View 2 RepliesI have a server hosted elsewhere and I am wondering if there is a way to know if my Server has turbo mode enabled or not?
I have i5 @ 750 Intel. It support Turbo mode but am not sure if my server has got it enabled or not.
In our college all the systems (running on windows xp) have TURBO C/C++ installed on them which we use for C programming. I recently installed ubuntu 10.04 on me laptop (DELL Inspiron 14R (N4010) with some modifications) i read somewhere on the internet that Gedit can be used for writing a programme in ubuntu which can be compiled using gcc. Well if i use Gedit rather than Turbo c will i experience any differnce?, i mean is there any problem in doing so?? Or i should prefer running turbo c using DOS BOX?

- being able to edit the track's name/album (songs in the iPod)
- adjusting volume of tracks
I'm currently using Rhythmbox. I have tried Exaile and Amarok just doesn't work for me. I can't recall what made me turn away from Banshee, too. I'm not really into Wine so installing iTunes itself is not viable.
I have problem in connecting my Pc (which is linux based) with wireless router (LINKSYS WRT54GL) via wired. how to do the networking between my pc and router.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've recently started using the "screen" multiplexer and it is really handy for some cluster work I've been doing. But if I am in emacs and I press C-A to go to the beginning of the line and the C-N to go to the next line, I get shunted to the next "screen" window. I imagine there are other conflicts as well. I did some googling, but all the suggestions showed how to adjust emacs key-binding to accommodate screen. But I don't want to adjust emacs key-bindings because that is the whole reason I like emacs. I think custom "screen" key-bindings go in .screenrc. Does any emacs fans out there who have run into this problem have any .screenrc code they would be willing to share with me that worked well for them?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just got a new iphone (yay me) but later realised that as I have Ubuntu, it is very difficult to get itunes installed on it.
Having said that, I've got Wine installed and attempted to download itunes 7.something and even though the whole process worked, it appears that when I try to access itunes the whole screen goes black and then if I scroll across the screen with my mouse it lights up various bits of what's behind the black screen and then after a while it tells me that it cannot access itunes at all...
So I thought, perhaps I should uninstall itunes, but in doing that it still appeared in my wine folder, so I uninstalled wine, which still appeared in my Applications list, so I edited my applications list and then tried to re-install wine from scratch (I know I sound dumb already - but I was desperate ok!!!). So now wine is installed on my computer somewhere but it now doesn't show up in my Applications list at all and I can't seem to get it back on there - any suggestions there would also help...
But my main objective is to try and uninstall itunes properly (maybe from the terminal window - but I don't know how to even do that) and attempt to re-install it to see if it works again.
I need to do this in order to sync my iphone. Cannot seem to do it with Amarok as I don't have Installer.Apps on my iphone, and cannot get THAT without syncing it with itunes to begin with....
I'm seeing really bad user login format under a standard installation and am wondering why ubuntu does this as default. I have noticed that the graphical login for gnome sizes itself to accommodate a user's exact password length. This indicates to me that somewhere on the unencrypted part of a standard installation with user encryption contains at least some indication of the content of the password length which seems a security flaw even if not a complete hole, it majorly reduces the number of attempts a cracker would have to cycle through.
And that's assuming that *only* the length is contained. Furthermore it seems that it would be MUCH better to simply display the number of characters entered into the pw field and allowing the gui to expand itself from an fixed size as the field is filled out so the the user still receives visual feedback for entering characters. Either a simple character count display should be entered into the field or a 10 dot to new line so that one can visually quickly count the number enter by multiplying from a 10base graphical observation.
i am running some programmes on gcc compiler and i have to check same programmes on turbo c compiler. But i do not have this c turbo compiler.i have done some searching and found that it is not possible to install turbo c directly ,for this i have to use dosbox.ok now the main question is that for this i must have c++ setup which i do not have.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm thinking about switching from Windows to Linux when I get a new laptop. As far as I can tell, the only software I use that doesn't run on Linux or have a Linux equivalent is iTunes. Here are the tasks that I currently use iTunes for:
Syncing my iPhone a few times a week (for podcasts, keeping smart playlists up-to-date etc); Downloading podcasts; Using Home Sharing to sync purchases to another machine on my home network. Would I still be able to perform these tasks using iTunes in a Windows VM?
I have used TurboTax online for several years to do my return....this year they are refusing Firefox running on a Linux OS!Anyone know of an alternative that is Linux friendly?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have Phenom II X6 1055T. If Turbo Core kicks in, the speed should go up to 3.2GHz.
Problem is, it never kicks in. My kernel enabled Turbo Core already.
dmesg :
I am guessing, TurboCore depends with the P-State reading and cpu frequency thingy. As you can see, P0 are not 3200MHz (if my hypothesis are correct). Or perhaps i am wrong. I tested by not doing nothing and running folding program on one core with conky monitoring. Conky reads 5 cores at 800MHz, and one core at 2.8GHz.
TurboCore is enable on windows xp. I can see the core sometimes goes up to 3.2Ghz occasionally.
I am new to linux how can I install itunes to linux. I was advised to get rid of windows vista from my sony vaio and install fedora, however, I am new to this and I am installing itunes, adobe flash, and so on!
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just installed Ubuntu 10.04 on my husband's laptop. He insists that I install iTunes. Wine comes with the 10.04 release. I downloaded iTunes 9.2.1.5(32x) and it appeared to install ok. It said it was successful. However, immediately upon the 'installation successful' notification, another window popped up that said, "iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes. Error 7 (Windows error 126).
Whenever I try to open iTunes, this error message pops up. I used the WINE uninstall option for iTunes, however, the window pops up giving the option to either repair or uninstall, and when I click uninstall it appears to go through the process and even says it did - only to discover the fine print telling me that it "installed" the program sucessfully. This is very frustrating. I cannot seem to get the program to uninstall.
I found a thread that said to delete the files manually, but I don't know how to do this. I need to uninstall iTunes and reinstall it and make it work.
I was wondering if anyone knew how to decode an iTunes video in Linux. So far nothing I have found will but I've heard there are ways to do this. I'm just looking to see if anyone can point me in right direction.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have installed Ubuntu server 10.10 on my new computer which uses AMD Phenom II X6 1090T. But I have noticed that my CPU cores were not able to run at 3.6GHz at any time, even when I only have one CPU-intensive computing job. They are either at 3.2 GHz or 800 MHz, like this
Code:
$ cat /proc/cpuinfo | grep -i "cpu Mhz"
cpu MHz: 800.000
cpu MHz: 3200.000
cpu MHz: 3200.000
[code]....
My maximum CPU frequency seems to be locked at 3.2 Ghz:
Code:
$ dmesg | grep "pstate 0"
[ 1.595918] powernow-k8: 0 : pstate 0 (3200 MHz)
I goggled around and it seems that Linux 2.8.35 kernel have solved the problem. I just do not understand why it does not work on mine.
Code:
$ uname -a
Linux hogwarts 2.6.35-22-server #35-Ubuntu SMP Sat Oct 16 22:02:33 UTC 2010 x86_64 GNU/Linux
presently am doing an LTSP project i have sucessfully insatlled DosBox and Oracle in fedora9 now i wanted to install tsam ( Turbo Assembler )

I've just come back to Linux running Ubuntu 11.04 and need to find an app to manage files on an iPhone 4. When I connect via usb I can open a file browser window and see the folders on the iPhone but not the files. Also the system suggests using the photo manager and banshee to view the files but when I open them I still can't see the files. Can anyone recommend an app to open, view and manage files on an iPhone?

I've clean installed over a friend's win98 with Mint 7 (disc from lab a year? or so ago).
My Optus modem prompted the wizard and now always works fine,ok speed, and I updated Mint with 300 new files etc.
But my friend's new Telstra Turbo modem,[Sierra brand] although it shows a blue light flashing, doesn't get the wizard connection process started, and there's just NO sign on Mint that it's plugged in.
If I can get it to work, it will increase the number of people I know who use linux to 1.
I cant get lime wire installed on my debian lenny. the repositories was changed to contrib non-free, still no go. Cant seem to get any kind of documentation even after 2 days of googling.
