I use my university email account and i want to save a backup of my sent emails in other account (gmail). So, is there any way to configure kmail to send automatically a BCC to my gmail account everytime i send an email, i mean, without having to write it everytime cause i forgot to do it sometimes.

So I unchecked the default-domain inside my sending option for SMPTE and same thing.

I am using KMail 1.13.7, and receiving mail works fine, but sending mail via SMTP through Gmail doesn't work. When I try to send email it give me "Transport 'Gmail.com' is invalid". I have tried deleting the account and recreating it to no avail, and I even tried changing smtp.gmail.com to smtp.googlemail.com, with the exact same error.

In reality: It does not automatically go anywhere, but provides a menu to change OpenPGP encryption key. When I click on the button to change my key it shows me a selection menu with my key in it. When I select it, the red cross appears on the icon near the key and the "OK" button remains grey, so I can not do anything. Did anybody try to configure Kmail with GPG? How do you configure Kmail to use your keys?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have been using kmail on opensuse (11.2) for about 3 months with few issues. I usually launch using alt+F2, type "kma" and it appears top of the list. I have turned on my laptop today and kmail has simply disappeared. I have gone through the ghekko and the only mail client listed is thunderbird. It is not in the alt+F2 menu. If I type kmail in konsole I get the "if kmail is not a typo" speech. I've also tried using kontact (for the first time) to see if my mail appears there

At the moment I have to manually go into settings and change the default smtp server before I send the message. So I basically want to associate an smtp server with an identity. It doesn't seem that this is possible to do. I do know about the "Reply to Address" option but this is not what I want. For starters my smtp server won't allow this operation to take place.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have several computers at work running Fedora 12. From time to time I need to remotely connect to them, usually via ssh. Each computer is assigned an IP number automatically upon startup, however due to circumstances beyond my control they are not recognized by host name by the domain server. Therefore I require the IP addresses in order to connect rather than the host names. I have no way at present to rectify this situation.
When there is a reboot, I am not always guaranteed that the IP address will be the same as before, although in practice this is usually the case. If the IP address is changed and I am logging on remotely, I am unable to connect! I can't know the number until I am again physically sitting at the computer.
As a solution, I would like each computer to e-mail me its IP address each time it boots. My first attempt was to run a script at the end of /etc/rc.d/rc.local that runs ifconfig and places the output into a file. This file is then sent to my address using sendmail. The script works fine, but I note that the output from ifconfig at this boot stage does not contain an IP address! Obviously, it is being assigned later on in the startup process. Either that or the command ifconfig does not work the same at this stage as it does once I am logged in. I require somebody with more expertise than I to comment on that.
Finally then, my question is, at what point in the startup process is an IP address assigned and the output from ifconfig would contain this address? Is there a more appropriate place rather than rc.local in which I should run my script? Is there a more appropriate command rather than ifconfig that ought to be used instead?

Let me show you my attempted solution in more detail in case you're interested. The script is called .SendIP.bash and is located in my home directory. Here's what it looks like (with some censoring to protect me from public ridicule):

As I stated above, the output from ifconfig does not contain the IP address when my script is called from rc.local.
How can I send gpg encrypted mail automatically from the linux command line?
I'm a little stumped on this one, I've tried using mutt but it doesn't encrypt mail unless it's used interactively.

View 5 Replies View RelatedAt last, I am serious converting from openSUSE/KDE3.5 to openSUSE 11.2/KDE 4. Being a bit retarded in this, the following must have been solved by many.
After starting Kmail in KDE 4 I managed to see all my mails. I also managed to get my filters moved from old to new (had to go back to 3.5 to export them first).
But I still fail to see how to copy my accounts/identities, etc. It is not done automaticaly, there is no export function I could find. How to manage this?
EDIT: must be 3.5 in the title. Done by a nice mod.
On my OpenSuse 11.2 KDE 4.3.5, when I launch kmail for the first time it does not start. I have to re-launch it to get it running. By launching it from the command line, I get the message:

Regarding few things I am facing problem :
1. How to send one copy of that outgoing mail generated from the source. It should cc to another mail id in server's backend while mail sending.
2. I don't have any domain - internally or externally. Only have static ip, accessible from outside. Can I configure sendmail to send-receive through that ip.
3. How to transfer all mails and addressbook from exchange server to linux sendmail server.

I have searched for similar threads including this thread, but the responses do not seem to have solved the problem. All I want is to call sendmail from Perl, to post myself the responses to a test form I am building, using my normal internet mail address. I do not want to receive or relay mail from any host except the web server itself (127.0.0.1).
I have edited sendmail.mc to define SMART_HOST as my isp's mail server and MASQUERADE_AS to be my local network name (which is not a registered domain - it is just the name I have given my home intranet). I have run make and built a fresh sendmail.cf, then restarted sendmail.
Using my form, I am able to submit the message to sendmail, but after 40 seconds the mail log shows a message

In all previous versions of KDE I had Console8x16 set as KDE font for all cases (Settings->Appearance->Fonts). After tonight upgrade, this (only!) font is not working. I can see it in font manager, I can set it in ...Appearance->Fonts, but actually remains default font. Two of about 30 attempts somehow (can not reproduce) succeeded to set "console 12" font, but it disappeared after restart.
1. What can be the problem in 4.4?
2. In /usr/share/fonts tere are 3 files named console8x16.pcf, console8x8.pcf and console9x15.pcf, but in the font list in Appearance->Fonts I can see only 2 - one named "Console" (seems to be 8x16 and "console" (8x8). File 9x15 does not appear at all. Why?
Last results of attempts: cannot use console font in part of areas, while part works OK. For example: kdevelop editor, kmail message body text works OK. But kmail other parts - does not. The most interesting is that although setting the kmail body message text to console displays the message body text correctly (with console font), but the example message in "Configure kmail" dialogue "The Quick Brown Fox Jumps Over The Lazy Dog" is displayed in the default font, as if there is no console font!
I have setup different identities in Kmail to deal with multiple gmail accounts so I have a different set of inbox, sent mail and draft folder for each account.In the message layout, I have chosen to display the columns - subject,sender/receiver and date. For one of my email accounts, kmail does the job perfectly. The inbox foler shows subject, sender and date, whereas the sent-mail folder shows subject, receiver and date. However, this order is not maintained for my other email accounts. The inbox folders show subject, sender and date(which is correct); the sent-mail folder shows subject, sender and date - instead of subject, receiver and date which is what should be displayed.
