When I right-click on the Slab menu of GNOME no configuring option appears. Neither when I open this menu left-clicking.
how to configure this Slab? For example to add/remove submenus or parts of it, view which application/folder its shortcuts point to, ...
How i can change the slab menu label? I don't like the label saying 'computer' because doesn't make any sense to me.

So many Recent Applications listed there.And I can't even make it to default by edit the GNOME Configuration Editor. View 1 Replies View Relatedkpilot worked just fine with my Palm Tungsten T3 on OpenSuse 10.3. I recently upgraded to 11.2 and have had numerous problems. It took me a while to get the hardware talking (documented in another thread), but now the sync is proving to be problematic. A hotsync happens - and I can also sync fully with jpilot, but the sync isn't going anywhere. I'm hoping to sync with kontact, but it's impossible to tell as kpilot hangs whenever I try to configure the conduits through the "Configure kpilot" menu item. When syncing, the log complains of missing conduits:

I've just installed the latest OpenSUSE 11.3 Gnome 3 Reload [and in so doing, by the way, replaced two other oses one advertised as something else but turned out to be what I regard as a poor imitatian of OpenSUSE 11.3 (and to add insult to injury it even identified itself as OpenSUSE 11.3 after install!) and the other a Linux distro more popular than OpenSUSE but failing to deliver a working Gnome 3 shell].
Which brings me to the subject at hand: Gnome 3 shell. I'm presently using the Gnome 3 panel (which I got after having to select the failsafe option after rebooting). OpenSUSE's Gnome 3 shell display is all jumbled up to the point of being unusable. Although I couldn't make out any legible print in the terminal (most of the Applications icons are recogniseable if rather tattered-looking), I had hoped I could still type in su>enter>password>enter>nvidia-xconfig>enter.
What do I do now to get a screenshot-like Gnome 3 shell display? I realize that this computer is rather resource-shabby, but I figure that if it'll run MintMenu, it should be able to run any other Gnome shell.
I installed Wine and several menu entries were created in my GNOME applications menu. However, when I went to change the menu items later, (Through [Edit Menus]), the Wine Menu folder was replaced with the 'Other' folder, and the layout of the Wine Menu was destroyed.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSince the latest update the gnome main menu quits unexpectedly whenever I try to select any funtion e.g. shutdown. In addition the network manager does not show up and does not configure the network (wireless). This behavior is since the latest update last week. Has anybody seen this as well? How can I revert to the previous state?
For no known reason there are a few subdirectories added to my Gnome - Locations - menu.
Both the traditional panel menu and the new - computer - menu
In the - computer - menu there is a option to remove items but this does not work.
Is there any way to remove those subdirectories from the menu list. Or/and where can I find that list to edit this manually. (Menueditor alacarte does not edit locations and system). (Suse 11.1)
It is possible to install this kind of menu on suse? I watched several movies on yt and it seems to be nice usability improvement comparing to standard OS menu - clean,simple, accessible.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a clean install of openSUSE 11.4 64 bit using gnome as the desktop manager. When selecting applications from the gnome menu, randomly the application will appear to not launch. However, if I click anywhere in left, upper portion of my desktop it becomes obvious that the application has launched and is not visible. For example, yast will not appear but clicking in that portion of my desktop causes various windows to appear that correspond to the different options in the yast home screen.

Right click on applications will let you hide an entry, not modify it. Right clicking on the suse computer menu won't even allow that. If I could find the file(s) which hold the actual data I could modify as required, but where are they?

I finally figured out that a .desktop file needed to be made in /usr/share/applications, but I can't get the icon to show up. For the "Icon" field in the .desktop file,tried giving an absolute path to an icon in my home folder, and I also tried putting the icon in all the folders under /usr/share/icons and just putting "eclipse" (the icon file name) as the valueI had copied this last from some of the existing .desktop files that worked, but still had no luck. Does anyone know how to do this?

I dont use openSuse's Slab menu, instead I use Gnome Main Menu and everything looks perfact except when I click on Places->Search for Files, instead of opening a file search dialog box it opens the resultbox.It seems opensuse messed up this because of Slab Search functionality

Is there a way to add or configure this to the current gnome desktop? All I currently get is an outline to tell me if something is there, but I don't get to see what it is.
