When I click it, a window opens but I loose the menu bar. I click on a post in this window, and the same happens. So, if I want to save the page, I have no way to do it.

I have fedora 10 installed on vmware, running on win7. today when I try to start up fedora, after logging in, I faced this error: Oops! sealert hit an error! ..... there is no space left on device..... could not attach t desktop process... when I click "ok" button I just can see a black page and a mouse cursur circling forever..I really need to work with my fedora beacause i dont have any backup of my files ... btw, I allocated 8g hard disk to my machine on vmware. I don't have any idea how to boot and login from a console not a gui

View 6 Replies View RelatedYesterday night everything was normal until I rebooted to Fedora. This morning I switched back to Kubuntu 9.04 and the keyboard had a strange behaviour. Every button needs to be pressed ~2 sec. in order the letter to show up. And that happens in every application (shell, firefox, etc). I tried to upgrade to 9.10 hoping that it will return to defaults but the problem persist. Please help solve this issue, my work is hanging and all the programs I'm using at the moment are installed on my Ubuntu partition.

View 2 Replies View RelatedKDE tends to freeze momentarily after performing some tasks, like closing a window, pressing a button that should result in an option pane being popped, or simply trying to drag a window around the desktop. It doesn't happen every single time, but it's very persistently. I first noticed that the mouse would freeze sometimes when I do something like close a window and it takes 3~4 seconds for me to get control back, and for the task that I requested (close a window for instance) to be carried out.
During this time, I notice that all of KDE freezes up because my binary clock widget freezes as well. Is this a known problem with KDE? Can somebody give me some advice as to what might be causing this behaviour? I recall having similar problems back when I first tried 11.0, but back then it was so bad that I ended up going with Gnome. Now KDE has me hooked again, except for this one niggling issue. If I can get this resolved, then I think I will finally have an absolutely stable linux desktop.

I just installed Nautilus Elementary and Gloobus Preview, and am having a problem with Gloobus Preview. At first, when I pressed the gear icon, the menu would come down. Then, I changed toggled the preferences so that Gloobus Preview would quit when it lost focus, and so that it would always be on top. Now, whenever I click the gear, Gloobus Preview shuts down. I ran it from the terminal, and nothing abnormal happens when it quits from a gear press. Could it be something about the close button position being goofed up? I don't think so, because the expand picture button also makes it quit. It's weird, though, because the open in application button on Gloobus Preview doesn't "crash" it. It opens up in the Image Viewer. I tried modifying the preferences in /usr/bin, but that didn't do anything. Purging and reinstalling also does nothing.

How could I do the wake up from a keyboard, mouse or even a remote control,Does anyone know or has this issue?
When in sleep, keyboard and mouse seem to be dead, no response at all.
I've been pulling my teeth out trying to find out a way to automatically save a screenshot to a folder by pressing a hotkey, and append a counter or timestamp to the end of the filename. I found this which works well

but I need a way to add a counter so that it doesnt constantly override the same file when I press the hotkey, but will save a new screenshot in the same folder.
I've been looking at bash commands and scripts for the past 3 hours but haven't found it yet, and it seems like it should be an easy task to perform.
I am working as system administrator for the past 5 years, but only on Windows XP systems, I recently moved to Linux, frankly speaking a few days ago, and i got many problems with it. may be as i am a beginner. My Problem started with Ubuntu 9.04 amd 64 and now with 10.04 beta.
The main problem I installed the wine (I am aware that wine is not compatible with all softwares of microsoft) and Installed microsoft office 2007 and it installed successfully but after installation when I launched Microsoft Excel it got hanged (only the Microsoft excel) and loading logo stood on top of all applications, then I decided to restart and pressed the restart button from menu on the right top. but there was no further response, then I pressed the reset button after waiting for 3-4 minutes to get rid of that logo of Microsoft in the center of my screen.
Now, when the Ubuntu was booting, Text arrives and disappears fast saying dev/file system has errors the logo of Ubuntu 10.04 and dots of loading at the bottom arrived and text written in the bottom of that "on of the drives needs to be checked, please wait it may take some time" Press 'C' to cancel disk check up. Now, its checking for a long time maybe for 30 minutes and the bottom text disappears and the loading Ubuntu 10.04 logo still remains and nothing happening after that.
I Pressed alt+crtl+del 2 times, it restarts saying that saving some alsa process, then again the same thing after restart. If I press C, it displays in the bottom of Ubuntu 10.04 logo "/File system has errors" and the loading screen remains like that. Now what is the solution and what are the precautions to be taken while using Ubuntu, as I was interested in introducing Ubuntu to marketing managers of offices, who wonder on the Internet all the time finding stuff and getting attacked by viruses. If this type of problems continue in Ubuntu, it will not be safer to use it, as if it wont boot during sudden power failures, that could result in a big problem.
I stucked on a weired problem in Lucid, I am trying to install a recent update i got while pressing the Reload button in synaptic is that of language-pack-gnome-en. It is not installing and saying this message :

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am running Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx LTS. My laptop is an HP Pavilion TX1210AU (TX1000 series). After disabling the touchpad using the toggle button and reenabling it again, it stopped working. I tried restarting my laptop and the mouse worked again only up to the Login Screen. After logging in to my account, the mouse froze again. I tried making a new account and tried logging into it (I'm using it now) and it's now fixed. Does Ubuntu change any user settings everytime the touchpad toggle (on/off) button is switched? Maybe I could just reenable it myself.

Everything worked perfectly fine, networking included, until my friend didn't accidently turned off the wireless by pressing a wireless button on the laptop. Since then the wireless on Fedora doesn't work. It does on Windows thought. I've tried restarting the laptop few times, but the wireless still doesn't want to work again.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI'm attempting to install lFedora 10 from a live cd. I already finished the installation process. But when I reboot to finish the post installation information I can't click the forward button to continue because the screen resolution is to low on my LCD. I can't see the forward button to click in the lower right hand corner. I found out if I just hit the enter button I got through the "Welcome" and "License Information" part but when I get to the "Create User" part after I Confirm my password the pressing the enter button doesn't work. And of course I can't see the "Forward" button to click. Is there some way to go in text mode?
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I click on the OpenOffice button in my panel, the window comes to the front, but the focus is still on the last window; so clicking on the OpenOffice button again will not minimize it, typing will not key anything into the document, and clicking on the last app's button will minimize that one instead of switching to it. I might also ask the OpenOffice community in case this is an OO issue. I also might need to switch to AbiWord. OO is an annoying application.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI can think of a lot of different situations when being able to "autoclick" would be really useful. By autoclick, I mean that I want to be able to hold down the left-click button and have it rapidly clickity clickity clickity as fast as the processor can handle.
One example is games where I have a semi-automatic weapon and I have to hammer the mouse button with my finger. It would be nicer to reduce the wear and tear on my trackpad.
I have successfully mapped the plus-minus key on the keyboard to emulate the Wheel/Middle Mouse Button click with this shell script run at startup:

This is so I can rotate the view in Blender without clicking the wheel, because the wheel also zooms, and it's too easy to zoom inadvertently. The remaining problem is panning, a Shift-MMB combination. Now I'm lost - how can I map a key (or better still, a Shift-key combo) to the Shift-MMB click?
I would like to assign right-mouse-click behaviour to a hardware button. I can associate a keypress, or a combination of keypresses with an "xdotool click 3" command via the Gnome keyboard shortcuts.
I have the scancode of the hardware button so can use
setkeycodes scancode keycode
to mimic any key of my keyboard. However, I don't want the hardware button to mimic a single key of my keyboard that is already in use, since then the keyboard key will also activate xdotool.
So I think I need:
- either a way to associate that particular scancode with an (outlandish) keypress combo rather than a single keypress;
- or a keycode which is not currently in use, to bind to the scancode. Are there any like that and how would I find out? In the Gnome Keyboard Shortcuts list there is stuff like "XF86AudioMedia" which I'm not using -- but does that correspond to a numerical keycode value which setkeycodes understands?
My eeepc 900 works well in general, i am very happy with it, and mostly with lucid. But I suddenly ,3 days ago, discovered that my left click button doesn't work anymore. Could it be software related?It happened on my 700 surf for a little while, but before I could really get worked up, it had resolved itself. btw my 900 is maybe old but has not till I aquired it seen much use, I doubt it could be from overuse, but then again, you never know..
