I was just looking today,and it appears that suse 11.2 no longer uses the xorg.conf file to configure certain hardware...(the only thing written to the file is my ATI info) so where would I find what I'm looking for? (I'm specifically looking to configure my synaptics touchpad mouse)

Is there a way to get a list of all packages installed since install (that are currently on the system) and upon re-install run an application that will automatically install those packages. This would save greatly on initialisation time (the re-set up afterwards). Essentially, I want to re-install and/or move to another machine and want to the new install to reflect the system as it currently stands.

For instance, when I save the content of this link [url] on my hard-drive and open the file in Kate, Kwrite or Eclipse, all accentuated characters are displayed as black lozenge signs with a ? inside. What should I fix in my configuration to have those characters show correctly?
A related but maybe slightly different situation is the following: In Eclipse, when I use a French keyboard layout in Eclipse (using the shortcut Ctrl + Alt + K after setup in Configure Desktop > Regional & Language), I can type and display accentuated characters correctly. However, as soon as I spell check my document (I believe Eclipse use aspell for that), all the words containing the accentuated characters that I typed are shown as being wrong. kpilot worked just fine with my Palm Tungsten T3 on OpenSuse 10.3. I recently upgraded to 11.2 and have had numerous problems. It took me a while to get the hardware talking (documented in another thread), but now the sync is proving to be problematic. A hotsync happens - and I can also sync fully with jpilot, but the sync isn't going anywhere. I'm hoping to sync with kontact, but it's impossible to tell as kpilot hangs whenever I try to configure the conduits through the "Configure kpilot" menu item. When syncing, the log complains of missing conduits:

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been trying to configure Coriander on my 32-bit system (Ubuntu v10.04), but I've run into an issue that I've only found discussion boards for in French, a language I'm nowhere near fluent enough in to translate on a tech forum. When I run the ./configure command in the coriander folder, things run fine. Everything configures normally, and I move on. But then, when I run 'make', it runs a few lines making folders, and then this error message pops up:

From the help desk they told me that i need to configure a file to fit with my system. View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been trying to configure webalizer on a centOS 5.5 system.I did the yum install and I found this helpful link...[URL]..However when I try to change the dir it puts the info into, it keeps giving me an error cannot cd to the directory. I changed the /etc/webalizer.conf file as described in the above article and try to run it manually same results.
/etc/cron.daily/00webalizer Error: Can't change directory to /home/webalizer/ When I put the original dir back in the path it writes to /var/www not /var/www/output like it should. I even tried a local /var/wwww/output dir. Then I tried a link to /home/webalizer/output (a dir I created) and same results.(with orginal .cfg in place) I go to my www page remote or on the local network I get page not found errors. http://mysite.com/webalize or 192.168.1.80/webalizer page not found.
In summary.
1. Why wont the /etc/webalizer.cf file allow me to change the location of the files?
2. How do I display the www page to view the data?
3. How can I secure the www page so only I can view the data.

My problem is that I need to move a moderately complex system from an old system to a new system. The old system is a core 2 duo running on an asus p5k-se (p35 chipset) M/B, Nvidia 8500 gt, 3 x sata II hard disks, 1 x sata dvd, 1 x ide hd, 4GB ram. It runs opensuse 11.1 kde 4 as a desktop system + samba server, apache server, database server + other non-opensuse software. In addition some of the opensuse software is not the default 11.1 versions as later versions were required. The nvidia driver is from the nvidia repo. There are several file systems, some under LVM.
The new system will be a core5 760, asus p7p55d-e M/b (p55 chipset), nvidia 240, 3 x sata II HD, 1 x sata dvd, 4GB ram and possibly 1 x ide HD. This M/B also includes USB 3 & sata III. I have no USB 3 devices but this may eventually change. I have no plans for sata III and believe that it may be better to attach any sata III SSD to the sata II bus.
What I would like to do is to move the hard disks from old system to the new system. What I would like to know is, if the system is left at 11.1, is the system likely to work with the new hardware. If the answer is no, if the system was upgraded to 11.3, would the transfer of the hard disks then work? In order to upgrade from 11.1 to 11.3 using the DVD i believe I should get rid of all non-default repos. I assume that I should also get rid of anything that was installed from them, e.g. the nvidia driver and any software versions installed manually outside RPM. Also is there any default 11.1 software that should be removed either before or after the upgrade to 11.3
I used to configure and run PHP script in Redhat Linux System for a long time ago. Now I forgot almost everything in Linux. I downloaded and install Fedora 11 Live CD. Start httpd service(Appache). It does work with html but not PHP script. And I can't remember how to configure the system to interpret PHP script.

My neighbors are starting to think I'm weird because I sit in my car for hours on end with my laptop screen shining on my face, typing away like a script kiddie.

It works in sniff and packet log mode but i cannot seem to set up IDS mode correctly. There is alot of different info on the net but not much help. Unfortunately, I am unable to configure my system for dual boot and my PC always boots right up into Windows Vista which is the original OS on my original HDD. I have searched the web, but only find examples of splitting partitions and dual booting into different versions of Windows.
