Jun 14, 2010I am using Ubuntu minimum 9.10 and I would need to add a network driver. I was told that it is the safest way to rebuild the kernel that includes this driver. I built the kernel and loaded it to my Ubuntu minimal. The network now works. However, during bootup time, I got the following error messages.

2. Also, I use bootchart to check the performance, somehow, in the first 5-6 seconds, nothing happens. I would assume that there is a time-out, but I do not know what is happening.
3. Ubuntu minimum uses kernel 2.6.31.22, and I use a later version, 2.6.33.5. Should I use 2.6.31.22 or 2.6.33.5?

Jun 27, 2011If I have a hard-disk with Ubuntu fully installed on it and I want to - all of a sudden - use Windows XP, is it mandatory that I firstly format the hard-disk first? So far, I have used two versions of Windows XP; one of them is from a few years before the other. Both copies of Windows XP when in start-up from booting from CD are causing errors. One of them is a BSOD error (0x0000007B) and the next Windows CD is stopping and giving me an error with setupdd.sys (error code 4). Is it required that the hard-disk is formatted before you even put a Windows boot CD in?

I'm pretty sure all the required Perl packages listed on this page are installed on my server(went through the list one by one using cpan), couldn't figure out what's the issue.

May 6, 2010There is this server that I have just put with Bugzilla. It needs Image::Magick module for rendering bmp or other image types to png to save some disk space and compress the images.
The best way to install it is using CPAN repos. And it gives whole lot of errors. I am attaching the file for errors.
But if try to install from cpan console it says Image::Magick is already the recent version.

After burning the cd and trying to install it to the computer it gives me "Invalid System Disk, Replace then disk and press any key." Jan 17, 2010I am running a server which is hosting a site where members can upload videoclips. I noticed that upon upload a thumbnail is not created for the videoclip. I found out that ffmpeg needed to be properly installed and in my case ffmpeg-php as the site runs on php. So far so good. I followed the instructions found somewhere to install ffmpeg-php but stall at the command: dot slash configure && make The error I get is:

configure: error: no acceptable C compiler found in $PATH
I presume it's because gcc is missing. how I can start tackling the problem and ultimately get gcc running so I can install the ffmpeg? Basically earlier today i figured i wanted to try out backtrack 4 but I could only have a maximum of 4 partitions on an hd at a time.
So i deleted my partition that contained my arch home directory (didn't really have any data on it and i figured i could just make a new one later) to create an extended partition to put backtrack on. Well all went well except now when I select arch instead of backtrack i get a disk check error.
This is the first part of the error, I can't exactly copy and paste it as its on my laptop. code...

Anyway formatting went fine and started installing win 7 however there was a reading error from cd and canceled. Now ever time I try and start my pc it comes up with error: unknown filesystem and the grub rescue prompt. Now I don't know what to do as i can't seem to get around this and back to win 7 installer.
