I tried to find the file usbfs and there is where get stuck already. I only can find a folder with that name. The sentence (3 -) makes almost no sense to me.
a) modify file /etc/fstab clear open terminal, go to etc, su gedit fstab
b) inserting a line yes I understand that!
c) the right path and the number corresponding the "usb" group :
none /sys/bus/usb/drivers usbfs devgid=503,devmode=664 0 0
2 - locate file usbfs: in my case is /sys/bus/usb/drivers (I suggest to find the file with a usb device inserted;
3 - modify file /etc/fstab inserting a line containing the right path and the number corresponding the "usb" group :

View 3 Replies View RelatedWe can mount one NFS server just fine, but if we try mounting a share from another NFS server on the same domain we are unable to. We are using Fedora 10. Has anyone run into a problem trying to mount an exported share folder from an NFS server. Some of us get access denied and we've chmod 777 on the exported folder. The export file contains:
/labdocs 192.168.1.0/24(rw, sync, no_root_squash)
And that's it. We run exportfs -a -v and it shows up fine. On one of the client systems we try to mount the folder on a directory created by root
mkdir /docs
mount 192.168.1.13:/labdocs /docs
it either hangs or displays a message access denied.

After the install, I remove the DVD media, reboot the system, and it reports an error stating that Windows cannot start, missing or corrupted hal.dll file. I appologize if this is a common problem or has already been answered. My searches haven't yielded helpful information, mostly what I've found is people attempting to setup dual-boot machines or boot Fedora via the Windows Boot Loader.I have experience in computers, although I am completely new to Linux/Fedora. Through my work, I have experience using AIX, but no experience installing or managing drive partitions.The system in question is a 5 year old Windows XP system that I built myself. The system has two drives (C: and D: in Windows). The C: drive was the Windows install drive and the D: drive was added later for additional storage. I am attempting to completely overwrite Windows on this machine. I want it to single boot into Fedora 11, I am not looking for a dual-boot system. The system will become a network file server.

I boot my machine and run LiveCD and I can see me 36G raptor in GParted or partitioner or under Places but when i try to install 9.1, there is no drive after the keyboard layout in partitioner. Can anyone please shed some light on this. I have changed sata ports but that didnt help either. I don't understand how it would be a driver issue if I can see the drive and partition it.

View 8 Replies View Relatedas per the title - after a hard disk failure got new disk and attempting dual boot of xp and 10.10 - had to burn 10.10 twice to get it to complete the install process, but thats another story - basically on logging in there is now gnome panels - i get my 'low battery' warning etc and the login music but thats it - it does work in 'safe mode' though - what can i do to correct this?ironically had exactly same problem on the upstairs desktop when upgrading to 10.4 but buggered if i can remember how i fixed it - even checked my previous posts on it.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI got 2 ADSL accounts from a provider, so I decided to configure a server as a gateway for my other PCs.. I created ppp0 device using pppoe-setup over eth0. Then I configured the second one as ppp1 over eth2 to the second modem.. When I finished, I used ifconfig to check the settings and I got only ppp0 and didn't see ppp1, I tried to ifup ppp1 but I still get one device with ifconfig.. The adsl-start command starts only ppp0.What should I do to get the 2 lines to work simultaneously?Are there any configuration files that need to be edited?

My problem is centered around using a AT91SAM9G45 development board (DB)on Fedora 10. I have directions on how to setup on my host machine a DHCP server to connect to the development board. I have installed an additional network card (eth1) that will be used exclusively to communicate with my DB.

I want to properly install Unbuntu on my multi boot pc. I would like to install to E partition which is currently ntfs. I have never installed Linux. What drive should the boot loader go? I can format E partition during install? Does it still need a swap file partition? If so, can that be made from E partition? How big? I'd like to have a boot menu to choose Ubuntu or a choice that takes me to the windows boot loader. Would that boot loader get wiped if I did a fresh install of 7 to the I drive? Also, what would be the proper way to upgrade Ubuntu? I see a lot of post where people are doing it wrong.
Here is my drives layout. Should install Ubuntu to my SSD J drive instead? I tried the live CD. Seems to work well. I have a Asus Max Formula MB, Phenom II 6core, ATI 4870. MB has a built in Via sound card. Not sure if that was working.
I like to start Emacs as part of a login script and leave it running for the duration of my login session (which is typically weeks).
I have scripts to call emacs-client which will allow me to use a file-manager or Windows Explorer to locate files and right-click to edit them in Emacs.
I often end up with a lot of emacs windows (frames) open and I like to just be able to close them by clicking on the MS-Windows or KDE X button at the top-right.
The trouble is, if the window is the last one, this will shut down emacs which will lose all kinds of interesting history information.
As a work-around I use C-x 5 0 which won't let me close the last frame but this is often not as convenient as using the mouse
Does anyone know how to configure Emacs so that it can intercept the Window-Close button of the last frame to either request confirmation or simply disallow it?
On MS-Windows, disallowing closing of the last window may cause logoff to hang if emacs is still running but I'm not too worried about that.

Update Manager tells me updates are available and presents the list of security, recommended, and other updates. All are selected to update, but when I select Install Updates in Update Manager it returns with a Reading Package Information window overlaid on the main Update Manager window - building dependency tree then reading state information and dumps me back to the main Update Manager window without performing any update actions.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI try to install two window manager under openSUSE 11.4 x64. AmiWb and WindowLab. I compiled them and there were no errors, but they don't show up in the login menu. If i start them by switching ALT-F2 i can't connect to the xserver. As far as i can see, it is not in USR/X11 either. Have to check where it ended up in. But in my previous experience in installing a WM i did not have any problems.
