General :: Arch Disk Check Keeps Spitting Out Strange Error's After Installing BT / Fix It?

May 10, 2010

I don't know were this goes so I'm just gonna put it here
Basically earlier today i figured i wanted to try out backtrack 4 but I could only have a maximum of 4 partitions on an hd at a time.
So i deleted my partition that contained my arch home directory (didn't really have any data on it and i figured i could just make a new one later) to create an extended partition to put backtrack on. Well all went well except now when I select arch instead of backtrack i get a disk check error.
This is the first part of the error, I can't exactly copy and paste it as its on my laptop. code...

Ubuntu Installation :: Disk Check More Frequently After Install Arch

Mar 13, 2010

Recently I installed Arch on my computer. There are now three systems on it:XP,Ubuntu,Arch.I choose to share the same disk space for swap and /home in the two systems. The installation went well except some problems with Grub, and I managed to made it work. These days, when I start my computer and choose Ubuntu, there always displays a short message about /home disk checking or some problems about fstab. I don't know why. When I login to the system, it works well all the time.

General :: Cannot Use The Arch Repository After Installing

Jan 10, 2010

The first problem is that I cannot use the Arch repository. Every time I try to, it brings up a "no address record" error. I have configured my network interface properly and can ping www.google.com and receive a whole load of crap. Definitely working.
Whats wrong?

The second problem is that the boot-up process hangs for a very long time at "Starting Network." This make my boot of Arch just as slow as *buntu! WTF? Whats wrong there? Aside from that, I am unhappy that my Ethernet card is not detected but thats another question. The only ting I am pleased with right now is the speed of the system, and the fact that I used 4 different file systems on 7 different partitions without a hitch.

General :: Installing Arch - Warning: Do Not Edit /etc/sudoers Directly With An Editor

Sep 7, 2010

Warning: Do not edit /etc/sudoers directly with an editor; Errors in syntax can cause annoyances (like rendering the root account unusable). You must use the visudo command to edit /etc/sudoers. In the previous section we added your user to the "wheel" group. To give users in the wheel group full root privileges when they precede a command with "sudo", uncomment the following line:

%wheelALL=(ALL) ALL

so i signed in as root and typed in visudo now i alreayd made the changes but how do i exit and save super+x doesnt seem to do it for me since im not using nano and not supposed to cause it causes errors

Ubuntu :: Strange Disk Usage Computation After Upgrade To 10.04?

May 4, 2010

I upgraded from 9.10 to 10.04 without any visible issues. But after a few days system started to behave strange - first it shows the message that gnome-power-manager is not correctly installed on login screen. The it wasn't able to log in even - so I found that problem might be that it shows not enough space on the root partition. This is really strange for me - I do not have any special data there.

See what I have after df command:
