I am loading a CD with a video on it. Nothing happens. The device notifier does not even do anything. I have tried several things with the device notifier or CD player but no luck at all.
OpenSuse 11.3, KDC 4.5.2, Dell Latitude E4300, Linux 2.6.34.7-0.4-desktop x86_64
I want to watch a certain video on [url]...., but I get an error message instead. Some videos can be played, so I'm thinking it's a form of restriction, but I can't be sure.I tried using a few proxies, but on some the error message persists and on others the video doesn't load. I'm running Ubuntu 9.10 and Firefox 3.5.8.

My doubt is will it improve the bandwidth of path? or I need connect different socket?
Finally went open source at home, but must be able to load QB to work with data files already for me to load into program. Will my system at home allow me to load QB Pro Premier 2009? Or alternative apps that will let me load and work with the data?

I wanted to install an entirely clean version of kmail, so I uninstalled/re-installed kmail via YAST. I manually deleted ~/.kde4/share/apps/kmail. After installing kmail I found that the account data of my Yahoo account were still listed in the kmail configuration panel. Shall I delete the Yahoo account within kmail prior to uninstalling the kmail package?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am completely stumped. Found my web server (lighttpd) unresponsive this morning and had to hard cycle it. After some cleaning up, all was happy. However, after about an hour of handling a decent amount of web traffic, time freezes as far as the web server is concerned. I've got an hour of access.log data with the following date: [23/Aug/2010:20:42:58 -0500]
It never changes. The load average now reads 0.00 0.00 0.00 (which is totally inaccurate). And I am not able to successfully log in remotely. I have taken the server down 3 or 4 times today and after an hour or so of functioning normally, this is what happens. Additionally, the local time is now off by 30 minutes.Trying to force with ntpdate does nothing (or, at the very least, sets it to the same incorrect time)
Windows computer continually generates images (AutoGrabnnn). All downstream analysis on linux computer. I need analog of rsync bringing files over as they arise. rdesktop seems to be the approach. Is this already described somewhere to bypass much trial-and-error?

I already modified my preferences that thumbnails would always load, and set that files smaller 4GB will load. Only the generic video thumbnails load. I already tried deleting the files in ~/.thumbnails/fail/gnome-thumbnail-factory/ but still problem exists.

There happens to be several static and global variables in this shared object library. Hence it is not possible to process two interleaved unrelated media streams using this shared object codec library because each stream corrupts/changes the contents of these static/global variables.
Is there a way through which a context save (save contents of data segment of shared object) and a context load (load previously saved contents of data segment of shared object)operation can be performed on the shared object library. This way the context for each media stream can be saved and loaded before and after processing the "other" media stream respectively.
i just encoded a mkv file and i noticed that once i remove the .mkv from the file name ubuntu no longer knows how to open the file. i have removed the .extension from my other video files and ubuntu plays it just find so im thinking there is no meta data for my newly encoded mkv file. how do i add meta data for my video file? i have mkvmerge installed but have no clue how to use it also i have avidemux installed can i use either of those programs?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to find out which application will copy DVD discs (video and data) in raw mode. Something that works for DVDs like cdrdao works for CDs. I tried using cdrdao but it errors out because the DVD disc is too big for it. I tried looking at Brasero but I can't tell if it offers a raw option. I see that Brasero lets you copy a DVD to a RAW image, then burn the RAW image back to a DVD-R. If Brasero uses RAW mode to do a direct copy, this would essentially do the same thing, but I can't tell if that is what it does. But, I think this will work.

I have a problem with Plymouth. It works pretty well on low res, but on higher resolution some strange video artefacts appear - see attachments.
I use ATI proprietary drivers, if it has something to do with it.
The resolution is set in /etc/default/grub like this:

I don't know whether it has anything to do with the current problem, but Plymouth used not to appear at all until I followed these instructions (or actually I took them from another thread but I can't find it at the moment and these are the same).
I don't know whether it's possible to take them during booting so I've taken these photos with a mobile and retouched in gimp to remove reflections (more or less), and since I'm no pro photographer nor photoshop/gimp master they look as they look. They should do to demonstrate the problem, though.

* playback in VLC does not work -- there is only sound
* playback in SMplayer works, however -- when I scroll forward, the video freezes and sound continues, to unfreeze video I have scroll a tiny bit backward
I tried changing the video ouput driver (in SMplayer) from xv to xv/noveu-nvidia, it didn't help. Please note, that I use the same settings (initially) as before in OS11.1.
I am trying to install Fedora 12 using the x86-64 DVD. My problem is everytime I try to install with the normal settings or basic video deriver setting it says "X failed to load" and so Anaconda never loads. How do i fix this problem. I have an Nvidia 7800GTX.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to diagnose a weird problem ... maybe someone has an idea where to start. I'm having a problem with flash videos. The video part displays as if the fast-forward button is being held down; audio sounds correct.
I'm thinking "synchronization error" (duh!) but I'm not sure how to start to diagnose the issue. I'm running OpenSUSE 11.4 x64, and the problem shows up in both chrome and opera.
I am unable to load the GUI in opensuse 11.1. When booting I get the normal opensuse loading screen but about half way through the screen goes black. If I hit alt-f1 I can see the start up info. The problems looks like when it tries to load gdm. It shows a couple of Warnings saying "GdmDisplay: display lasted .8135.. seconds. The findal warning says "GdmLocalDisplayFactory: maximum number of X display failures reached: check X server log for errors." I did do a couple of updates yesterday before shutting down but am not sure what they were.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI installed 11.2 from the live install, choosing Gnome. I ran the updates, then uninstalled several pieces of software that came pre-loaded. Then I noticed that the menu Gnome editor didn't work all of a sudden. I noticed that the "desktop background" right-click didn't bring up the appearance preferences dialog. Then I couldn't add anything to the panel. I never logged in as root or anything like this, or did anything other than install updates/uninstall a few applications (Evolution, etc) So, I rebooted.Then, instead of getting into Gnome, IceWM login screen loaded. Then IceWM. I guess this is a fail-safe in case the DE doesn't load

If one goes to start open office suite, writer, calc, etc. You get the open office splash screen with suse and the meter gets almost completely loaded (probable 99%) then it just stalls. Within a minute or two the screen disappears and no open office. Any ideas It was a fresh install and I haven't added anything other than multimedia packages and KDE base/apps. All other apps. load fine. Should I remove OOO and then add it again?
View 4 Replies View RelatedAfter installing QtCurve 1.8-41 from software.opensuse (I've been playing around with themes), whenever I try to boot my computer, it gets to stage 1 of loading (the less colorful splash screen), and about halfway through loading that, the screen goes black and a box in the top left corner says: "Could not start kdeinit4. Check your installation". I'm then taken to failsafe, where I login. When I try to run kdeinit4 from the command line, I get this error:
kdeinit 4: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libQtSvg.so.4: undefined symbol: _ZN14QObjectPrivate15checkWindowRoleEv.
I've tried uninstalling through zypper, but it can never find the package I specify. I'm on 11.3.
I have downloaded FireFox 4 RC (wow - fast!) and have a Flashplayer issue - the FarmVille game which uses the FlashPlayer does not load - the message was:

Please do so by clicking here I did just that - usually Adobe website will tell you if your FlashPlayer is already up to date for the browser you access with it, OR, give you the option to update (which I did in my case) - but after updating, it still does not bring FarmVille up, and I get the same message, click the Adobe Link, and offers me to update it again.
Anyone know a workaround - because the new Firefox has the speed like Google Chrome does, and FireFox has been my favorite for years, but I have resorted to using Google Chrome for the past several months due to its speed (I have only 1 MB DSL download speed, and it seems that FarmVille is better with such speed).
I'm using openSUSE 11.4 KDE.
