OpenSUSE :: PHP Not Working. Help \ Manually Configure It?

Aug 10, 2011

I'm supposed to migrate a website I'm working on from Windows to Linux, so I downloaded the whole site from its webserver to my Linux enviroment, but, although everything work perfectly under Windows, on Linux all the scripts just won't load, and I ain't got no idea of what could be the problem causing this - but I had installed phpMyAdmin and it worked fine. I'm using Apache 2.0 (2.2.17-4.5.1), PHP5 Module for Apache (5.3.5-5.14.1) and MySQL (5.1.53-4.7.1) under openSUSE 11.4 x86_64. Oh, I had the same problem when trying to load the page under Mandriva 2010.

So I tried to reinstall Apache as well as PHP and phpMyAdmin following the instructions in here step by step, but, after reinstalling these not even phpMyAdmin is working anymore, and if I call a(ny) php page from localhost in the browser, a download window pops up, which means Apache doesn't recognise the php ile as a script to be executed by php machine, or something like that.Looking at httpd.conf (apache configuration file) I noticed there's no reference to php module. I tried to manually configure it, but it seems there's also no libphp5.so in my computer (tried to find it using dolphin's search feature)... I guess I'll have to unninstall everything php related and then try to compile PHP from source and just thinking of that already gives me headaches

Programming :: Configure Cpu Interrupts Manually?

Dec 17, 2010

I was installing freebds for one of my friends and during the entire install the top never crossed 1.0. When I install linux top always shows a cpu load of more than 1.0.Also on the bsd when copying a huge file (4gb) it takes a long time but then the load never goes beyond 1.0. Linux will do it much faster but then there is a difference in the cpu load time. What I want to know is is there anyway I can interupt the processor so that the load does not go beyond 1.0.

Ubuntu :: Manually Configure Second Monitor For Xorg?

Oct 20, 2010

I just installed the new Ubuntu onto my laptop and want to use a second monitor with it in twinview.

I have to use the Nvidia X Server Settings and while I can get the second monitor working, I cant get any resolutions higher than 1024x768. But I know for a fact that I can get better resolutions as I used to use that monitor as my primary. I had to manually change my xorg.conf tho.

How do I change my xorg for the secondary monitor? if I add a new monitor and screen sections it breaks X and it sends me to teminal on boot.

heres what I tried The stuff I added is in bold:

Code:
# nvidia-settings: X configuration file generated by nvidia-settings
# nvidia-settings: version 260.19.06 (buildd@yellow) Mon Oct 4 15:59:51 UTC 2010

I installed the software Ubuntu Tweak yesterday and I was satisfied of how it worked. today, surfing the internet I was hoping to find a solution to a couple of problems that I have: the computer sometimes get stuck when opening videos or photos - I can't see streaming TV. when the internet browser was asking me to install plug-in in order to show the videos I tried to install them but errors occurred.

OpenSUSE Install :: Booting From USB Manually?

Nov 23, 2010

I am not the most computer savy, so bear with me. I have opensuse installed on my usb hard drive and recently had a windows crash that caused me to lose my opensuse boot menu/grub. Before the crash I had to have the usb drive plugged in in order to boot to windows or opensuse or I would get an error at startup....... I would like to avoid this. Is there anyway to make it so that when I turn on my computer It boots directly to windows, and if I want to go to opensuse then I can plug in my usb drive and manually boot to usb from my boot menu? I would run these two together on my computer but I share this computer and having to have my usb drive plugged in all the time kind of made them mad. So I guess my question is two fold..... Is this possible? And if so can I go into my hard drive through windows and place something in there to allow me to boot to it since my grub is back to the origional windows boot or do I need to use a live cd to access opensuse and do it that way?.

My upstream DNS server is a bit slow, so I've installed the dnsmasq cacher locally. I have the service starting on runlevels 2, 3, and 5. But I can tell by Firefox's behavior that dnsmasq does not work upon boot. Firefox lets its own DNS cache expire after 60 seconds. When I do my second Google search five minutes after my first, the second DNS lookup for www.google.com is just as slow as the first. If I manually restart the dnsmasq service, I get the fast name resolutions I expect.

For windows 7 it just runs the mbr on the drive windows 7 is on. However I can not get it to do that on the other linux drive. The problem for me is that on every kernel upgrade I have to manually change the info. I would rather have grub on the sdd linux disk take care of it on the upgrades. The drive that holds the other linux versions is sdd. Opensuse is on sdc.

OpenSUSE Network :: 11.3 With LXDE: Manually Defined Ports Are Not Getting Through The Firewall?

Yast was used to open udp 8080 and tcp 8080 in the firewall by manual entry under the advanced button of 'allowed services' menu.Another system was used to access the tomcat server via a firefox webbrowser. The attempt was unsuccessful. The url used was [URL]. firefox webbrowser keeps showing'connecting ...' until timeout. I'm assuming that inspite of the specified port openings in the firewall, it is somehow ignored. If I were to disable the firewall, then I can access the tomcat server with the firefox webbrowser.

OpenSUSE :: Configure / Syncing The Conduits Through The "Configure Kpilot" Menu Item

Feb 8, 2010

kpilot worked just fine with my Palm Tungsten T3 on OpenSuse 10.3. I recently upgraded to 11.2 and have had numerous problems. It took me a while to get the hardware talking (documented in another thread), but now the sync is proving to be problematic. A hotsync happens - and I can also sync fully with jpilot, but the sync isn't going anywhere. I'm hoping to sync with kontact, but it's impossible to tell as kpilot hangs whenever I try to configure the conduits through the "Configure kpilot" menu item. When syncing, the log complains of missing conduits:

Version: KPilot 5.3.0 (KDE 4.3.0)
Version: pilot-link 0.12.3
