One DVD+R that I made from a download plays perfectly on my computer's player. Yet, every time that I insert it into my stand alone player connected to my TV, it stutters and stops repeatedly. If the disc were dirty, it should misbehave in my computer as well, no? All other DVD's that I have made have no problem playing in my stand alone player
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm on 10.04. Every dvd ripper I've tried so far has failed in one or another. I have all restricted extras and medibuntu codecs installed.
DVD::Rip either throws an error message or stops ripping somewhere through the process
Handbrake only finds some of the dvd titles
OGM rip gives an "Unknown error"
Acidrip says "mencoder interrupted by user"
Started with a clean install, with new GeForce 6200 video card installed. Very impressed that when I tried to activate compiz, it informed me that I must download and install the relevant drivers - and it provided me with a 'one click' install! Now I'm running the latest driver (195) - well done guys!Anyway, happy as I am with a no-fuss install, I'd like to know what is everyones pick of CD ripper to MP3?
I've downloaded Asunder, but this seems very slow in comparison to other Windows-based apps I've tried.I wanted to try Sound Juicer, but unfortunately it requires some code to change from VBR to CBR @ 320kbps.
All I'd like to reliably do is rip a few audio CDs. SoundKonverter - doesn't work at all. Log tells me nothing SoundJuicer - OK for one disk. Usually crashes when the read disk is ejected and attempts are made to read the next. Failing that, it will read a few tracks and then lock up. K3B - Only rips first disk, then the progress window (form) locks up at 100%. Cancel button doesn't work. Need to kill task.
RipOff - works OK, but so slow... life's too short goobox - locks up before it even reads the disk and despite its claims I don't think it's a "rip" tool anyway.
Is it possible to install a bluray ripper via the terminal that can be used via the terminal?
I'm using xbmc and from what I've read it's not possible in the frontend.
I'm trying to install Rubyripper into Maverick using these guidelines: [URL]
But I get this error message in terminal:
Code:
W: Failed to fetch http://ppa.launchpad.net/aheck/ppa/ubuntu/dists/maverick/main/source/Sources.gz 404 Not Found
W: Failed to fetch http://ppa.launchpad.net/aheck/ppa/ubuntu/dists/maverick/main/binary-i386/Packages.gz 404 Not Found
E: Some index files failed to download, they have been ignored, or old ones used instead. Presumably because it can't find the package. But what do I do next? or is there an alternative way to install?
I am looking for a decent easy to use DVD ripper (Like K9copy) but want it to be xfce native application has anyone got any ideas on this?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm looking for the best way to pull some video files off of DVDs onto the desktop. These are not copyright protected. I don't want a program that plays the movie and then make a duplicate like most windows programs these are TOO slow. Also if I could shrink and change the format that would be a huge bonus.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm vaguely remembering a video stream ripper that was open source and could be compiled for linux, mac, and windows. It's name ended with ++ and I can't remember anything else Basically, it was like StreamTransport but open source and multiprotocol capable. Can anybody help me find it again? I'd be open to alternatives too of course! My basic need is to rip anything being rendered by my video card.
View 1 Replies View RelatedRunning openSUSE11.4 KDE I have this problem:
starting vlc gives only 3 seconds sounds, then quits. Message from system: linuxbox kernel: [ 786.386363] ALSA clock.c:233: current rate 0 is different from the runtime rate 44100 All other players like Smplayer
I've added this packman repo: Index of /suse/openSUSE_11.4/ and installed all the necessary libraries and tools required as mentioned here using zypper: Restricted formats/11.4 - openSUSE Community Wiki When I try to play any movie in VLC I'm able to hear the audio for some time usually 3-4 mins and then audio totally stops though the video continues to play. A random seek or a seek forward/back also cause similar issue almost immediately. I switched the output module in VLC preference to different settings: default, SDL, Unix OSS, Alsa but the same issue persists. The audio recovers if I just enter the Audio settings menu in VLC preferences and click Save (even without changing anything) but after the same 3-4 mins or by seeking, the audio stops.
I disabled Pulseaudio for my sound card(s) in Yast->Sound, and I even kill the pulseaudio process but it somehow starts itself up again when I change anything in VLC audio preferences or even simply click Save without any changes. I've made sure all the multimedia related packages are installed from the packman repo whenever possible (I still observe there are few packages which do not exist on the packman but the openSUSE 11.4 repo alone eg. phonon-backend-gstreamer, phonon-backend-xine) Here is the rpm query output for the multimedia related libraries:
Code:
rpm --query --queryformat '%{NAME}-%{VERSION}-%{RELEASE}-%{ARCH} -> %{VENDOR}
' --all 'libav*' 'libpostproc*' 'libswscale*' '*xine*' '*gst*' MPlayer '*vlc*' | grep -v avahi | sort

Opensuse 11.3
Firefox 3.6.13
Shockwave flash 10.1 r102 (this is what it says under add-ons)
when I look for flash programs installed in Yast I get two things

pullin-flash-player 11.3.1-2.1.1
My Audio stops playing when switching to console from Xorg. When I switch back it continues playing. Is it supposed to be like this? Any way I can make it play continuously? I've already checked the Howtos and this forum for this problem but havent found anything similar.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am trying to record a test video with my built-in webcam, using Cheese. However, after I click "Start recording," the Cheese screen turns black, and Cheese seems to hang. I can click "Stop recording" sometimes -- then I get a split-second video clip. But mostly it just hangs until I force quit.
I'm on an Asus 900HA. I could record video clips on using eeebuntu and Cheese. Is there a setting I need to check?
I opened a text file and read some stuff. Then I (think) I closed it. Then I tried to open another one and it stopped working. It seemed to compile fine though. Why would this be?

this problem is quiet enoying, so i hope that somebody can help me tracking down this problem and find a solution. When i open vlc or exaile and queue a list of tracks, after playing some hours, the sound hangs and in the music player repeats the same 1 second audio part like a hickup, in video programs like vlc also the film freezes.
i have the latest libraries of gstreamer from packman installed and i also tried updating the pulseaudio libraries from multimedia repo. but the problem is still the same
I removed gxine and got this message.

There are some running programs that use files deleted by recent upgrade. You may wish to restart some of them. Run 'zypper ps' to list these programs.
I am using F12 and whenever i open the firewall program it hangs. Is this common or is it just me?

View 4 Replies View RelatedThe subject of this post is actually a question e.g. is there a mp3 ripper that allows the bitrate to be modified. I have looked at cdparanioa, which I believe is the foundation of most of the Linux rippers, but it does not allow modification of the bitrate. I realise I could ripper in flacc format but I have an mp3 player as does my grandaughter so I need the mp3 format. Incidentally is there a player(portable) that will play flacc encoded files?
