Apache serves the web pages (actually the directories) but since the documentroot and the SVN root are the same, it cannot handle the SVN repositories correctly. So, I re-read the Setting up a Subversion server using Apache2 - openSUSE how-to and followed it's suggestion. (Use a Location outside the document root) Anyway, the problem is that I have a 404 error, which of course is normal, since there is no alias set for the /rep location I use.

Nov 27, 2010I have a hp zd 7000, i really like this laptop, the onboard ethernet will not work at all. i purchased a dynex wired ethernet pcmcia card to get on the internet with. i have had no luck getting on the internet with it it will light up so i am getting power but no transmitting light works at all i have three net work cards listed in the system. one is the wireless. and the other two are the wired eth0 is the onboard and eth2 is the dynex what can i do next to determine the problem i do not use the wireless at all.

Aug 20, 2010I'm switching internet providers and right now have service with 2. I tried switching my server over today, and ran into trouble so decided to switch it back. I got everything set up again, and it all seems to work - except for ONE of my vhosts. The others work as expected. One (the only "real" site I host) simply hangs. I am "watching" the log file, and the top-level request for "/" (sometimes) comes through and reports response code 200. But, none of the other files (images, css, etc) get requested, and the page never loads.I'm not sure where to even start. Apache is fine since the other vhosts work. I didn't make any changes to my config - except for changing the ip address in my dns. But, that's the same for all vhosts.
It may be worthwhile to note that I changed it back when I tried bringing up the site with the new ISP and it brought up my (new) modem settings with the url. I panicked and couldn't figure out how to fix it.. I thought maybe someone could have been playing with my modem settings (I was automatically logged in as administrator), so I set it back to factory settings. Then I couldn't get the internet to work at all, and changed it back to my original service. Now everything works except for the one vhost.

Mar 20, 2010I am running a quad core centos 5.4 box that is having a strange problem with dovecot. The administration panel is able to send emails through dovecot but not any of the user accounts (ie with webmail). I've done a bit of research with what could be wrong but haven't had any luck so far I am also having a weird problem with apache: on a c++/php bittorrent application I was going to be running on a subdomain of my main site I get a 500 error every time I try to log in. The only way to get rid of the 500 error is to clear the chache (so its horribly broken somehow). The error generated in the log whenever I try to log in is that "ffmpeg is already loaded" (which I am running on the main site and is critical). Is there a way of either repairing my apache install or excluding ffmpeg on the subdomain in the conf or something?

Aug 9, 2010Vuze downloaded an update, and now everytime I use it keeps telling me to re start for the update to have an effect. When I re start, same thing happens again tells me it needs to restart. I'm using Gnome and openSUSE 11.3. I checked older posts for a solution it seems this has happened before. Do I just wait for a new version to come out of the repos?

Jul 10, 2011I recently installed SuSE 11.4 (kernel 2.6.37.6-0) and it all works very nicely EXCEPT for the KDM login. I am using kde 4.6.0 and have the latest updates for 11.4 installed and at install time, I left the automatic Login box checked which works ok. However, when I go to the 'Personal Settings - configure desktop' and change the Login - convenience' to UNcheck the Auto login box, it does not change the Login action - I stlll login (without a login name and password screen appearing). I have looked at the file - /usr/share/kde/config and the kdmrc file does change to read 'autologin' true (or false) when I make the changes in the configure desktop GUI, but this has no effect on my actual ability to 'login' automatically all the time!

Aug 5, 2011I've just installed Opensuse 11.3 on m Dell Studio 15, and am having problems getting the wireless card to work. I've installed the proper driver (I think), using ndiswrapper, and have blacklisted the conflicting driver (called ssb) to the 50-blacklist.conf file in /etc/modprobe.d/. My problem is that the ssb driver is still appearing as an alternate driver when I use the command ndiswrapper -l in the terminal. Where do I go from here? Am I correct that the ssb driver is not blacklisted correctly?

Jan 5, 2011Apache is set to start on runlevel 2, 3 and 5, just like MySQL. For some obscure reason this always fails. I tried resetting the runlevels, but this did not help and I always have to start apache manually after reboot.
How can I analyze this problem? In the Apache logs I don't find the cause. Is there an other log I can check?

So far I have- enabled pretty urls in the CMS- created .htaccess files (as they showed)- changed AllowOverride None to All in /etc/Apache2/httpd.conf <directory>- restarted ApacheBut the pretty urls still don't work, When I click any link on either site it gives me a page not found error. If I use the "non-pretty" URLs, all the links work. So I guess Apache either doesn't read the httpd config file or it doesn't read the .htaccess files or something else. Has anyone got this working? What else did you do?

Feb 5, 2011I'm running OpenSuse 11.3 X64. I have installed apache2, PHP5 and MySQL in order to do some web-design offline e.g. they are for internal network use only. There is also phpMyAdmin installed. The default directory for the "server" is /srv/www/htdocs.
To access a specific site in progress I create a subfolder there then just navigate via h**p://10.13.23.201/NAMEOFFOLDER from my internal network. At least that is how it should work but it doesn't. I created a new folder called wlc so it's directory is /srv/www/htdocs/wlc however when I go to the address h**p://10.13.23.201/wlc I get a Remote Server Or File Not Found error from my browser, there is files in there ,index.php, that should load and apache has been set to recognize *.php files.
I know the theory should work as I can access /srv/www/htdocs/phpMyAdmin by going to h**p://10.13.23.201/phpMyAdmin and it loads just fine. Also the error is different if I go to a folder that doesn't exist for example h**p://10.13.23.201/THISFOLERDOESNTEXISIT will return an Object Not Found error.

When I open the php script on a browser window it works as it should.

Jun 16, 2010I have both apache and tomcat services running, both in their standard doors (tomcat 8080, httpd 80). I need to setup tomcat to run on door 80 instead of httpd. I changed httpd door with success to 8180. Now I want to change tomcat6 door to 80, and I did that by editing server.xml config file of tomcat. After restarting tomcat, the system tells me it's ok, but I can see that it's not running on 80, nor at any other door. A simple nmap search confirm that. What should I do to have tomcat running in door 80?

Here is my problem : when I run this file with shell as root user it makes change to iptables, but when I use my browser to run this file, it doesn't make any change. I'm sure this is because Apache doesn't have permission to manipulate iptables. How can I start Apache as a user with root privileges ?

Nov 14, 2010I am unable to examine Apache httpd error log from YaST2 because the lines are too long; the browser just truncates them and thus it does not show any description. The only option is to save it. However, when I chose that option, YaST2 encourages me to save it in /tmp, and as soon as I do that, the log becomes accessible to every user!
