I have a canonscan Lide 100 scanner. Yast determined it as non-configured scanner, and I saw, there is no support for the newer scanners.
Is there a way to make it work? Both xscane and skanlite aren't recognize the device.
Is the Canon scanner .. CanoScan LiDE 600F .. supported in ubuntu 10.10?
This scanner works in Vista.

I am trying to install gcc 4.2.4 I specifcially need C++ 4.2.4 and gfortran 4.2.4. I successfully installed gcc 4.4.1 through yast. However, the software I am trying to compile will not compile with 4.4.1. After contacting the software support, they inform me that it will only compile with 4.2.4. So, I searched yast with no luck. I have found a .tar.bz2 on the internet. I attempted to configure and then build. I get the following error after running the make command.
configure: error: cannot find neither zip nor jar, cannot continue
If I start and open kde4-printer-applet and select settings -> configure printers nothing appears. Could someone confirm? I realize printers can be config'ed in Yast and using cups web ui (http://localhost:631/) 11.4, kde 4.6.1.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am currently running openSUSE 11.3 x86-64 with two monitors, a 24" and a 20", both running off of an nVidia 9800 GTX+ using twinview. Does any one know of a way to have programs open by default on my 24" display or at least default to the display which the program was used previously. My computer seems to prefer to open programs on the 20" more so than the 24". In all other aspects the 24" is the primary monitor. I think that I am looking for some sort of setting within KDE.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm supposed to migrate a website I'm working on from Windows to Linux, so I downloaded the whole site from its webserver to my Linux enviroment, but, although everything work perfectly under Windows, on Linux all the scripts just won't load, and I ain't got no idea of what could be the problem causing this - but I had installed phpMyAdmin and it worked fine. I'm using Apache 2.0 (2.2.17-4.5.1), PHP5 Module for Apache (5.3.5-5.14.1) and MySQL (5.1.53-4.7.1) under openSUSE 11.4 x86_64. Oh, I had the same problem when trying to load the page under Mandriva 2010.
So I tried to reinstall Apache as well as PHP and phpMyAdmin following the instructions in here step by step, but, after reinstalling these not even phpMyAdmin is working anymore, and if I call a(ny) php page from localhost in the browser, a download window pops up, which means Apache doesn't recognise the php ile as a script to be executed by php machine, or something like that.Looking at httpd.conf (apache configuration file) I noticed there's no reference to php module. I tried to manually configure it, but it seems there's also no libphp5.so in my computer (tried to find it using dolphin's search feature)... I guess I'll have to unninstall everything php related and then try to compile PHP from source and just thinking of that already gives me headaches

I have bought a new USB modem from my service provider. The model they provided is "Huawei EC1260" Huawei Terminal. As usual the official support is for windows and mac.
I tried to install this device using two methods..
1) Set knetworkmanager settings to "traditional with ifup". Then in wireless setup there is a choice of having "usb" (A tick box). I selected that, and setup completed successfully but the knetworkmanager was not up(I did ifdown wlan0 (wlan0 was the wireless config name), ifup wlan0 and the rcnetwork restart.)
2) Again knetworkmanager was set to "traditional method with ifup. This times while adding the connection I specifically selected the type "USB", then clicked to finish the configuration. The configuration finished without any errors but when I checked the Network Configuration screen no USB device was added there.
Are there any specific steps to configure a USB modem
I am using opensuse 11.2 with a server that has a static ip from my isp and the ip is working. I have tried with an old domain but I cannot try anymore with it. I have installed yast dns server and configured it normally. When I will buy a new domain i will asign those nameserver(s) to ns(x).domain.com with my ip address.
When the changes will take effect at the registrar it will point to my dns server. I have added two forwarders to my isp domain name servers and a zone with mydomain.com and for testing I don't have firewall. The dns server is started at boot time. That's all that is required to be done? I have to set other things before I buy the domain?

I try to configure evolution on my opensuse, for using my outlook account. I tryed a lot, and tryed to understand a lot, but all seems to be very diffucult.
What I completely miss on the internet / documentation / everywhere is what to enter where. I can open in my outlook, the account settings. But names there, are not the same names in evolution.
And what to use, mapi, imapi mapi+ whatever. I have no clue about that.
What I found today, is something about proxy. since I was unable to ping a server host with a very strange name. NLCLUEXA11.connect1.local But I also have somewhere a exchange proxy.
Whith a https://www..... url ?? and an NTLM Authentication, no idea about that.
There is also an web interface, webclient, but that also seems to go wrong.
Is there any simple explanation, or just a simple tutorial, which show the outlook settings, and where to put them in the evolution settings ??

I'm using the yast2 gui interface to configure apache. I think its called yast2_http_server. I added one website with *:80 set as the virtualhost ID. When I go to add a second website with the same thing, it errors out with: The IP address is already configured on another virtual host: *:80/mydomain.com. I have another opensuse box with many websites in apache configured this way.

I have been trying to configure dual monitors of different resolutions on 11.4 the Nvidia configuration utility does not know where or what to save anything anymore and goes wonky. Trying to use it is a dead end for me. X11 is a mess. What happened to SAX and things like this that were part of openSUSE and just worked? Supposedly we X11 got better. I think it's got over complicated and much worse. This stuff just worked in 11.1 and KDE 3.
