OpenSUSE Network :: YaST2 Exposes Apache HTTPD Error Log

Nov 14, 2010

I am unable to examine Apache httpd error log from YaST2 because the lines are too long; the browser just truncates them and thus it does not show any description. The only option is to save it. However, when I chose that option, YaST2 encourages me to save it in /tmp, and as soon as I do that, the log becomes accessible to every user!

OpenSUSE Network :: Apache And Tomcat Services - HTTPD Door

Jun 16, 2010

I have both apache and tomcat services running, both in their standard doors (tomcat 8080, httpd 80). I need to setup tomcat to run on door 80 instead of httpd. I changed httpd door with success to 8180. Now I want to change tomcat6 door to 80, and I did that by editing server.xml config file of tomcat. After restarting tomcat, the system tells me it's ok, but I can see that it's not running on 80, nor at any other door. A simple nmap search confirm that. What should I do to have tomcat running in door 80?

OpenSUSE Network :: Error From Yast2 HTTP Server - Hostname Not Valid

Nov 6, 2010

I've been running a SuseStudio-built VM for a few weeks with no issues. I built a new one recently, and now I can't configure a new vhost in Apache using the http-server module. It gives me this error. Screen shot 2010-11-06 at 11.42.24 AM.png. Why YaST suddenly decided that my hostnames aren't valid?

Server :: Accessing Apache/HTTPD In Home Network?

Feb 7, 2010

I am trying to setup Fedira 12 Linux Apache in my home network. I am able to access the hosted website from inside my home network without any problem. I am facing the problem to access it from outside. At the moment i have connected the Apache directly to DSL modem for testing purpose. I was reading "The ISP may have blocked the HTTP port 80. So check it by connecting the Apache directly to DSL modem." The temporary network connections for testing purpose are as follows..

DSL modem (SIEMENS Speed Stream 4200)-->Fedora 12/Linux Apache Server

I am even unable to PING the real ip (IP for DSL modem).(Firefox gave me error message "Connection Timed out) I have tried to ping it from the internet.I can PING the DSL from Apache without any problem.

1. Why i am even unable to PING the real IP of DSL modem at my home.?

2. Is it possible to run/setup Apache by using this type of DSL modem?

3. DSL modem has real IP. DSL MODEM assigns private IP (192.168.x.x) to Apache. So when a http request form the internet came to DSL modem on port 80, will it forward to Apache automatically.? or i have to made any changes.(I can not see anything in DSL modem to change/modify), OR do I have to use another DSL MODEM/Equipment (router)? This setup is just temporary. The actual design is as follows

DSL MODEM(Speed Stream 4200)-->Fedora 12 Linux ROUTER--->Internal network with DNS/Apache Server

OpenSUSE Install :: Yast2 - Bash Apache Command Not Found

May 3, 2011

I ssh to a remote server which is running in SUSE. And I want to install apache2.0 there. Then I used yast2 to install it. But after installing it, I go to the terminal and type" apache -version" to check if apache is installed there. And it said "-bash: apache: command not found". I don't if I haven't successfully installed it, or I have installed it but just haven't put it into PATH yet. So, my problem is that can anyone tell how to check if I have installed it? If I have installed it, then what is the path of the directory it locates? And if I haven't probably installed it, then can you tell me the how I can installed it? And I am asked to install apache mod_wsgi as well.

OpenSUSE Network :: Yast2 Does Not Recognize Squid3?

Mar 17, 2010

New to opensuse, trying to set up cache proxy and webfilter at a highschool. I have a new install of opensuse11.2 64bit installed as server. Installed squid3 stable. Trying to configure it in yast2. Now in yast2-->networkservices-->squid I get the message squid needs to be installed, continuing with Next I get message unresolved dependencies then another that squid3 conflicts with squid-2.7. Solutions offered are deinstall squid3 or don't install squid-2. I select the latter and get messages that yast might not function etc. Isn't squid3 the newer version of squid-2? Should yast2 recognize that?

OpenSUSE Network :: Yast2 Nukes APACHE_SERVER_FLAGS - Configure WWW To Use SSL

Nov 25, 2010

Steps to reproduce: Tell Yast2 to configure WWW to use SSL. Tell Yast2 to set APACHE_SERVER_FLAGS in sysconfig:WWW to SSL TRAC_WSGI. Tell Yast2 to configure WWW. Yast2 will notify you about unsupported configuration changes. Tell Yast2 to exit saving changes. Tell Yast2 to examine APACHE_SERVER_FLAGS in sysconfig. Observe how the value is back to SSL. As a result, whatever you tell Yast2 to do to WWW, you have to fix sysconfig thereafter. Not funny.

OpenSUSE Network :: Yast2 Software Updates And IPV6

Apr 5, 2011

IPV6 gets more and more interesting. YAST is failing to connect to the repositories. I have disabled ipv6 in several ways but none of them work or YAST (also Konqueror) seems to do it's own thing. I have managed to get Firefox to work see my "slow internet seems to be down to dns post" made earlier today. So as a check on the YAST problem I loaded each of the repository addresses into Firefox and lo they all connect without any problem at all. So it seems that the YAST problem is down to IPV6

In order to disable ipv6 I initially added ipv6.disable=1 to the end of all of the bootloader APPENDS. More recently following up further info on here I added a couple of lines to
/etc/modprobe.d/99-local.conf. These were:
alias net-pf-10 off
alias ipv6 off
This doesn't work either.

Maybe of use to others - It seems it's possible to see if IPV6 is active by typing the following into the command line:
ip a | grep inet6
I'm told if it is active lines will be output? So just what do I do to disable it in YAST and I hope in Konqueror too? It's beginning to look like it is enabled or disabled at the app level according to the Firefox fix.

OpenSUSE Network :: OpenSuse 11.3, Bind And Yast2-dns-server?

Sep 23, 2010

I have to wonder how much testing Opensuse has done with yast-dns-server package. After adding zones to the dns server - the system loses the ability to perform name resolutions. I can copy a named.conf file from a system that does work, except everytime the system is restart the named.conf file is rewritten trashing the updates done and again rendering the system to perform name resolutions.

Anyone have suggestions on how to get yast-dns-server from interferring with the configuration file? I tried just uninstalling the package, but then bind doesn't even start up on boot up.

OpenSUSE Install :: Error Messages For All Options In Yast2

Mar 13, 2011

Yesterday, after I reinstall suse linux enterprise 11 in my note book. I got some error messages. They are :
From Suse linux installing processedacroread-9.3.2-0.1.1.i586.rpm
yast2-pkg-bindings-2.17.45-0.2.10.i586.rpm
After installed suse linux.
error messages for all options in yast2.

The story is when I started installing suse linux, I checked first the live cd and I got message that live cd is okay. But, when the installation process was running, I got 2 messages error. But, the messages were informing me to verified from software management module.

So, my questions are :What are acroread-9.3.2-0.1.1.i586.rpm and yast2-pkg-bindings-2.17.45-0.2.10.i586.rpm and what are they fungtions? If my guess is not wrong, acroread means acrobat reader. Is it true? Where is others place I can download them (no.1,2,3) beside the live cd? Or, if the easyest way is live cd. As yast2 got error, is there an other way I can installed them (no.1,2,3)?

OpenSUSE :: Yast2 - Software Mgmt Parsing Error On Start

Mar 31, 2010

I haven't been able to locate this cause. The problem developed as follows:

1. Used a downloaded .ymp file to add a community package, chose NOT to add the repo permanently from the Customize button... installation of package failed.
2. Added the repo manually in Yast Software Repositories and it went thru the process without error, BUT the repo never appeared in the list. (this is where i think the problem lies)
3. Tried to add the package using .ymp package without blocking the new repo addition... package installed successfully. Then deleted the repo using Yast Software Repositories gui.

Now starting Yast Software Management the process starts and downloads the repo.xml files from each enabled repo, then displays a error msg stating "Parsing Error". Dismiss and it loads the normal interface and seems to work properly from then on.

OpenSUSE Install :: Login (Could Not Start Kdeinit4) Yast2 Error

Sep 8, 2011

I am using opensuse 11.3. I am encountering a problem while trying to log in. The problem message was
"could not start kdeinit4. Check your installation"
I tried to solve this problem by following the instructions given in OpenSuSE 11.0 Could not start kdeinit4... i.e., I opened yast2 and then I had to select "software management" from there in order to update all the packages in kde4. But I got another error when I clicked it.

/usr/lib/YaST2/bin/y2base:/usr/local/lib/libstdc++.so.6: no version information available (required by /usr/lib/YaST2/plugin/libpy2wfm.so.2)

The error list continues. I cannot type whole error list ending with similar wordings as above as am using different computer. I tried to solve this one too by following the instructions in Relocation Error but I could not understand its line "...fixed the problem by taking /usr/local/lib out of ld.so.conf, and then running ldconfig" as am new to linux.

Server :: Can't Get On Internet / Apache Is Running / Httpd Is Not

Feb 11, 2011

I probably don't know just what to look for.I'm using the new Debian Squeeze, and was fooling around heavily with new software installations and modifications, and just noticed all of a sudden that I couldn't get on the internet - so I know I did something but don't know what.I can plug in a thumb drive with a bitnami joomla stack on it and run, " ~/tmp/joomla-1.6.0-0/./ctlscript.sh start "and that gets things going for the joomla stuff (apache, http, mysql, php), but that stuff is pretty self contained and does not effect the browser's attempt to reach the web.

Fedora Servers :: Apache Configuration And HTTPD Services

The problem surges here, when I start the httpd service, every supuse 404 action on a web browser, takes me to localhost. I mean, if I enter google.com, no error, just goes to localhost, http://asdasd, no error, gives back localhost. I used to ignore the problem 'cause I thought it was a problem on my apache, but when I installed the Server on the Fedora Core 6 machine, I found that I have the same problem there. Of course, it only occurs when I am browsing through the same machine that has httpd started. Does anyone know how to change that??

Ubuntu Networking :: Apache Error But Only Via Network

May 4, 2010

I have an Apache set up to server some static html and php files which all work fine. The php and statics include image links which fail, but only when accessed over a real network - if I connect to http://localhost or http://[myIP address] from the system itself, I get images just fine. The failure in Firefox is "The image http://blah-blah.png cannot be displayed because it contains errors" (any image, have used binary diff to ensure no copying errors)

Some details:
The system is running Ubuntu 10.4, with all the latest patches, and apache 2.2.14-5ubuntu8
Doing wget of a php/html file results in precisely the correct content being saved. Doing the same with the PNG I get the file, but it has approx 294 bytes of garbage before the <89>PNG, which includes the http header:

(binary stuff cut)HTTP/1.1 200 OK^M
Date: Tue, 04 May 2010 13:28:41 GMT^M

Content-Length: 4100^M
Keep-Alive: timeout=15, max=100^M
Connection: Keep-Alive^M
Content-Type: image/png^M

<89>PNG^M...

I have an Atheros Communications AR8131 Gigabit Ethernet controller using DHCP for network config. Everything else seems to be working exactly as expected. I re-iterate, if I connect from the system to it's own IP address. I have tried connecting from various clients including non-Linux ones, images get served with garbage up front I have no idea where to start debugging this (having worked out what is really happening).
