Trying to install the Novell iprint client but got the following error message:
My system specifications are as follows:
With OpenSUSE 10.3 iPrint was working. I was printing to a Novell iPrint-server and had no problems at all. Now i upgrade til OpenSUSE11.1 and now iPrint does not work at all. I downloaded the lates iPrint Client that was released 13.januar 2009 and tried to install. It claims i miss "libglitz.so.1". I searche for this file in Yast and find Glitz-i586 Installed it and now iPrint Client did install witout any errors. Now i try to install an iPrint-printer that have a Linux-driver attached. Firefox crash everytime i try to install this printer. I tried both as normal user and as root but with same result. I know the normal respons is "Novell doesnt support OpenSUSE but only SLED". I dont like SLED because its not near as good as OpenSUSE. SLED does not support any multimedia and i had several unresolveable problems with it. Novell develop Novell Client for OpenSUSE, so why not iPrint Client?

View 1 Replies View RelatedOpenSUSE is starting to drive me a bit nuts. Actually what I'm trying to do is simply install VMWare server on a recent as possible SUSE and run 2 virtual machines, both the same SUSE. Of course 11.2 32 bit doesn't run VMWare server 2 so it's back to 11.1. The trouble is, 11.1 won't install properly on my PC.
The install process, booted and installed from the 11.1 network install iso image on CD, runs fine. The PC reboots from hard disk and stops at the grub prompt. I've tried the auto-repair option and reinstalled it from scratch a second time always with the same results. It seems the root partition is hosed, and that's where my understanding hits its limits. Can anyone help?
Incidentally should anyone be able to advise on the VMWare conundrum I'd also be interested. Maybe in another thread...
Is there any way I can get the iPrint client running on fedora x86_64? I'm not interested in getting browser support (doesn't work anyway with version 4.38 - the only one my organization supports) I just want to be able to add a printer from the printer configuration dialogue.
Has anyone had any luck? The .rpm is for SuSE. It can't find the necessary dependencies of course. Is there any other way? Even if I force install the .rpm for SuSE, I dont' get any additional configuration for iprint in system-config-printer.
The putty connection is ok, FTP also. Apache is on. Could be something at the firewall?I am trying with the IP and a directory at lampp/htdocs.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIn openSuse I can connect to a wireless network. It says that it is connected, and I can open the router page (http://192.168.1.1/basic.html). But I cannot load any other pages. Nothing else recognizes internet either; I tried using konqueror, YAST and wget with the command line, and none of them could load anything. It is not a router problem or a wireless card problem because both Ubuntu and Kubuntu can connect, from the same computer. I know this is odd because in the only other thread I could find with this issue, it was a different distro and installing openSuse seemed to fix it.

Hi. I'm running the 64 bit OpenSuse 11.2 distro with Firefox 3.5.7 and the Novell mono plugin installed but still can't watch the olympics coverage on CTV.
Is there something else I also need to install?
I have an opensuse 11.3 install which I want to set up as a network boot server to install Solaris 10 on a Sun Ultra 10 client. According to what I've read, this requires rarpd and tftpd which I've set up on opensuse, but also bootparamd which I can't find for 11.3. It seems it was last included with opensuse 9.2. Does anyone know if it's available, if I could use the suse 9.2 version, or any alternative?

View 2 Replies View RelatedSo up until I updated from Opensuse 11.3 to 11.4, I hadn't any issues with my network connection. At least none worth mentioning. Once I installed 11.4, I've had weird issues with varying lengths of connection. Sometimes I can't connect anywhere, sometimes I can only get to the router, sometimes I'm 100%. I'd fiddle with YAST until everything worked. I honestly have no clue whether or not anything I did had any effect.
Enough of the iffy history, here's what's happening now. For the past few weeks up until last night, I have been at 100% connectivity. I never turned off my computer until last night (it just shut itself off, like the cord was unplugged. I dunno what happened, maybe it was my foot, maybe the PSU. I think it has happened before.). When I turned it back on, I was only able to connect as far as my router (192.168.1.1, a D-Link Gaming router that has always been very good to me). I could not make it to my modem (192.168.0.1, a Quest DSL modem. Once I can get here, then usually I'm good to go 100%).
I tried again this afternoon, and no change. I then get the crazy idea to unplug the ethernet cable from it's PCI-card home and return it to the onboard port (which I long ago declared defunct). Immediately after plugging it into that port, I ran "ping 192.168.0.1" and I started getting returns. I open up Firefox and try to load an external page, and nothing happens. I go back to the console that I was pinging from, and it had stopped. I start pinging my router, and no luck. What I conclude from my little experiment is that the router is not at fault.
1. It did not change at all between being at 100% and being at 0% after reboot.
2. I was able to get returns from the modem, past the router, for a brief period of time while using the defunct ethernet port.
Since I never had these problems before updating to 11.4, I'm inclined to believe that it was the update that started these problems.
I'm trying to set up an openSUSE 11.2 host as NIS client and I would like to knowwhether or not it can be client of two (or more) NIS domains. The reason is thatsome users are authenticated on server1 (nis-domain1) and some others on server2(nis-domain2).Trawling the web, I found a HP document stating that a client can belong to one NIS domain only. However, the yast NIS client interface allows adding NIS domains/servers to the seemingly default one. I'm totally confused.I made the following experiment:1. declaring nis-domain1 in /etc/defaultdomain and server1 in /etc/yp.conf: ypwhich returns server1, ypcat passwd lists the users on server1.2. in the yast interface, I added nis-domain2 and server2; in /etc/yp.conf, there is an extra line "domain nis-domain2 server server2". After reboot, ypwhichreturns server2, ypcat passwd lists the users on server2. But now the maps from server1 are no longer available.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an obstacle to login remotely to my server. When I used DHCP internet connection, I simply worked with the ssh (scp) commands without any problem. Now, however, I need to use the VPN client to access to internet. After I log on by VPN, I can use the Firefox browser, but the ssh (scp) commands do not work at all from the command prompt. It looks that ssh does not go through the VPN client. I have tried putty.exe with wine, but that also does not work.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm looking for information on how to use a single FTP command from the terminal window, that would do this:
- Login (with usesrname/password)
- Set Transfer type to Binary
- Get all files in a directory and download somewhere.
- Delete all files in the directory that was just downloaded.
- Close Connection when complete.
There lots of information on individual commands, but I want to combine them into one single command that requires no human interaction. Just one big line Hopefully from this one command line I'll be able to create more for other purposes (like login and delete one file then close).
We would like to use Kiwi LTSP to boot some old PCs straight in to a Windows terminal session. We have this working with RDesktop, but we would like to load balance the connections to our Citrix servers, which I don't believe you can do with RDesktop as it points to a single Windows server.
Is there a way to get LTSP to connect to published ICA applications on boot in a similar way to specifying screen07=rdesktop in lts.conf?
until 2 weeks ago I had o.S11.3 on both my Siemens and Asus laptops. I have installed NX No Machine. ( I know it's not open source,I am using the free version). With commandline ( root) /usr/NX/bin/nxclient I was able to connect to the other machines. I got Qt: Locales not supported on X server, the NX menu popped up and I was able to connect by inserting resp codes. After fresh install of o.S.11.4 on the ASUS the commandline (root) answers:
xlib: connection to":0.0" refused by server
xlib: No protocol specified
nxclient: cannot connect to X server:0.0
The ASUS can still be reached from the other machines (one with o.S.11.3,the third one with o.S.11.2 ) SSH ( Lan)connections are all working forth and back between the machines, even to and from Win XP, however only from Win 7 on the ASUS, but that's a Win7problem. Comparing the installed xorg-x11- server-extra : on o.S. 11.3 Additional X servers ( Xmdx,Xephir,Xnest,Xvfb ) ,on o.S.11.4 the Xvfb is missing, might that be the reason?
I've just upgraded to 11.3 (64 bit) and the nfs client does not quite work. I have 3 mounts I try to make, and 2 out of 3 work. The third seems to mount, but shows an empty directory. There are no errors in /var/log/messages on the 11.3 client or the server. The only difference between the 3 mounts that I can see is that the failing mount is of an xfs system. The other two happen to be ext3. Is that visible to the nfs client? Or is that a red herring? I can still mount all 3 just fine from my other opensuse 11.2 systems.
For info, the server is running opensuse 10.3...
Code:
nas:~ # uname -a
Linux nas 2.6.22.19-0.2-default #1 SMP 2008-12-18 10:17:03 +0100 i686 athlon i386 GNU/Linux
So a while back I was able to mount a directory from my OpenSuse server as a NFS on an Esxi server. After restarting the Esxi server, the NFS became inactive and I was unable to remount it. The error given was that the Esxi client was unable to connect to the Suse server. I was looking into the showmount -a command on the Suse server and it showed the mount point on the Esxi server. Could this be causing the Suse server to reject new attempts to mount the directory? What else can I try to fix this problem? Also I should note that both servers can ping each other.

View 3 Replies View RelatedBackground:I have a small PC104 running opensuse 11.1. I'm writing a small client/server application for debugging purposes using mono and WCF. All the client does is make a request for information every 100ms.Problem:After about 20 requests the server quits responding to the client. Even if the client is running on the same machine. I've run the exact code on another laptop running opensuse as well as a laptop running windows and everything works great. Hopefully that closes the option that it is a code, mono, or opensuse flaw.Is there a kernel option or a network option that anyone knows about that might cause this sort of behavior?
View 3 Replies View RelatedAfter connecting to any host, the openssh client hangs after I type the password. The strange part is, it only hangs if when I use the wlan card. If I connect my phone to the computer and uses it to connect to my server, it works 100%.
If I use any other computer at the wireless network, it works 100%
If I use putty on the same machine, it works 100%
It is only a problem when I use the build-in wireless card, under openSuSE 11.3, on my Lenovo L512. (note that everything besides ssh works completely).
I setup an ssh server that works fine when using the terminal, but trying to run programs like firefox fails. It will open partially and then simply hang. Less complicated programs can open successfully and run fine, but cause my remote computer to pause every 5 seconds for about a second.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI just performed a fresh installation of openSUSE 11.3 and ISPConfig 3 on my server. I read through the article "The Perfect Server - openSUSE 11.3 x86_64 [ISPConfig 3]" and followed the instructions closely. Everything went smoothly.
I went into ISPConfig 3 and set up a DNS zone, email mailbox, FTP client, and website all for a client I created, hoping to use the client as the main account for a web site I want to host on my server. After I finished with this, I logged onto the server through FileZilla using my newly created client's information. It took me to the "main directory" with the folders cgi-bin, log, ssl, tmp, and web. When I open "web" I see an html file named "index.html."
I tried loading a mock website into the folder, also with an index.html file, and the files transferred over properly except the mock index.html file. The program changed the name to index.html.1. I tried to delete the original index.html file but was not allowed to. I then tried to rename it to something other than index.html and kept receiving a 550 Rename/move failure message. Can anyone point me in the right direction or help me resolve this issue?
I'm thinking perhaps I don't have the right permissions with the client to rename files, but since that's the account I want as the "owner" of this web site, I need to change the permissions so I can. I tried changing the ISPConfig 3 "Limits" for the account to SSH-Chroot Options "NONE" thinking that might be the issue.
This issue has appeared at least twice in the past few years, for Ver. 10 and 11, but I've not seen any answer other than a suggestion to file a bug report.
The NFS client, on 11.4, returns an unspecified error when started from System Runlevel:
YaST got signal 11 at YCP file Service.ycp:77
/sbin/yast2: line 423: 19958 Segmentation fault $ybindir/y2base $module "$@" "$SELECTED_GUI" $Y2_GEOMETRY $Y2UI_ARGS
Is this client not compatible with the wide screen format on my notebook?
overnight break Left both machines running at the end of the day. This morning, Runlevel can stop and restart NFS client with no problem. The remote directory shows up in the client's Dolphin and is the correct size and content. In the medical field they call this spontaneous remission. Hope it works for you too.
My laptop, running OS114, crashed today b/c it ran out of battery. Apparently, apart from the partial loss of an important document, this has wreaked some part of OS.
I can connect to the network w/o problems i.e. I can access the router over it's IP.
I can not, however, open any site in any browser. pinging them does not work too.
the /etc/resolv.conf is blank up to the standard notes from the OS developers. That is, there are no relevant entries there.
I'm using KDE 4.5 with KNetworkmanager, but neither did I find any solution while looking through the menus of KNetworkmanager, nor in Yast "Network".
I have a box already has openSuse 11 32bits installed. I want to replace it with openSuse 11 64 bits. When I insert the openSuse 11 64 bits CD, I got error message "this is a 32 bit computer. Can not use 64 bit software". so How do I wipe out the old OS (32 bits), and install new OS (64 bits)?
