which seems to be ok because I can ssh to localhost and both nodes without a password. Using the onehost command I have created two hosts both tehse hosts are running correctly.
See Example1.
Periodically the opennebula monitoring system will fail, the problem I am having is that the logs keep showing the message:
"sudo: no tty present and no askpass program specified"
See example2
I have used the visudo command to change the sudoers Defaults visiblepw option but I just get a "root's password:root's password:sudo: pam_authenticate: Conversation error" error.
See Example 3 and Example 4.

I'm new to this environment. I'm currently using OpenSuse 11.2 freshly installed. I'm attempting to install FCoE as a target on one box and an initiator on another. I've gone to the Open-FCoE.org site and got the tar file open-fcoe-2.6.34.tar.gz and attempted to install it, but there appear to be missing dependencies, such as libhbalinux. However, the more I seem to install, the more there are unresolved dependancies. I've followed the Open_FCoE Target and Iniator Quick Starts, but I'm running into many missing souce dependencies. What exactly I need in the way of packages, files, etc and how to install them? Is there any documentation of how to install FCoE from scratch?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently setup a new SUSE box for the purposes of acting as an ftp/sftp server. It's currently setup to run ProFTPD 1.3.3.rc3 and mod_sftp/0.9.7. The server has two internal network interfaces eth0 and eth1. eth0 is purely for internal use to accept ftp and ssh. eth1 is outward facing and receives connections from the WAN via SFTP over port 22. The problem I am facing is that after half hour to an hour eth1 stops accepting connections whenever there is no SSH connection present on eth0. I can't figure out why this is happening.
ProFTPD is setup as follows: SocketBindTight directive is on, default server and port are commented out.
[code]...
When the external interface is unreachable the proftpd and proftpd-sftp logs show no record of any connection attempt. I have noticed however if I leave eth0 down eth1 stays contactable without problem. Can anyone give me some pointers on what I can check to find out why this may be happening.
Installed a TP-Link TG-3269 Gigabit card in a machine running OS 11.3 32 bit, when I go into Yast, Network Devices, Network to try configuring the card I get this errormsg: Unable to configure the network card because the kernel device (eth0, wlan0) is not present. This is mostly caused by missing firmware (for wlan devices). See dmesg output for details. Couldn't find any mention of the card in dmesg's output, (though the 8139 onboard card is in there) there is some stuff about pci host bridge but I don't know whether they would be relevant or not
The chip on the card says it's rtl8169sc but lspci lists it as being 00:07.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. Device 8369 (rev 10) Done some googling and there don't seem be any drivers for a Realtek 8639 and it returns no matches from a search on realtek's site, but there is a driver there for rtl8169sc chips, which I downloaded and installed, no errors when installing it Even after a reboot I still get the same error in Yast's Network Settings screen, lspci still lists it as 8369 and the device isn't listed at all if I run ifconfig
PC seems to run fine in single channel mode but monitor reports no input in dual channel mode and memtest86+ lists from 1-3 errors per pass in single channel mode. Motherboard (Gigabyte P43T-ES3G) can't be set for the 1.65 volts required by the RAM (2x2 of OCZ3P1333LV4GK PC3 10666). The mobo voltage choices are 1.6 or 1.7 volts. I have tried both and increased the MCH voltage from 1.1 v to 1.2 v, but so far can't get it to run in dual channel mode at all and single channel mode seems to run fine but I still get errors in memtest86+. Also tried optimized Bios settings and loosened memory timings (from 7-7-7-16 to 8-8-8-27 and tRFC 60 to 70) and reset Command Rate from 0 to 2. CPU is Core 2 Quad @ 2.4 Ghz, PSU is rated at 400 watts, Video card is Gigabyte GT220.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to crack my wep password just for kicks, but I keep running into the same error. When I try to use airplay-ng for the packet injection, it always gives me the error " wlan0 is on channel -1, but the AP uses channel 6". I've tried setting wlan0 to channel 6 manually, but that doesn't help. I spent a while searching for a solution, but it seemed like each page had a different, usually highly complex solution, that still doesn't work. I have the most recent drivers for my wireless card, and it meets all the requirements. So, is there any solution to this that will actually work?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a network drive connect to my lan with iomega's iconnect device. I am getting tired of mounting the drive manually each time I want to use it. I would like therefore to have it mounted automatically on boot by placing a line in fstab, but since the computer (a laptop) won't always be connected to my home lan, this might cause problems. Is there a way to list the drive in fstab so if the drive is not present it will just move on?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have installed Linux SuSE 10.3 on a PC (Lenovo Thinkstation A58). However, when I start the computer I get the following error message:
"No valid Host_ID or host-name found."
I then use YaST to set up the network. I get the following error message:
"Unable to configure the network card because the kernel device is not present."
The computer has Windows 7 installed and everything seems to work fine. The LED on the Ethernetplug is blinking when using Windows, but not when using Linux. I guess this means that there is no driver for the Ethernet card (Marvell Yukon 88E8057). I have not found any driver for the card and am considering buying a new one. Which PCI card works with SuSE Linux 10.3?
I've installed openSuse 11.4 and since then kmix shows just one channel (ALSA Plugin. plugin container)
in openSuse 11.3 I could change one master channel a channels for my subwoofer and an other speaker.
How can I add the other two channels to kmix?
I have a 4.1 surround setup that the computer sees a 4 channel setup (stuff going to subwoofer is split out in hardware so all the computer sees is the front and rear l/r channels).
All well and good, but phonon isn't giving me an option to set my output to 4 channels, only stereo (which means my rear speakers are useless) or 5.1 (which makes me fear losing channels if I play anything with actual surround sound).
I have a creative sound card (ca106 driver) detected and working. This is a 5.1 capable soundcard and i also have 5.1 speaker system. The sound card works, however, the problem is that only the front speakers are working. I have checked vlc settings, in which front speakers, centre and rear are seen as different devices.

View 1 Replies View Relatedfew days ago I upgraded amarok on my openSuSE 11.2 from amarok-2.3.1-1 to amarok-2.3.1-4 (with vendor change to OBS KDE:Backports obs://build.opensuse.org/KDE).Then I noticed that the lastfm service is not functioning. It was missing from the internet services as well. As if the plugin does not exist. Taking a look at the /usr/share/kde4/services I did not find any .desktop file that was referring to the lastfm service (as I found for magnitude or the other internet services in amarok). So I downgraded to 2.3.1-1 (vendor obs://build.opensuse.org/home:enzokiel).
After the downgrade I had the .desktop files, but still the lastfm plugin was not loaded. I checked the liblastfm and it was there:liblastfm.so -> liblastfm.so.0.3.1***ALAS*** it was the 0.3.1, not the 0.3.0 as it was required by the dependencies.A workaround I thought is to just make a symbolic link to the 0.3.1 with the name 0.3.0. So I did. And it worked. What didn't work is that when I upgraded back to amarok 2.3.1-4 the desktop files were still missing and so was the lastfm plugin from amarok internet services.
I share this for the following reasons:
1. Maybe other people have encountered the same problem, and this could save them time/effort
2. I don't know if I should open a bug report against this, or it is just a matter of how the package was compiled. I don't want to waste developer's time by investigating something that is not a bug, but a feature.__2a. I think this is an openSuSE specific problem, that is why I am posting it here.
3. Would the correct solution be a downgrade of both the liblastfm and amarok?
Until now I have been running a single threaded cpu at single channel speed but yesterday I bought a 3.2 gig p4 for 20 bucks. It has hyperthreading and an 800 mhz fsb which supports dual channel speeds on the chipset. It hasn't arrived yet so I haven't put it in the system but what I would like to know is whether 11.4 work properly with these changes, and will it detect and implement them properly or will I need to reinstall it?

View 9 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to map the same "Present Windows - All Desktops" action which is invoked by activating the top left corner of active screens via a keyboard shortcut? I basically want to ape OSX and have an expose-like button, the screen edge works fine for now, but I would love a keyboard shortcut also. Is it possible? Also, when I set up a custom keyboard shortcut to run yast, I initially tried using the same command from the KDE menu: /usr/bin/xdg-su -c /sbin/yast2
However, when I use the keyboard shortcut to launch this command, I get problems when trying to use zypper after the initial launch using the keyboard shortcut(from yast GUI or CLI). The error basically states another instance of yast2 already exists. The problem is only with the app/repo management modules though; for instance I can launch yast (using keyboard shortcut or start menu) and access hardware info, sudo users etc, I just can't access software/repo management stuff. Even when I kill the offending PID from the CLI I still get the error and have to restart the box to rectify it proper. So I changed the keyboard shortcut command to : /usr/bin/kdesu /sbin/yast2
and this seems to have resolved the problem. My second question is what is the difference between the two in this particular instance and why does one cause problems (xdg-su) and the other does not (kdesu).
On Linux Mint (Gnome) i used to go to Network drive. that is on the right hand side of Nautilus there is a short cut for Network. in there i could see my network hard drive and other laptops connected to the network, and i could access my files. but on OpenSuse, when i open the network folder, nothing comes up. may be it needs some sort of configuration.
