OpenSUSE Wireless :: Wirless Sometimes Doesn't Connect?

Have an issue with my wireless.It sometimes doesn't connect to my wireless. And sometimes when it does it gives me an invalid IP address.I have a lenovo SL400 Laptop.Intel 802.11agn wireless is my adaptor. And I have OpenSuse 11.4 with gnome. I works fine if I give it a static IP Address but that will create an issue with other computers on the network.Is my desktop environment (GNOME) or is my Wireless adpator not compatible with opensuse.
When I try to connect to the internet wirelessly with Fedora 14 it tells that the wirless firmware is missing. Is there anywayI can fix this or find the firmware for a Dell Wireless 1379 Wlan mini-chip? The Chipset is BCM4315Also my computer is a Dell Inspiron 1545
am finding it very hard to get a wireless connection working, I am using openSUSE 10.3 (i586)and I have a Edimax EW-7711UTn USB adaptor, I have tried to follow the instructions on this forum and I think I have set it up using YaST2 but I still can not connect to the internet.
at start, knetworkmanager detect wireless network, but doesn't automatically connect - I have to restart it to make it work properly. Instead, it gives that error:
I have just installed ubuntu from the ubuntu website for my laptop. Its great. Whatever i read or do though i cannot connect wirless to my bt home hub.
Ive been having some troubles with wireless. Ethernet works but wirless (at first) doesn't work. However, when i plug the ethernet in, all the wireless networks it detects are populated and i can then connect until i shutdown my computer.My disable internet button on my computer also doesn't seem to work well. It is always blue, and when i press it and have internet connection estabsliehd, it erratically turns from blue to orange to blue and then stays on blue.
When i have shutdown and booted up and i haven't placed ethernet in (so wireless doesn't work) it wont even change color.Any solutions? I dont know what info to include so just let me know and when the wireless does it work, it is slow in opening a new tab and connecting to google.
I am appealing to the minds far greater than mine.. I have been using this forum with resounding success without having to post for some time, and I am more than impressed with what you can resolve by simply trawling through the archives, on this occasion however, I'm stumped.
I have a desktop upstairs in my home running 10.10, I have a Ralink Wirless LAN dongle RTL8188CUS with a mini CD with all the drivers etc. Now, when I physically install the dongle Ubuntu does not firstly even acknowledge it's existence, so, I unpack the CD Lynx dir and there seems to be no way to install it? I can't see a code to run in terminal to install.. nothing?
I am running Ubuntu 10.10 Netbook Remix on a Toshiba Netbook NB300. After performing an upgrade I find myself unable to connect to my wirless network and have lost the wifi icon in the task bar. Ethernet connectivity is however working.

I need to take to bring back wireless connectivity to my netbook and restore the wifi icon to the task bar.
I have cross posted as it is not really a wireless network problem (wireless networking works fine) but a wireless security problem (WEP and WPA security kill wireless networking).I am not total sure which forums it should be in.From original post in networking and wireless forum:I am having a heap of issues with wireless and hopefully the following will help someone out there in guru land help me fix this problem.It seems to be more then a simple computer to wireless security problem. I volunteer my various machines and time to try and fault find the issue on all machines to help the developers to fix this problem on mine and I can document everything. Hopefully this will help someone fix wireless security on Linux once and for all.
I facing a really annoying problem. I download regularly during the night using Wifi. The problem is that because I'm away, the wireless just disconnects and the pop window shows up asking me to into the password. The password is already saved in the windows so I just have to click 'connect'ut I don't understand why does it disconnect and when it tries to connect it asks for password again!y doesn't it simply 'try' to connect without asking the password when it is already saved.
I have a dell d800 laptop using a hp 802abg nic and it doesn't properly initialize until gnome desktop is loadedI'm using 128 bit key and a hidden network name.I would like to have wireless networking running before /etc/rc.local is executed at boot time to connect to nfs shares.after gnome is loaded and I login to user account, wireless networking starts and connects.When I set inittab to 3 and boot machine, ifconfig and iwcfg report card doesn't exist, when I then telinit 5 and start x/gnome card gets properly setupis it possible the card doesn't get initialize3ed because the network key needs to be entered in a file somewhere that the boot sequence can access it and init the card properly?
I bought a Letux 400 mini netbook and it works fine except for wireless Ethernet. It finds wireless networks, including mine, and then pretends to connect, after asking for a password, but finally never connects. I tried reconfiguring the wireless network from g to b/g and finally to b only, but nothing changed. Cable connection works. Unfortunately all relevant Letux Web pages are hopelessly slow and certainly too slow to use the forum and ask questions there. why the thing doesn't connect and how to make it connect? If it recognises networks, shouldn't it be able to connect as well?
so my wireless isn't working. My netbook wireless detects the available networks but when I try to connect it doesn't. The box that asks me to put in the password occasionally shows up but it still doesn't load. I even tried re-installing Ubuntu and didn't fix anything.I'm using kernel version 2.6.35-22-generic and
i'm experiencing some weird behaviour: I have a server running ubuntu 10.04 and two Apple laptops in my home network. Sometimes after booting up the server doesn't connect to the wireless network, but instead "kills" the connection of the laptops. (The network then isn't available for about two minutes - it's showing but it can't connect) On the server the network interface is up, but not associated.
Sometimes the interface isn't configured properly (iwconfig isn't showing an entry) - but in this case the behaviour obviously isn't showing. some information about my system:

I've just literally gone out this morning and bought the Belkin N300 Dual Band USB for my Deskstation running Maverick Meerkat. At first i put the stick in and nothing happened. So i went to System>admin>Windows wireless drivers and clicked on there. I put the CD in the drive that came with the dongle and found the drivers folder on the disk. I then installed the .inf file in the XP folder. It connected straight away as easy as that.
I'm really frustrated though as it loses conectivity and then asks me for my WAP password on connection, but then doesn't seem to connect. I unplug the dongle and then hit connect again and it connects.
If i use the same dongle on XP i have no problems what so ever, so i know its not a signal strength issue.
Sorry for repeating the same old complaint but there doesn't seem to be a common fix: Wireless does not work on my Presario R3000 although SUSE 11.x lists the hardware in the Hardware Information list and the hardware is turned on. Network Manager doesn't display any wireless networks in SUSE while Win 7 can see 4 of them on the same machine. Ubuntu has no problem either
when it comes to openSUSE but I am earnestly trying. I installed the openSUSE OS on my HP dv6000 laptop, but it does not seem to recognize my wireless card (which is a Broadcom 4311).
I installed opensuse 11.3 succesfully on my acer aspire 5670 (5672) laptop. Everything works except wireless connection. On Opensuse 11.2, I would like to connect my ipod touch to a wireless ad-hoc network of my laptop. I have no wireless WIFI-router at home, so I have to use the laptop as a router to the internet. I know I have to enter a static IP adres and my router's address, but where ? I haven't found any place under network tools to do this, only saw some fields with SSID's and MAC addresses to fill in.
I clicked "Network Settings", and I found that the ip address was wrong, which is "192.168.1.10/24", and netmask field is empty, so I modifed the configuration file located in /etc/sysconfig/network, named ifcfg-wlan0, added one line(NETMASK= '255.255.255.0'), saved it and reboot the system. After rebooting the system, I still found the ip address is wrong and netmask field is empty, so I have to use ifup command to activate my card manually every time the system starts.
I just upgraded and then re-downgraded kde and wireless has stopped connecting (it still seems to be working, just not the way it should). Here's some info:
I can connect to my wireless router while logged in as root, but not under my user account. I went into YAST and the user maintenance area and gave myself every permission (Add, Edit, Delete Users or Accounts), but kde network maanger will not allow me to connect to my router.

I have loaded the latest version of opensuse and I have everything working but I cannot connect to my wireless WPA2 network. I have downloaded the bcm43xx firmware using the method /usr/sbin/install_bcm43xx_firmware I then restarted the network. The computer will now read the network card and will find networks but I cannot get it to connect at all. At first it would connect using ifup in yast but would disconnect after a few seconds. It would never connect through NM. I have a usb network card that works just fine. I am lost as to how to fix this problem.
I am using an HP G60 laptop with a built in wireless NIC but am unable to get the wireless connection working. I have followed the advice in the sticky messages above and have included the information below. I know the wireless modem is working as I have got a spare USB wireless dongle running on the desktop (ironically - I can only get it working where it is not needed!!!). The same dongle will not work on the laptop. So it is a config thing and not a hardware issue On a trivial level, left clicking on the Network Manager icon shows the "enable wireless" greyed out. I recently bought Dell Studio 15 laptop, installed OpenSUSE11.2/64 in addition to Win7 64 bit. I am trying to connect it to my wireless network at home and at work, but without much luck.
1)Found out that Dell 1520 WLAN adapter has Broadcom 4353 chipset. 2)saw that b43-fwcutter installed 3)installed broadcom-wl and broadcom-wl-kmp-desktop
After that can see many wireless Access Points at home,selected one via NetworkManager (eth1), configured it (incl. security same as in Win7), it goes from Activating to Active, but I still can not connect - I mean, in the FireFox - "page not found"
