View 2 Replies View RelatedInterested in trialing Varkon and used Synaptic Package Manager to download and install. According to the [url]...nstalling.html it should be there under 'Applications'. I've looked through them all and no sign of Varkon. I've also tried to see if Varkon was installed so I looked via Ubuntu Software Center under installed software. No sign. Did a file search for Varkon.
View 4 Replies View Relatedafter the netinst finished to download the last package, one hour later the process never continues, I checked the log file and I didn't find anything suspecious, also dmesg and nothing, in fact, in the log file before checked I found that the last line was registered just a minute ago - DHCP renew IP-, so my questions are:
1. all the packages downloaded are gone?, can I restart the installation using all those packages downloaded?
2. where I can find the error or problem that cause that the installation was freezed?
3. in the case that installation needs to start from the beginning, can I use the package downloaded?

My Desktop gets moved around a lot, meaning, I switch between Wire and Wifi often. I have been re-running the Firestarter wizard (when I remember to do so) each time I change from one mode of communication to another.
However, in Firestarter, on the STATUS page I can see both my wired connection and my wifi connection along with transfer data stats, despite which kind of Internet connection I have told Firestarter my computer is using.
Does this mean Firestater is actually protecting both routes and that I don't need to rerun the wizard to customize Firestarter for protecting the newest mode of communication I am using between these two different choices of Internet contact?
just installed ubuntu 11.04 on my old laptop (Dell latitude XT), to experience this OS. But for some reason I cannot get online, both wired and wireless network are 'grey', and i cannot enable them. Even when I try to go online with a USB wifi dongle,I also cannot enable wireless. Enabling Networking is selected.
I include the information I collect and hope this will allow you to give me a diagnose on how to make my wireless work.

That once an ethernet cable is connected the wireless will be disabled and once the ethernet is disconnecter the wireless will be reconnected.
Using Ubuntu Maverick 64-bit.
I have a laptop with openSUSE 11.2 64bit. A printer is connected via USB. I uses an USB-soundcard for the connection to my HIFI.
Is there a solution, to connect to these USB-Devices without a wire?
I have found solutions, but they works only for Windows. No linux-driver at all.

My sons Ubuntu installation on his computer hasn't showed the Network Connections Icon in the Panel for a long time. This weekend everything was working fine and we needed to go away for the weekend and unhooked the router. When we came back the computer wouldn't connect back up to the internet.
How can I fix the Wired Connections Icon on the Panel and get the Auto Connect to work again?
i just installed the newest version of Ubuntu on my Dell 14r(1440) laptop. It's the newest version of the laptop with the i3. I can't find any wireless networks and my laptop doesn't even recognize when i plug in a Ethernet cable from my router. There are no internet connections available when hard wired or wireless.
I have the hated Dell Wireless DW1501, 802.11 g/n 1x1 Half Mini network card, which is only compatible with Windows operating systems from what i can tell. I want to be able to connect to the internet both ways, but especially and more importantly using a Ethernet cable.
I just installed ubuntu 10.04 on my Dell precision m4300 and am unable to activate either wired or wireless connections. Had them both before and not now. I have tried several online info sites but unable to clear up situation.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI know that the wireless devices are working properly as other OSs on this HD work in various forms both .deb and .rpm. In setting up openSUSE11.4, no matter which wireless device in WPA is installed, the icon will go to the wired icon, not the wireless. You can see it trying to go to a wireless icon, but then it reverts to the wired one. I'm beginning to think that this a OS problem in itself and not an install problem.
View 3 Replies View RelatedUp until very recently I've had a wired network, and at boot I'd see messages about DHCPREQUEST and DHCPOFFER and stuff as it set up the wired network.
Now I've just got wireless working instead, but it still tries to use DHCP on the no-longer-existing wired network. So it says "DHCPDISCOVER on eth0..." and waits for a bit, then again and waits again, and all the time the boot is waiting for a reply to its DHCP requests and it's not going to get one. It doesn't seem to do any harm, because once it's given up and proceeded with the boot then the wireless does seem to work fine, but I'd like to speed up the boot a little by cutting out this needless waiting. Has anyone got an idea how I can stop it? I tried in Preferences-Network connections and in Administration-Network, and in System Tools-Network tools, and also from the network icon in the task bar, but I can't find anything which lets me configure the wired network eth0 or disable it or disable the DHCP.
Can i setup both the hardwired network and wireless printer network options in slackware13.1 for Brother HL-2170W mono chrome laser with both wire& wireless network options? 3 Slackware13.1, 1 WinXP PCs, 1 mac and 1 windows7 Laptop.
