I have an urgent issue with my apache. Since last night approximately 50% of my vhosts are responding very slowly. That means I see a blank page for 1 minute and then the content comes up real quick.I restored the httpd.conf file but it didn't solve the problem.
I'm switching internet providers and right now have service with 2. I tried switching my server over today, and ran into trouble so decided to switch it back. I got everything set up again, and it all seems to work - except for ONE of my vhosts. The others work as expected. One (the only "real" site I host) simply hangs. I am "watching" the log file, and the top-level request for "/" (sometimes) comes through and reports response code 200. But, none of the other files (images, css, etc) get requested, and the page never loads.I'm not sure where to even start. Apache is fine since the other vhosts work. I didn't make any changes to my config - except for changing the ip address in my dns. But, that's the same for all vhosts.
It may be worthwhile to note that I changed it back when I tried bringing up the site with the new ISP and it brought up my (new) modem settings with the url. I panicked and couldn't figure out how to fix it.. I thought maybe someone could have been playing with my modem settings (I was automatically logged in as administrator), so I set it back to factory settings. Then I couldn't get the internet to work at all, and changed it back to my original service. Now everything works except for the one vhost.
I have a friend that has a problem with his site on my server. He doesn't have any problem on other servers so I guess there's something wrong in the config that I can change. The site is in /html_doc and then he has a couple of other forlders for example, /api
I have a fresh install, everythings working great, just trying to get my vhosts working, i set them up in yast, but all the requests just go to the second vhost.
but ive two problems. 1st: The first is how do i change the default page on load up of localhost.eg when i enter the http://localhost/ i get the usual it works symbol.this is because its loading the index.html file in my var/www/ folder.i dont want too create another index file, but how do i change the configuration too load up a different one like home.html2nd: i tried installing sudo apt-get install phpmyadmin and for the most part it worked.but nothign comes up when i go to http://localhost/phpmyadmin/
I'm tring to setting up some subdomains but it won't work and I don't understand why.I've got the [URL]. Now I want to setup some subdomains for example with test.domain.de I made an entry in my http.conf which looks like this:
What I want to do now is make nicmatthew.co.cc point to /var/www/nicmatthew/html and make rielworld.co.cc point to /var/www/jimriel/html. I have created the apache vHosts nicmatthew.co.cc and rielworld.co.cc containing this:
So now I would like to know how to make rielworld.co.cc and nicmatthew.co.cc point to the correct places. Do I somehow set up nameservers? Do I make an A record?
I multiboot my Lucid with Win7 and any other Linux Distro (I frequently keep changing these, presently using or trying Fedora Lovelock).I have noticed that the time between Grub Menu display and Ubuntu Splash screen has increased by a good number of seconds. I have set my Grub to select my default OS (Lucid lynx) after 3 seconds and which it does. But after that a black screen with blinking _ is displayed for sometime before Ubuntu loads with its splash screen.
I wonder what caused this? It was not the case before when ubuntu splash appeared almost immediately after Grub menu.
I have just installed ubuntu 10.1 along side my windows xp. It installed nicely and boots up promptly. When I try to go to a web site, it takes forever to load. It can take up to 1 minute to load a page. Why is that. I thought that Linux was supposed to be faster. When I go back to windows, I don't have this problem.
I have an Acer T135 desktop with 2gig ram and a Sempron 3300+ single processor. Whenever I boot up, the bios screen seems to hang around for 20-30 seconds before it disappears and boots up. From the time the bios screen disappears it takes about 20 secs for Ubuntu to finish loading (which is fine). So, is it possible to speed up the bios time? If so, how?
In ubuntu however, page loading is Unnaturally slow and "[url]...." (or whatever), returns result every 4 seconds. Strange is that Skype and online games (read HoN) work fine, with only problem is store loading 10seconds and during logging time. I will post all the command output.
Code: sudo iptables -L -v Chain INPUT (policy DROP 5411 packets, 658K bytes) pkts bytes target prot opt in out source destination[code]...........
Following this issue: [url] my laptop has been really slow. I think it's just the desktop, as nothing else appears to be that slow (except firefox loading).
I've looked in processes, and there are no obvious issues there. I still have all 1gb of my memory plugged in and I still have a 1.6ghZ processor (at that speed).
When I try to run the command simplexml_load_string() in my php file i keep getting the error: Fatal error: Call to undefined function: simplexml_load_string() in <file> - on line <line>I checked phpinfo() and it doesn't seem to be installed. But I am using PHP 5 and as I've heard this is installed by default. When I compiled the PHP I did not purposely exclude simplexml.
I have redmine 1.01 on Suse 10, some days back it was running fine. but now it's taking too much refresh to load a page properly. How will I go back to normal page loading ?
I am trying to set up my Apache server with FastCGI as the CGI engine. It will be mostly running PHP, but I may add Perl or something else later. I started from a completely fresh install of Ubuntu 11.04 with every update available. I used the install CD to install a LAMP server as part of the system install.I am using the tutorial at URL...to add the FastCGI functionality. I am having some problems with getting everything to work. The first problem was that apache2-suexec-custom wouldn't accept a different document root. I fixed that by compiling apache2-suexec from source with the document root changed to the correct path.
The next problem is that every php page I load throws a 500 error. Apache's error logs show that FastCGI isn't returning the page data correctly to Apache.
I found Atom CPU is slow when booting the system, screen shows "Loading Linux ......................", is it because the N270 is running at half speed before the kernel is completely load to memory?
Kernel 2.6.32 is even slow because the kernel image is bigger than lenny. Is there a way to speed up this?
With the last several updates to Firefox, loading pages from several different sites slows down to (slower than) a crawl - taking sometimes minutes. Most of the time, this occurs loading ads.
I don't remember what release this started with, but I didn't have problems before, and I don't have any problems loading the same web pages on IE8 (running on XP). This is the same on F12 and F11.
I have tried changing some of the securty choices, even tried blocking certain sites, but no luck.
Also, several times after a download, firefox freezes, although the rest of the desktop is okay.
On my computer, I'm using 11.3, KDE 4.4.4 and Firefox 3.6.8. Firefox is so s...l...o...w..... It's slow loading and it's slow browsing. Konqueror takes 1, maybe 2 seconds to load, and another second to load the home page. Firefox takes a good 30 seconds to load. The only message I get when loading from a terminal is about not using a shared database. I don't hear the disk churning like it would with a fragmented disk.
I can't believe everyone is having this response, the hue and cry would be enormous! Anything to try? Should I try loading another browser? I tried Opera on 11.2 and didn't really like it, had problems with a lot of content. What about Sea Monkey (Gad, I HATE words with monkey in them!) Konqueror won't show a lot of videos and I have problems using the back and forward buttons. I'll wait for fixes but in the meantime.
I am now working with squeeze, and my page load time on my Vista laptop, which is working off of a wireless connection, is much faster than my linux desktop, which is a direct connection.
I am currently using fedora 12. My question is why is the speed for my yum and rpm are very slow. Something like Flash Player 10 couldn't even load after being installed. If I downloaded the rpm, the speed is like normal but if I yum it. The ESA took like >1,000,000 sec..or whatever..The point is it does seem like something has happened to my yum/rpm function. I can download and surf the web as usual. I just can't get any add-on such as the Flash Player 10. I can only use the basic already provided by Fedora.
I tried: su - yum clean all rpm --rebuilddb yum update but I am still unsure what type of RPM issue I am facing.
i have debian Sid, for past 1 to 1.5 months, i have observed that it has become very slow, in loading programs, opening documents etc. Where should I start looking?Info:-System :- HP DV5 1215Tx Laptop, 2.1 ghz c2d , 500gb WD 5000 bevt harddisk, Nvidia 9600 GT, 2 gig ram .kernel version 2.6.32-4-686Drivers : I use NVIDIA drivers, version 190.53.Network:- I use wired DSL WIFI available but Not in use, nor is bluetooth etc.System is not connected to any other network .Use :- internet, music, movies.Display manager :- KDE 4.3.4Desktop effects :-None, Disabled. My question is , where and how should I start looking?PS I am a linux user for quite a long while. It has been my Only OS for about 4~5 years. But for last 1/2 years because of my studies, i have been out of 'touch' with its commands etc,but willing to dive back in and to stuff on my own, looking for direction here.
When running Firefox, page loading is very slow (e.g. taking nearly a minute for a ..... video to start; even gmail is slow). This is in contrast with my performance when using, e.g. linuxdcpp (file sharing), where I get speeds over 300kbps. Here is some relevant information:
I just installed 10.10 for netbooks, and apparently it's using the RT2800PCI driver for my wireless NIC in my EeePC 901. That driver is causing havoc with my school network, I keep getting disconnected, and loading websites is really slow.
Now I know that 10.04 uses a different driver RT2860 which seems to work far better on this network.
How to change to the driver from lucid. Or does anyone know of an even better solution? I've heard rumors about something called ndiswrapper...
I recently bought my laptop (Fujitsu nh540) and installed FC14 on it. I have Integrated WLAN Atheros HB97 (IEEE 802.11b/g/n) (more info here about the config) running on: 2.6.35.13-91.fc14.i686.PAE
Since I installed FC I've had problems with the internet. In any browser pages load very slow, it looks like the browser waits some seconds, sometimes even 1-2 minutes until it actually starts to load the page.
Second thing I saw is that when it boots I keep getting: Determining IP information for eth0... failed; no link present. Check cable? [FAILED] But I have WiFi internet. I am not using a wired internet connection.
I installed madwifi driver (compiled it, after reading some info on google and it seems it should be good for my network) and it seems it's a bit better, but I still have to wait some seconds until it starts loading pages. I tried different browsers, it makes no difference. On my other 2 laptops I have no problems, the internet works fine, same goes for my android mobile phone. Another "nice" problem I noticed is that when compiz is enabled I see incoming video on skype black and the same black screen for some movies with some programs. After disablig compiz, all works for video.
i've been having some problems the last few months with my server/apache getting really slow (pages loading slow) and the only way i can fix it is to restart apache which is quite annoying and is not fixing the problem but it gets to the point where pages are almost not loading so i have to keep restarting apache but after 2mins it'll be slow again and once again i'll have to restart apache...i forgot to say that memory usage is a little higher then normal (500mb-700mb compared to 250mb-300mb - but goes back to normal after restarting apache) and the load is also a little high but always under 1 (also note my server is on a 100mbits port and i can easily push 100mbits 24/7 with no problems at all so it's not bandwidth)
I've had this odd, stubborn problem that seems to be related to the nouveau video driver and certain kernel builds: opening or saving full resolution jpeg image files using GIMP takes from 1-5 minutes and causes xorg CPU usage to reach almost 100%.This also occurs when using UFRaw to open Canon raw image files. The problem is not intermittent, it happens each time I open a file. Opening photos in the default image viewer works fine. This bug has vexed me on and off for the last couple of months, and seems to be triggered by a combination of kernel version and the Nouveau driver. I switched to Debian Squeeze from Ubuntu 10.04 because I was experiencing slow image open times in Ubuntu 10.04 (using the Nouveau driver).I did not experience the bug running Squeeze with the nv driver and kernel 2.6.32-3.
I did not have the bug running Squeeze with the nouveau driver and kernel 2.6.32-5 backported from Sid.I began experiencing the bug again after the Squeeze updates on June 14th (still running nouveau and kernel 2.6.32-5). I update daily so it's likely to be that day's updates which caused the bug to reappear.Just for grins, I installed the Liquorix kernel. The bug does not occur using kernel 2.6.34-0.dmz.10-liquorix-686 and the nouveau video driver.I have a Nvidia FX5500 video card. I prefer the nouveau driver to nv as my display seems to behave better. The Nvidia proprietary drivers are not an option because they produce X freezes when I am doing photo editing. The liquorix kernel seems to be working fine, but for long-term stability I'd rather be running a mainline Debian kernel.
