Ubuntu Networking :: Booting Up The Server Doesn't Connect To The Wireless Network?

Oct 5, 2010

i'm experiencing some weird behaviour: I have a server running ubuntu 10.04 and two Apple laptops in my home network. Sometimes after booting up the server doesn't connect to the wireless network, but instead "kills" the connection of the laptops. (The network then isn't available for about two minutes - it's showing but it can't connect) On the server the network interface is up, but not associated.

Sometimes the interface isn't configured properly (iwconfig isn't showing an entry) - but in this case the behaviour obviously isn't showing. some information about my system:

Ubuntu Version: Server 10.04x64
Wireless Card: Netgear WG311v3 with marvell chipset
Driver: ndiswrapper+mrv8335x64

Fedora Networking :: Wireless With Inspiron 1501 Bcm4311 Rev01 / Trying To Connect To A Hidden Wireless Network?

May 5, 2009

I am having a little trouble connecting to my wireless network. Running Fedora 10 32 bit.I'm trying to connect to a hidden wireless network. I updated the firmware for my driver but apparantly the driver is still not working. Broadcom has a driver from their website for Linux 32 bit systems. Should I attempt to install it? I read a post where the driver is built into the system kernel. If so I would need to blacklist the one of the drivers. Correct?

Ubuntu Networking :: Belkin N300 Keeps Asking For Wireless Password And Doesn't Connect?

Mar 9, 2011

I've just literally gone out this morning and bought the Belkin N300 Dual Band USB for my Deskstation running Maverick Meerkat. At first i put the stick in and nothing happened. So i went to System>admin>Windows wireless drivers and clicked on there. I put the CD in the drive that came with the dongle and found the drivers folder on the disk. I then installed the .inf file in the XP folder. It connected straight away as easy as that.

I'm really frustrated though as it loses conectivity and then asks me for my WAP password on connection, but then doesn't seem to connect. I unplug the dongle and then hit connect again and it connects.

If i use the same dongle on XP i have no problems what so ever, so i know its not a signal strength issue.

Ubuntu Networking :: Network Doesn't Auto-connect At Startup

Jan 5, 2010

I have a Broadcom 4312 wireless chip. I have use the STA drivers that Ubuntu recommends. I can connect quite easily just by clicking on the icon, so this is more than a niggle than a problem.

My network isn't protected as we live in the middle of nowhere (quite literally) and network theft isn't a problem. We also run a self-catering cottage, and let guests have free access to our network anyway, so it is easier for guests to access our network without me having to give them all the key. When I did use wpa, it would start itself up with the laptop, so I kind of know that this might be the cause. Is there any way I can fix it without encrypting the network?

Ubuntu Networking :: WLAN Doesn't Find A Network To Connect?

Dec 11, 2010

recently I risked a look to the Linux world and I'm happy so far, but now I've got a Problem, I'm unable to solve by myself. I installed Mint (Julia) on my old Laptop to test Linux. The Laptop has a very old PCMCIA WLAN Card with a Realtek rtl8180 chipset. Everything seems to run perfectly so far with one exception: the WLAN doesn't find any Network to connect although the card and the driver seem to be installed correctly.

Here some code from the terminal:

I'm having a little issue here with my laptop. I've installed Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick/Meerckat on my Lenovo Thinkpad T61p about 3 hours ago and it can't seem to connect to the wireless network... I've had the same problem when I moved from Windows to Ubuntu on my desktop but I've been able to fix it completely. The thing is I can't remember how I fixed it :S So, I updated my system, downloaded the additional drivers. Also, I cna connect to the ethernet network. To fix my desktop, I used some command lines that someone posted in a thread about the wireless keeping disconnecting... I just can't find that post though :S What I remember about the post was that there was someone who had posted a thing with like a parabolic thing around he wireless adapter (LOL)

Ubuntu Networking :: 11.04 - Can See Wireless Network But Can't Connect

May 7, 2011

Earlier in the week, I installed 10.10, but had awful problems trying to get the wireless networking working. Upgraded to 11.04, and wireless is sort of working. However, I am unable to connect to my wireless network. It sees the network, but just keeps asking me for the password. I enter this (I have checked that it is correct), but it just prompts again, after a little while. Networking through network cable works fine.

Wireless network is set up to use WPA-PSK + WPA2-PSK. I have checked, and I do have wpa_supplicant loaded.

Code:
Machine: Compaq Presario R3000 (R3363EA)
