Hardware :: ADSL - Speedtouch 330 Loosing Connection ?

Jul 4, 2010

I have been successfully using my speedtouch usb 330 for years.

Now suddenly something weird occurs.I manage to stay connected a few minutes, afterwards the line drops down and I can't reconnect.

I switched the connection script to "verbose mode" and what I get is:

It seems that I can't get an answer from the provider, but if I reboot it connects at first attempts, but the connection falls down again after a few minutes.

I have dual boot. No similar problems is affecting the connection under Windows, so some hardware fault is ruled out as a possibility.

OpenSUSE Install :: Unable To Install Speedtouch Usb ADSL Modem

Jan 23, 2010

I'm trying to install my first linux system. I would like to use it as a server on an old 386 PC.For the internet connexion (ADSL) i use a Speedtouch USB modem. When i list the peripheral installed on the system, i see the modem with apparently a driver, but the device is listed as non classified. For me it should be directed to DSL0 but..According to some tuto i declared a DSL connection, ppp with ATM (VPI8 and VCI35).I launch the connection with pinternet but the connection failed.

Fedora Networking :: SpeedTouch Modem In 10 - System Update Says That No Connection

Apr 28, 2009

I'm trying to use Speedtouch USB modem.

According to [url].

After a bit of fighting interface works I can ping any domain name or ip address. I can even connect to web server via telnet, for example telnet www.org 80. I can see the response from Web server, but Mozilla says that it is offline, System Update says that no connection.

What can be the problem if manually I can connect but any Gnome GUI program says you are offline?

I checked the system logs and get the following repeated messages:

OpenSUSE Network :: Wired Internet - Keep Loosing Connection?

Dec 26, 2009

Opensuse 11.2 - wired internet connection

I keep losing internet connectivity from within OpenSuse. I've had ubuntu/kubuntu beforeand never had a problem. I installed opensuse and now after a few minutes of browsing I'll lose my internet connection.I also dual boot into winXP without any problems.I noticed that when the connection is lost I can't even reach my router - which is where I'm getting the wired connection from.So it's not just the outside internet but the local network too. It only happens within opensuse.

Ubuntu Networking :: Wireless Randomly Loosing Connection?

I do randomly (as far as I know) loose my wireless network connection. The only thing to do then is to restart my router and after that it works for a while. I know this is not a hardware issue because I don't have this problem with KDE, only in gnome. I think this problem occurred after I started using 10.04, but then I changed to KDE and forgot about it. But now I'm using gnome again and loosing my network connection over and over drives me mad

Ubuntu Networking :: Automatically 'redial' ADSL Connection After Power Failure?

May 4, 2010

I use an ADSL connection which I 'dial' using the Network Manager. My laptop is connected to the modem through an ethernet cable.

The thing is the place where I stay is prone for power failure. So the modem goes out with the power. It comes back on within a minute when the power is restored but Network Manager doesn't seem to automatically re-establish the connection after it is lost once. I have to manually do it. Hence most of my downloads do not get done.

On ubuntu, I use pppoeconf and it works well. So on Fedora I made a connection with pppoe-setup but neither ifup nor
Code:

pppoe-connect
commands work. When I type
Code:
pppoe-connect
, it says
Code:
/usr/sbin/adsl-start: line 217: 13409 Terminated $CONNECT
"$@" > /dev/null 2>&1
. When I type

Ifup ppp0 doesn't work either. However, with exactly the same settings, ubuntu connects to the internet.

I set the modem back to PPPoE the problem was with the DNS server of the ISP so using ifup i set the dns t 8.8.8.8 (google) the connection is back , but when i set the modem back as a bridge slow internet does the router know that my dns is 8.8.8.8 or i should set the dns on the router ? I can't see an option to set the dns on the router ( i just enter my username and password from the isp to use PPPoE mode ) by the way i called the isp support they kept telling me to restart , i told them i did but i never restarted my pc . Ubuntu :: Unable To Install My Speedtouch 330 Modem - And Connect To The Internet

May 25, 2010

I installed Ubuntu 10.04 this morning and everything is working fine apart from one thing. I am unable to install my Speedtouch 330 modem on it and connect to the internet, I looked on the help pages and found this:

"Visit Ubuntu Packages Search and search for each of the following packages. Download them to a folder that is also visible from Ubuntu (or to a USB stick).

As I cannot access the internet I had to go back to windows, download them onto a memory stick, go back on to Ubuntu and install them. The first 12 worked fine and are now installed but number 13 and 14 wont allow me to update because "the dependency is un-satisfiable" does anyone know what this means and how I can fix it? I was also unable to get the USB ADSL Modem Manager too install either because of another error.
