OpenSUSE Network :: SSH Daemon, Apache, MySQL Not Responding?
Nov 20, 2010
Dear all, I have system running LAMP and acting as a regular webserver.After running the setup for quite some months, I start having major issues:Symptoms:1. Applications do not respond neither from LAN nor WAN - SSH daemon, Apache, MySQL, FTP2. Network still seems to work for ping and port listeners3. Telnet is still successful for 21, 22, 80, 33064. Server has to be restarted manuallyTrying to find out the issue, I went through /var/log/ looking for major issues or warnings. But nothing seemed plausible to me to understand the issue - except I knew I was running out of disk space a few times.Not being able to identify nor replicate the issue, I replaced the hardware running 24x7 since quite a few years. Doing this, I migrated at the same time from OpenSUSE 10.1 to 11.3.The machine itself is behind a firewall and only the above mentioned standard ports are accessible
i am trying to set up LAMP on an old pc i have installed linux, apache, mySQL and PHP following this guide Installing Apache2 With PHP5 And MySQL Support On OpenSUSE 11.3 (LAMP) | HowtoForge - Linux Howtos and Tutorials. i have installed phpMyAdmin but when i try and acess it i get this error
Error MySQL said: Cannot connect: invalid settings.
phpMyAdmin tried to connect to the MySQL server, and the server rejected the connection. You should check the host, username and password in your configuration and make sure that they correspond to the information given by the administrator of the MySQL server.
I think this goes here, but I'm not sure. I decided that XAMPP had been troublesome enough. MySQL never worked. So I decided to instal the LAMP stack offered by YaST. I went about installing it thinking that it would all work. But it seems that I was wrong. So I try to start mysql, and here's what I get:
Code: the-matrix:~ # mysql start ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/mysql/mysql.sock' (2) or Code: the-matrix:~ # rcmysql start Starting service MySQL warning: /var/mysql/mysql.sock didn't appear within 30 seconds chmod: cannot access `/var/run/mysql/mysqld.pid': No such file or directory
I recently installed OpenSUSE 11.2 and everything works fine except wi-fi card, of course. The problem is that after installation the system recognized the card (is was listed in network devices in Yast) but I was unable to enable it through network-manager applet. Though the device could make scanning through terminal (found article in docs but didn't fully understand wpa_gui). Then i was stupid enough to delete the device from Yast list to try to reinstall it. So the problem is that i simply can't do this cause i see no way to re-detect. That is the goal is to at least turn back to post-install system state and try to enable wifi card again.
I've been working on getting NoMachine and FreeNX working together ... and they're both working well, listening on different ports (guess I should write a howto). At some point I decided to write an init script to control FreeNX behaviour (start, stop, status, setup), since the Ubuntu version has one (called freenx-server) and openSUSE doesn't, but I noticed that it was not necessary, as FreeNX got started automatically... but how ? I could not find any init.d script or command which would start the FreeNX server. Indeed it wasn't actually running :
Code: neelix:~ # /usr/bin/nxserver --status NX> 100 NXSERVER - Version 3.2.0-73 OS (GPL, using backend: 3.2.0)
On Windows and Mac it's as simple as downloading some WAMP and XAMP stack and clicking "install".
On OpenSUSE I'm trying to do it myself. I went into YaST and installed the "Web and LAMP Server" pattern.
Then I edited the default-server.conf file to point towards my website by changing the DocumentRoot and <Directory "blah blah"> lines.
Then I tried to start apache, but got the following error:
Code: # apache2ctl restart httpd2: Syntax error on line 188 of /etc/apache2/httpd.conf: Could not open configuration file /etc/apache2/sysconfig.d/include.conf: No such file or directory So I just went into httpd.conf and commented out that line.
I have installed bootpd-dd2 and enabled and configured it with xinetd. 1. Made sure that their is a bootptab file and it is configured. 2. Tested the bootpd is working by runing the command /usr/sbin/bootptest cmdbfs .3. tail -f the /var/log/messages and saw the requests from the test.4. rebooted a machine that is configured to pxe boot.there is no messages by bootpd when a request is made.request is picked up by network monitor on a seperate computer on the proper udp port
I have installed Tomcat on one machine and MySQL on another. When I run tomcat on the same machine as Mysql and use 'localhost' in the jdbc url, I have no problem accessing mysql through jdbc. So my problem is accessing a remote mysql instance. I have granted privileges in the following way from the MySQL prompt:GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON mydatabase.* TO myusername @192.168.0.103 IDENTIFIED BY 'mypassword';
FLUSH PRIVILEGES; Still I get : com.mysql.jdbc.exceptions.jdbc4.MySQLSyntaxErrorEx ception: Access denied for user 'myusername'@'192.168.0.103' to database 'mydatabase' sun.reflect.NativeConstructorAccessorImpl.newInsta nce0(Native Method) sun.reflect.NativeConstructorAccessorImpl.newInsta nce(NativeConstructorAccessorImpl.java:57) [Code]....
I have no idea whether this is a problem at the operating system level i.e. allowing networked hosts, or whether it is something to do with MySQL. I have commented out bindaddress and, on this version, there is no 'skip-networking' line to comment out.
In my system I installed Oracle enterprise linux.while installing I installed Mysql also.
I checked the version which is 5.0.15
After my installation,I am installing Bugzilla 4.0.at that time it's showing below =========================================================== Checking for DBD-mysql (v4.00) found v3.0007
For MySQL, Bugzilla requires that perl's DBD::mysql 4.00 or later be installed. To install this module, run the following command (as root):
/usr/bin/perl install-module.pl DBD::mysql =========================================================== I ran below command #/usr/bin/perl install-module.pl DBD::mysql
I'm trying to install ispCP and i need to start mysqld but it won't seem to start. I'm somewhat of a nooblet to linux (have a year of VPS 'experience', but nothing too fance) so bear with me.
When i run "service mysqld start" it fails with the error: "MySQL Daemon failed to start."
I ran: "tail -n 30 /var/log/mysqld.log" and this is the output;
[root@dragon575 mysql]# tail -n 30 /var/log/mysqld.log 110726 16:03:10 InnoDB: Completed initialization of buffer pool 110726 16:03:10 InnoDB: highest supported file format is Barracuda. 110726 16:03:10 InnoDB: 1.1.8 started; log sequence number 1588761 110726 16:03:10 [ERROR] Aborting
I've had a VPS running Ubuntu 9.10 x64 server, hosting 3 websites of mine for a few months now. This problem has been happening for a while. Every once in a while, probably every 2 or 3 days, I'll wake up in the morning, and apache won't be responding, no web pages will load. /etc/init.d/apache2 status, reports that apache is functioning properly. Every time I simply have to restart the daemon and things run fine for another few days.
I thought maybe it was a memory issue, so I lowered the MaxClients in the prefork module from 50 to 30 a few days ago, but the same thing is still happening. My VPS has 512MB of ram, burstable to 1GB, and according to Virtuozzo, there was only one night of high traffic where I even came close to that soft limit. I've checked my syslog, and there's absolutely nothing in there about apache. I've checked apache's error.log as well, and there's nothing in there that would indicate a problem either.
I am not able to start mysql server...when i type command sevice mysqld start it saysMySQL Daemon failed to start.Starting mysqld: [FAILED]so how to solve this problem ?
I'm trying to get mySQL Daemon to start when the machine starts up (and it requires root privileges to run). The command to startup would be
Code: sudo /etc/init.d/mysql start however that would prompt for a password, and that would not be very well possible now would it? Now, if i try to start it up without being root, it will not start. So this is my problem, maybe someone out there would know a bit more about this than me.
I installed MySQL on my Ubuntu 10.04 desktop. As I need it only once a month I removed it from all runlevels but mysql is still running after boot up. "lsof" shows that it is running and listening for connections.
for some reason, which I have exhausted all my thoughts upon..
I have mysql 5.0.77
I just made an amendment to the auto_increment_increment variable.. from 10 to 1
Gone to restart mysqld (im on redhat FYI) and get the error:
'Timeout error occurred trying to start MySQL Daemon.'
It fails to stop, and obviously fails to start.
I have included below my 'my.cnf' file but I cant see any issues with it, and can't for the life of me think why there is something wrong.
If I ever come across an issue, I don't tend to ask but instead try and figure it out (usually with success) but this time.. I just cannot get my head around it..
I'm trying to modify an existing user so that any files they create can be at least read (although writing and execution would be nice) by any other user. The reason is because I need the daemon running my Apache server to be able to access files created by a daemon running under this user, files which will be created and accessed in real-time.
I have fedora version 8 with mysql 5.0.45 installed. I have also installed drupal. Recently drupal gave me an error "error code 28". When i checked it out it seemed to be with the db. When i tried to created a db (for testing purposes) in root...i wasn't able to. so then i tried to restart mysql ...it stopped but unfortunately i have not been able to get mysql back up...i get a message saying "Timeout error occurred trying to start MySql Daemon".
I have a VPS running on centos-5-x86 and mysql server went down two days ago this is my mysql server log
110602 18:28:09 mysqld started InnoDB: The log sequence number in ibdata files does not match InnoDB: the log sequence number in the ib_logfiles! 110602 18:28:14 InnoDB: Database was not shut down normally! InnoDB: Starting crash recovery.
I'm working with Fedora and SELinux and am having a problem. I need to allow apache's http daemon to use arp (for getting some mac addresses). I have changed the type of the arp executable to httpd_sys_context_t but am still having an issue. Here is the messages log: Detailed Description:
I installed LAMPP a couple of weeks ago and was working fine. Today when I try to start lampp, it will only start MySql and ProFTPD. It says "XAMPP: Another web server daemon is already running." How can I find out where this other server is located and stop it?
I've a server with opensuse 11.4 (from a 11.3 upgrade), but I can't run Apache.. I've tried latest version (official repository and Apache repository), but it give me always same error:
[error] (38)Function not implemented: apr_socket_accept: (client socket)
I've have removed and reinstalled apr/apr-utils also, but nothing..
I'm using openSUSE 11.1 and would like to authenticate vsftp users against a mysql database. The newest version of pam-mysql I can find is from 2005. I'm concerned about using something from what appears to be a dead project. Is there an alternative? I'm trying to come up with a solution where I can manage FTP users from an application running from Windows desktops.
MySQL gets installed with root user by default, root user can administer every mysql database installed in the system. Question is how to create a new user that will not be able to administer all the databases in the system the way as root user is? Can it be done using webmin?
I have installed openSuse and set up a as web server have apache2 running but need to change the MPM to worker. How is this done, I am new to OpeneSuse and Unix/Linux I know where to change the worker settings I just need to enable it over the prefork default. I know how they work I just need how to change to worker.
I desperately need to get my apache server on OPenSuse to use the worker MPM I have tried simply placing worker in the quotes of the apache file /etc/sysconfig/apache2 but when I stop and start apache in the task monitor it is still showing the httpd2 processes to be prefork. Also there seems to be a problem on restart saying it cant find MPM.
