View 3 RepliesWe can mount one NFS server just fine, but if we try mounting a share from another NFS server on the same domain we are unable to. We are using Fedora 10. Has anyone run into a problem trying to mount an exported share folder from an NFS server. Some of us get access denied and we've chmod 777 on the exported folder. The export file contains:
/labdocs 192.168.1.0/24(rw, sync, no_root_squash)
And that's it. We run exportfs -a -v and it shows up fine. On one of the client systems we try to mount the folder on a directory created by root
mkdir /docs
mount 192.168.1.13:/labdocs /docs
it either hangs or displays a message access denied.

I got 2 ADSL accounts from a provider, so I decided to configure a server as a gateway for my other PCs.. I created ppp0 device using pppoe-setup over eth0. Then I configured the second one as ppp1 over eth2 to the second modem.. When I finished, I used ifconfig to check the settings and I got only ppp0 and didn't see ppp1, I tried to ifup ppp1 but I still get one device with ifconfig.. The adsl-start command starts only ppp0.What should I do to get the 2 lines to work simultaneously?Are there any configuration files that need to be edited?

My problem is centered around using a AT91SAM9G45 development board (DB)on Fedora 10. I have directions on how to setup on my host machine a DHCP server to connect to the development board. I have installed an additional network card (eth1) that will be used exclusively to communicate with my DB.
The DB has been setup with an ethaddr=12:34:56:78:9a:bc and an ipaddr=192.168.251.191.

I couldn't connect my Micromax 300G modem in Debian Linux. From internet (in Windows Vista), I came across the information of USB_ModeSwitch and then I downloaded it. While going to install it, I came across the problem that TCL-interpreter is not available in Debian Linux. Then again I restarted my laptop in Windows Vista and connected my Micromax modem and from internet downloaded TCL8.5.10-src.tar.gz. But while going to install it, I came across the problem that " configure: error: no acceptable C compiler found in $PATH " . Also as presently, I am unable to connect my modem therefore I am unable to issue the code:" apt-get update ".

Is there any chance to read data from this device. There are only 110 badblocks so most of my data should be fine.
Whenever i try to execute ls with ltr as an option the system hangs.
The workload on server is not more than 1. What could be the reason .
Normal ls works fine but ls -ltr causes the system to hang.

Is anyone managing to live reasonably without it? I'm only really wanting it to play media of ....., bbc iplayer, and assorted other video sites. Arch recommended installing FlashBlock for my chromium browser so I can download flash content, but all these sites detect that I don't have flash and take me to a warning page.

I am trying to build a rpm that basically changes the root password on a system. Here is what my spec file looks like:

However, when I run a "rpmbuild -ba specfile", I only get a *src.rpm under /usr/src/redhat/SRPMS, but no rpm file. I have never created a rpm and was wondering if there is something I am missing in my spec file?

This is on a customized Ubuntu 10.10 LiveCD. I have a directory which the default user "ubuntu" owns, and the permissions on the directory is 777. I'm unable to cd into the directory as ubuntu user. However as root user I'm able to access it. What could be the reason? I'm able to view the directory in nautilus.Note: I originally copied the folder over from an NTFS disk.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI keep getting an error when trying to install Ubuntu 10.10 on Windows 7. I insert the cd and then restart the computer. Everything looks like its loading great, but it gets stuck on the loading screen. So I pressed Esc, and it shows the following errors:

I have Ubuntu installed on my laptop. cfdisk shows 150GB hard disk which is correct. Baobab shows 56GB only. Also, wherever I try to download something using Transmission torrent client it complains that disk space is not sufficient. There is nothing on my disk except a few movies. Where is all the space?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI wanted to install adobe reader on my ubuntu 10.10(Maverick Meerkat).I have downloaded the file and copied it on my desktop.I had then browsed to the desktop directory through command line terminal.
I had tried all the possible combinations of the commands but still i get a "file or directory does not exist error"

Basically this morning, I decided to format my Win7 as it was getting really slow and I did so with no problems. I also have a Linux Mint OS on dual boot. Since I was springcleaning my windows partition, I decided it was a good idea to do the same to my linux partition.
I downloaded the latest version of Linux Mint (Julia) and burned the LiveCD. Now here is where the problem lies, when I restarted Windows and chose to boot from the LiveCD, it didn't work. No joke. There was just a little underscore blinking for a long time before it went back to GRUB which prompted me to select an OS to boot.
However, when I went into my old Linux Mint OS and restarted the machine, the LiveCD worked... to a certain extent. It would load and look as though it was ready to install Linux Mint 10 but the moment it got to the option screen, the whole screen turned into a checkered and jumbled mess.
At this point I thought it was the LiveCD or the .iso file. I had an Ubuntu LiveUSB for recovery purposes and I tried that. The exact same thing happened. Can't boot the LiveUSB if I restarted from Windows, but works when I reboot from Linux. BUT still the same checkered screen that doesnt respond.
Did a bit of googling and reckoned it might be something wrong with my GRUB. Did some updating and didnt make a difference.
Then I tried the Super Grub Disk and STUPIDLY uninstalled GRUB. (Note that booting to SGD had the exact same problem - can't be done if I rebooted from Windows). Now I can't access my Linux Mint 9 cos the the bootup screen (mbr) only has Windows 7 as an option.
Remember me mentioning that I can't boot from any CD/USB/recovery CD when I reboot from Windows? And now that I can't access Linux, there's no way for me to do any form of recovery!
I've tried using the command prompt utility at startup recovery but to no avail.
