How do I install Drivers for logitech c100 webcam in kiwi 10.08?
I am dyslexic. Is there a command for install webcam drivers that I can copy and paste to terminal window?
Is it possible for me to use a command in terminal window to Download and Install drivers for Logitech C100 webcam. If so can I copy and paste because I`m Dsylexic.

I have a problem with my diabetes software as Bayer Glucofacts requires Java Runtime Envirionment 1.6.0_07 or higher to install.I suspect that I would need to download and install JRE through a terminal window? I use putty to get to my RHEL 5.3 workstation from my Windows laptop.
Typically, if I want a new terminal on my windows 7 workstation from another terminal or mc, I have to type start and I will see a new terminal window running the default shell.
QUESTION : What is the equivalent command in RHEL 5.3 (and or solaris) to create a new terminal window from the command line ? I will be entering this command from the shell prompt or mc's command line.
In Windows, if I want to start another terminal and in that terminal, I want to run a program, I can do "start program.exe arg1 arg2". this will create a new terminal window and runs program.exe in that terminal window. I don't have to create a terminal and then in a separate step run the program. How can I do this in Linux ?

But when I check the device manager, it says I've got a Dell wireless 1395 WLAN mini-card. Does the lspci search for only the chipset and could that be different than the actual device?
I've run through the alien guy's wiki that's been posted several times and have set up the WPA key in the wireless directory. I've also seen some people using fwcutter on here? I'm not sure what that's for or how to use it.I think I've installed ndiswrapper, but am not sure how to use it. I've also been using this guys wiki [URL] because it's specific to my device, but once I get to the final step of building the LKM with: make -C /lib/modules/`uname -r`/build M=`pwd`, nothing happens, it says it can't find the directory.
i want to create a command that can be typed in any old terminal window that would display a message on screen for anyone who typed it. is this possible? i just want to do this for the randomness of it.
and cuz i need to get used to messing with terminal windows.
for example i would like to have "rawr" setup as a command to display a message on screen in a popup window with an "Ok" button to close the popup. i googled it but all i came up with was creating commands to launch applications without having to type the full path/command. not what i'm looking for. thanks in advance!!!

While attempting to download an epub file, I chose "open with the ebook widget" and to run rather than save and then clicked the box which says "always chose to do this and don't show this window again" (or something equivalent). The operation failed to bring up the file in the widget and the window no longer appears so I cannot try something else, e.g. "save".
How do I recover the original setting? (i.e. untick the box on the window that now does not appear).
I am using the latest Mint on a multi-booted DELL Studio 1740 notebook.
I have recently purchased a Toshiba satellite pro C650 laptop. I have installed Ubuntu 10.04 via Wubi which has installed ok and boots fine but it fails to recognise my Wifi card or network so I am unable to download any drivers. It also sees my dvd rom drive but not any usb ports or other hardware. I have searched the Toshiba site but cannot find a fix on any of the Linux forums there.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've tried a number of locations, that may have old proprietary ati drivers for the 9250 v/c (video card for any one who was wondering). currently using ubuntu 10.10, and from what I've read else where either my card is too old or my OS is too new. I have seen a few site (2 or 3) for old ati drivers, but they are for microsoft, not linux.
I went to the AMD web site down loaded and attempted to install the latest drive, but to no avail. I've used the software center provided by ubuntu, I have the latest drivers from them, unfortunately can't play any of the non-flash games, either using wine, plays on linux and cedega. From what I have read (and please correct me if I'm wrong) I need to install the old drivers provided by x.org xfree86 or ati.
I am using openSUSE 10.3.When I install software from tarball then to record time required I send output of date to beg.txt(when installation begins) and end.txt (when installation finishes).How can I append output of date to a file so I don't need two files?

I was also able to define a default window size of a new terminal window. But since after upgrading to to the first release this year and a complete new installation of the current release Maverick i do not find this option anymore. Is there a way how to set up the terminal default window size?
View 9 Replies View RelatedNewly installed Debian system from years with Fedora. Ran system update and system got hosed, booted but no Gnome. Got Gnome back after MANY 'aptitude upgrade's. Xemacs disappeared! Along with other things I installed. Tried to install Xemacs but it is broken and will not install, complains about dpkg TOO current(?). So downloaded Xemacs for Xemacs.org and compiled source, installed.
Now when I start Xemacs is does not run in an X window but runs emacs in a terminal window. If I run it from a script, it complains about 'not in tty window'.

When you download linux drivers for devices such as wireless dongles, you'll get a folder full of random files that I'm assuming oyu need to compile? How do you install a wireless driver in linux?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am new to Samba.I'm running Fedora 10 and I've just download samba successfully and have the smb service running on my system.I'm in GNOME and select System and then Administration and Samba does not appear in the drop down menu.I have an NFS menu selection but no samba selection.I ran yum install and it installed successfully. If I can't get the samba config window is there a way I can configure in terminal window?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently installed Fedora - it seems like a nice interface and I want to experience the system before deciding whether I want to keep using it over my ever reliable Crunchbang, which gives me absolutely no grief whatsoever. However, it is nice to use an attractive interface now and again.So, here's my problem - I opted to install the ATI drivers when alerted to the restricted ones by the pop-up. I took note of how to disable them again if there were problems with the display after reboot. There was a problem with the display (black screen) and I can't get the command entered at boot time because the only command line environment I have an option for is GRUB. Grib does not recognize any of the 'aticonfig --initial -f' command that ATI instructed me to use to get things back to normal. How do I do this? I prsume others have been there and will know how to guide me. - getting the graphical interface to display better graphics. I want the eye candy that desktop effects give. I am hoping Fedora won't let me down here because I could simply continue to use Ubuntu which only gives one problem with the window resize delay.

This is my first post and I am new on Mac OSX. I have create an app using python/py2app.
App is working fine but I need little modification.
1. My app name is test.app. Inside I have Contents/MacOS/test(executable)
2. I rename test(executable) as launch.
3. I create a simple bash script with name test(set executable permission) in Contents/MacOS directory inside app.
4. This script set same environment vars and finally execute launch executable.
5. This works but problem is that a terminal window comes up when launching app.
Is it possible to run the script(test) in such a way that it should not show terminal window?
After a cleaning of some software from my ubuntu (Jaunty) desktop I am no longer able to open a terminal window in Gnome.I tried to reinstall gnome terminal from synaptic but this made no difference...In the command line that you get with Alt-F2 I tried the code: man ls
and a terminal window opens but after exiting the man page (q) it disappears!
I just love Linux! I am using Fedora 14 and just starting out. I am curious as to why is that when I click the Firefox icon to launch the internet from the menu bar a Linux terminal window has to be open. If I close that particular terminal, (which by the way says "Terminal" and does not show my chosen host name) Firefox closes. If I go to Applications, then Internet, then Firefox to launch the browser, the terminal doesn't open.
